Is anyone going to see Kill Bill II. I am a Quentin fan and can't wait. There was an interview on MSNBC with Uma Thurman today and you can watch it on MSN.
"I'm gonna UMA you!" is the new phrase..

I am going to see it ! I like Quentin Tarantino and Uma Thurman is so freaking hot as well as being a great actress. I worked at a club with a girl who looked so much like her.

Am I the only one who was SERIOUSLY bothered by the first one? I know that I happen to be overly sensitive to on screen violence (I don't know why--didn't used to be), so I was expecting this to be bad....but I felt sick after leaving that movie. I started crying uncontrolably on the way home. I know full well that it was fake, blah, blah, blah....but it still made me incredibly sad! Maybe I'm inwardly upset that this is what "entertainment" has come to. How can people--especially children and young adults, whatch this kind of stuff and think it's "cool"? It just hurts me somewhere inside.
Now, that's not saying that anyone who watched it and liked it is a bad person! No way! A lot of my friends loved the movie. I too can even appreciate that it was REALLY well done. The fight scenes are like ballet. It really is shot beautifully. I just hate that he needs to make sure violent movies. And it's not even for the sake of realism (he goes WAAAYYYY beyond reality)! Maybe someone who knows him and his work better can explain this senseless violence to me.

SCGirl,
You know, I felt that way about Pulp Fiction the first time I saw it. Then I watched it again. Once you look through the violence you discover that it is all an illusion to hide the real story in the script and the situation.
Example: in Pulp Fiction there is a scene where they are trying to give Uma a shot to save her from a heroin overdose. In the background is the "Game of Life'.
Example: irrelevant things in life like "what do they call a quarter pounder with cheese in France?" inset into the whole extreme situation are pure genius.
Example: the discussion on whether Pigs are dirty animals and why dogs aren't.
To tell the truth, I could not get through Reservoir Dogs. Must have been tooooooo early in his career.
He surrounds the whole meaning around the violence that you have to ignore..
Once you see this, it is one of the funniest comedies I have seen. But boy, does it take some effort to get there.
I can't wait to see it!!!
SCGirl, have you seen any classic kung-fu movies from HongKong and Japan? Some of them are from the 60's and feature this type of dramatic violence and choreographed fights scenes. Kill Bill is an homage to thie genre, Tarantino's favorite.....
I also hate violent movies in general, but Vol 1 was just too clever and brilliant to pass up the sequel..
They are going to make it a trilogy!!!

I think my dislike for Uma has prevented me from seeing these movies. Although she was in "Pulp Fiction", I loved the movie because of Travolta. So, I dealt with having to see her too. hehe

Natural Born Killers was a f*cking trippy ass movie !
Have you seen Kalifornia ? Its another tripped out movie ..
Please tell me why you don't like Uma ??

LOL yes, I always to say that you don't even need drugs, just watch that movie. hehe.. I saw Kalifornia a few times, that was pretty good also.Originally Posted by Farrah_Holiday link=board=1;threadid=8269;start=msg97253#msg97253 date=1082012200
As for Uma, I'm really not sure why I don't like her. LOL. I can't really figure it out. I think my hubby's rubbed off on me a bit. He can't stand her and says she's fugly. I think she's gorgeous, but there's something I don't like about her. I can't figure it out though.

Natural Born killers was Quentin's story? You mean he wrote the script? I can believe that.
Kalifornia was great, too, and finally got me to respect Brad Pitt as an actor (ladies, don't get bent out of shape, you can love him or any other guy all you want, but they have to be able to act to get my respect). He was even better in Twelve Monkees, which is also an extremely tripped-out movie.
Kill Bill I was definitely a homage to those old martial arts flicks, and should be viewed as comedy, if you can do this. I preferred Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs to it, but will see the sequels I'm sure. From Dusk 'til Dawn was great fun, except the end got a little silly, but the soundtrack kicks ass, and works great in SC's!
Uma Thurman is not really attractive to me physically, but her personality is sexy as hell.

LOL yep, that's Quentin's story. I hadn't really paid much attention to the credits until a few years ago when I watched it. And when I saw "Story by Quentin Tarantino", it all made sense given the trippy storyline and camera tricks. Definitely an "out-there" movie, but it's one of my faves. hahahaOriginally Posted by Djoser link=board=1;threadid=8269;start=msg97264#msg97264 date=1082013727
I think part of my hubby's problem with Uma, is that he's not into blondes. Now, mention Julianne Moore or Angie Everhart to him, and he perks right up. He's a redhead-type-of-guy, I wonder why that is.. hmmm.. lol

Djoser,
I can't believe you don't find Uma HOT
Rhia,
She has played with her hair color a lot ..I actually prefer her as a brunette. The blonde just washes her skin out too much.
I have always liked Uma..I even crushed on a girl that looked like her at one of my old clubs

For the record....Quentin HATED what was done to the Natural Born Killers script to the point where he said so in an inteview. Also check out "True Romance" which was a Terintino script (If the opening Elvis monologue didnt give it away). And yes there is a Kill Bill 3 in the works about Vivaca Foxes character's child getting her revenge. Apperently it will be out...........IN 15 YEARS (well she'll be old enough then).

I also had just seen Kill Bill Vol 1 . Because I have seen almost all of Taratino's other flicks... I am used to his style. I also realised that the violence was 'over the top' and not to be taken seriously at all for a reason.
Actually, Pulp Fiction is my Taratino fave. I also agree that Uma looks better in that film (darker hair) than Kill Bill. Blonde doesn't suit everyone.
Also, did anyone notice the Bruce Lee reference in Kill Bill.... here's a clue... Uma's character's motorcycle suit.
My flat-mate didn't like it so much... he thought it could be better.

Saw an advanced preview of Vol. 2, and lemme say that it rocks just like the first part!![]()
Age is only important when it comes to wine and whiskey!
I hope it does! I just saw the first one and wanted to go right out and buy it. But I think I'll wait till vol.2 comes out cause you know they'll have some kind of "collectors package" thing going on.
i liked volume I ...not sure if i'm gonna go see volume II...i might just wait till it comes out on dvd

I'm eagerly awaiting volume 2, so I had to see volume 1 again first.

I was going to buy the DVD, but then found out that there's going to be a box set with both volumes available by Christmas. I suppose that I better wait.
So I rented it instead to scratch my itch.
Word is that a volume 3 is already in the works.

LOL...Yes, yes, I realize that you're supposed to look past the violence....but then, why put it in in the first place? I dunno. But I'm sure that if I watched it again, knowing exactly what happens, it wouldn't bother me at all. I guess I'm just a person that is easily shocked--it's a physical and emotional response that I don't have control over. Oddly enough, I had a similar reaction the first time I saw "Hannibal" in the theater. Something about that scene with the pigs....I dunno, it just got to me finally. I ended up feeling really sick. I almost had to leave the theater. But my sister LOVES the character of Hannibal Lector so I rented the video for her when it came out. I watched it with her then and I couldn't help thinking, "what the hell was my problem? this isn't bad at all!"....like I said, I dunno, I don't get it.
But I AM going to go see Vol 2--at least I know what to expect (more so than for Vol 1--then I only THOUGHT I knew what to expect).

Did the fight scene with Lucy Liu really have to take so damn long? I mean it was cool and all, but come on can somebody just die already so we can move on to the next scene? But other than that, really disturbing highly entertaining movie and looking forward to the next.

OK....I JUST saw Vol 2.....
.....WAAAAYYYY different tone than the first movie. There's no blood and gore in this one. Vol 2 is much more sentimental. I absolutely LOVED it! I won't mention any specifics so as not to ruin it for anyone...but, wow.....
(btw.....Bill is SOOOOO not dead!!!!!!)
