GOVERNOR NAPOLITANO SIGNS LEGISLATION TO EXTEND BAR HOURS
Asks Agencies to Monitor Data
PHOENIX – Governor Janet Napolitano has signed House Bill 2570, allowing establishments serving liquor to continue alcohol sales until 2:00 a.m. The bill modifies the previous cutoff time of 1:00 a.m., and will take effect 90 days after the close of this legislative session.
The Governor has also signed a letter to the Directors of the Department of Public Safety, the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety and the Department of Liquor Licenses and Control, asking for close monitoring of the effects of the new law.
“Even as I sign the bill, I’m still concerned about the impact it could have on our citizens, and on state and local law enforcement,” said Governor Napolitano. “I want the agencies to keep track of any changes and report back to me in six months.”
