I, too, am a Days fan...since 94. I didn't watch on the day Marlena killed Alice, either. It was sad enough to see Jack and Maggie go, as well as the others (although I wasn't much of a fan of Cassie). But Alice? That was awful ... although I am glad the actress retired (it was her time).

I discovered Passions completely by accident- on its first day, with the carnival and everything. I thought, "A witch and a talking doll? This is a joke, right?" Now I love it and hate it at the same time. I hate how it's so unrealistic, even for a soap opera, but the bad acting and funny lines thrown in (like Rebecca's horrible racism and Allister's comments) make me laugh.

Rhiannon, you seem to know a lot about these shows! I had no idea there was going to be a spin off of Days... but that's very exciting. I, too, want Julian with Eve. I mean, that TC guy is as annoying as he is stupid and he can't control his temper. Let Liz have him.

Ahh, soaps. Wonderful, aren't they? lol

Used to watch General Hospital alllllllllllll the time. This was back in the day of Luke and Laura and the Quartermaines and some bullshit about the ice princess.
I remember those days. Luke and Laura are STILL a popular story. They brought them back for a while too, but Laura is pretty much out of the picture now, institutionalized in Switzerland. Luke has become a drunken sot who can't function because Laura is away. Quartermaines are still doing their thing. Old daddy Quartermaine is cantankerous as ever, Lila is still wheeling around in her motorized chair, the kids and grandkids are all grown up and causing their own troubles, and having their own kids.

I have been watching some of these people my whole life :o Many even with the same actors playing the parts! I cannot imagine doing the same job like that, as many hours as they put in, week in and week out for all those years.

Oh and I loved little Timmy on the show. It seemed to be alot more campy and superstitous a few years ago. I kinda wish they would bring back that crazy wichy stuff it made me laugh alot at how corney it was.
That is funny, little Timmy drove me nuts, a little too campy for me. My best friend Amber in high school was obsessed with Passions and if we were going to hang out after school we always had to watch the show before normal life could resume for her, LOL.

I used to watch Days of Our Lives at my babysitters after school when I was in elementary. She was obsessed with it and faithfully taped every episode so we would curl up on the couch every afternoon and watch the drama enfold, LOL. Probably not a good show for a 2nd grader to watch though.....

    As to GH -

I think Laura just died. As mentioned, it doesn't take long to catch up and I was writing a proposal from home this week (day job) so I got to catch an episode. Lucky was all broken up about his mother's death... not sure how long that will last, but for now Laura is dead.

A few years ago, I was into Sunset Beach. I guess not a lot of others were, because the ratings sucked, which resulted in its cancellation. Sigh.

I used to watch Sunset Beach too! It was a helluva cheesy gimmick, what with the degenelle (sp.?) jewels and all that jazz, but I could not tear myself away! They had been searching for those cheap trinkets for the entire run of the show!! lol!

LOL indeed.. They are "crack" for TV. You can't get enough. I've attempted to stop watching them numerous times, and failed miserably. LOL.

The spinoff is definitely in the works, as per the producers and writers. It shoujld be very interesting. Kind of like a "Crossing Over" for the soaps. lol

One thing I love is all the spoofs that they do on Passions. And when Julian does Ozzy it's such a riot. LOL.

When I first started watching Passions I was, like others, very shocked. LOL. It was just so unrealistic, but I couldn't get enough. And especially the whole Alistair storyline. He reminds me of Dr. Claw from "Inspector Gadget", you never see his face, mostly just his hands..

I watched GH when I was younger, stopped around 6 years ago.Hey,remember when blackie was on it(john stamos) I was in love with him.I also watched young and the restless for a while, after one of the hot actors was doing a guest appearance at the mall I worked in.The last one I watched was bold and the beautiful, got sick of ridge and thorn( who names there kids those names) my fiancee and I would watch just to make fun of ridge, his horrible acting, kind of like that guy john on another soap. And what a slut brooke is,sleeping with the brothers and their father.Soap operas use to be good.General hospital in the 80s was awsome, now they have ghosts and people comeing back from the dead.I just cant watch them anymore. How bout that girl from who wants to marry my dad,she got a lead part on passions I think it was,too crazy.

I watch Passions off and on..The acting is horrible and the story line is even worse ,but the actors are HOT !
Does anyone know who Eve and Julian's missing son is ? I think its Chad, since he is the only likely possiblity.

Yep hon, I think it's Chad too. I hope that'll be revealed soon, the storyline is years old.. LOL.. It's probably one of the secrets that Alistair is hiding.

Hell Yes! The actors are hot! LOL.. Between Luis, Ethan, Miguel (cute for a young guy), Fox and Sam, it's heaven! Unfortunately, Miguel (Jesse Metcalf) is being recast, he's decided not to renew his contract. I hope they replace him with another hottie. hehe

I've been watching All My Children since I was like 13- made my mom tape it while I was at school. I've missed the last like 2 months of it though- so I'm out of the loop. Although last time I missed 2 months, when I tuned back in... it was the same. Lately the writing just isn't as good as it used to be. Sad. Ahh well. Rebecca Budig (Greenlee) is AWESOME!

    Ok some trivia:

Who can name the teen soap that Sara Michelle Gellar (sp?) starred in?

Hints: before buffy, BEFORE All My Children.

I watched this show religiously. Also AMC and One life to live.

    As the StripperWeb Turns

Actually, there seem to be no obvious soap operas on this board, which fascinates me. I've been involved in "online communities" in the past...and things always degenerate into he said/she said situations and all kinds of crap. This medium is different, however...this is a forum, rather than the main focus being chat rooms. Still, it seems as though it should have "evolved" into the same sort of activities....since there IS a chat room available (which is uncharacteristically empty...more intrigue).

I'm starting to think that dancers might be socially the healthiest people around!

    LOL Hey PK..

Well, on Days, I'm glad they're all starting to find out that the ones that "died" are still alive. It's just a matter of finding them now. I about died the other day when Bo burst in on John and Kate (who were getting ready to get busy), and told them that everyone is still alive. It should be interesting how the rest of the story plays out. The original plans were that the whole storyline was supposed to play out all the way through to next year. I hate the recast of Belle. Blah. I also want that whole Jan storyline to disappear. I don't think there's really any point to it.

On Passions, I'm not pleased with the "stand-ins" for Theresa and Fox, and I can't wait for them to come back. For those who don't know, they're on "maternity leave" and either just had the baby, or are waiting for it. The two actors are married. Well, first they got knocked up, then married. But, you know.. LOL

I don't watch the soaps as often as I'd like to anymore. I've been way too busy between 1 and 3 these days. But, I do try and catch it at least a couple times a week.

I started watching soaps in fall of '01 when I was unemployed and moved to NYC right after 9/11.

I watched Passions for a while, but I still like to watch GH when I can. Snob that I am, I consider it really well written and acted among a lot of stuff on the air, despite the kooky soap plot twists. I don't like the chick that plays Sam now though. Vanessa Marcil was awesome in that part!

I also loooove the Dynasty re-runs they show on Soap Net! The big hair! The spackled-on makeup! The bejewled Nolan Miller gowns!

Oy Velvet.. I remember that one.. Yech! LOL
I can just never bring myself to actually like people that they recast. "Kate" just recently started growing on me, and she's been in the role for years now.. The Jack/Jennifer recasts sucked arse (sheesh, how many Jacks did they go through, I forget.. lol), so I'm extremely happy that they settled things with the originals and they're back.
