Not saying the DJ should make less, but he damn well shouldn't be making MORE. Yeah it's cool if he's making more than the bottom of the barrel girls - they don't hustle and they don't make much money. I wouldn't expect the guy to bust his ass all night for crap pay, which is why I always do make sure to tip appropriately.

You are correct that this is not a contract thing. Even the 'standard fees' are not on contract. It's not like we're giving out W2s or 1099s to the DJs....although maybe we should LOL! I have a EIN and am incorporating this year. HAHAHA I wonder what the DJs at my club would say if I presented them with a contract to fill out in order to send them 1099s at the end of the year from Bridgette Inc

Flounder I won't shoot ya yet Just make sure you remember that an SC is pretty much a raw market - most rules are bent, overlooked or straight out ignored as par for the course all day and all night. Dancers are no more inclined to pay retarded sums for bullshit than customers are.

The thing at my club seems to be 10% of your LD sales. I guess that's becase most of these gals spend it in the club almost as fast, and have no idea how much, they're making. If they always went off the cash on their garter at the end of the night, he'd probably make nothing. But a girl who knows she did eight dances, at $30 apiece, knows she did $240 (minus house cut= $200). Furthermore, everyone else knows it too. So rather than tipping $14 because she has $139 left after buying new thongs from the costume lady, paying back $20 to her best friend and paying a $10 fine for being late, we just go by dance count mostly.

Personally, I never tip off solely the dance count, as my tips can often double my nightly take and our good DJ earns every dollar, but I won't tip above a certain amount. It's ludicrous to give the DJ more than $50-$60. Frankly, our DJ doesn't much mind if we make $700 and tip $50, as long as we've always taken care of him otherwise. Stiff him on a $200 night and he'll rightly expect you to make up for it when you hit it big.

There is more I can post as to why I deserve so much money but, I don't want to come off as concieted. Face it I am a dj and I am a dick...but ya gotta love me

hahaha. well, it's my opinion that some dj's definately deserve more than others and I tip them accordingly

Can you imagine some girl's chagrin though if the tip out schedule is 15% to mgt., 10% to dj, 5% to doorman?

When I worked in Indianapolis, the DJ got 10% of what we make. There was no flat house fee just $3 per dance or 2/1 and all dances except for $1 dances were done in the VIP room which was in clear sight of the DJ booth.

The DJ and manager had their clipboards out tracking dances. The top DJ there was on top of his money. He would tell you what he was owed before you would.

One girl owed $20, paid him $18,because she did not have a $20 bill she only had a hundred and two fifties left after paying the house. She told him she'd give him $2 tomorrow. This DJ had the nerve to tell her that he had change and that he wanted his money now.

That's one good thing about Houston. Due to such intense competition on everything there house fees and tip outs are low. Just give the DJ $5. If you work with the day and night DJ give each one $5. Sometimes I would give them $7.

We make virtually nothing on stage there and the DJ keeps the $20 for the girls who pay not to go up.

That flat fee is the best. Those percentages add up. A girl in Houston can go to work at 11 AM and pay $5 as a house fee, tip two DJ's $5 each and stay until closing time at 2AM for $15 total tipouts regardless of if she made $100 or $1000.

Tina, exactly what I was thinking!!

Despite the high mileage in Houston, NO ONE asks me for any tips. I give the DJ and floor manager $20 apiece in addition to a $15-$40 housefee, depending on the club and time... No DJ asks me for more...

Think about it this way. On a busy Friday at St. James, there might be 100 dancers. If each girl gave the DJ a 20 piece, he's making 2 LARGE!!! That's $2,000, not a single girl will have made that much due to the body count working that night, or ever!!!

Unlike some of your crybaby dancers, I look at the DJ as a coworker, and casual friend at times, but if you think you deserve THAT much money for being nice and carrying a girl's bag, then maybe you should re-evaluate your motivations and your actions, because where I come from, a man carries a woman's bags out of chivalry...

Bah, now I'm pissed, but this is nothing I will ever encounter in my real strip life, since I always treat my DJ like a king, so I'll put this to bed...

While my post was intended to show that I bust my butt for my $25per girl, it was mostly tongue in cheek.
If I pissed anyone off, I apologize.
I actually do carry the girls bags and get them to their cars safely and all the other stuff just cuz I'm a nice guy, I was raised to treat a woman like a lady at all times. I go out to get the tampons just cuz so many store clerks seem to get embarrassed when a guy asks where they keep the plugs, and I love any opportunity to make people squirm.....

Not directed at you Blade darling.....I know you would lay your jacket onto a puddle for me to walk over anyday, hehehe

I guess the 10% thing works out ok for certain types of smaller clubs, I concede.....

Blade, I have NEVER EVER EVER worked with a DJ who did ANY of the things you mentioned. NOT A SINGLE ONE. I have worked with 100+ DJs. If you think the DJ puts up with allottabullshit, SO DO WE. We earn every last penny we make, and imagine our annoyance at having to always cough up 20-50% (or more) every night to every damn person in the bar with their greedy damn hands out. Bullfuckingshit the DJ deserves more than 'his' girls! WE ARE THE ONES FIGHTING OFF MUTHAFUCKAS TRYING TO SHOVE THEIR FISTS UP OUR ASSES. I will be damned if I hand over 10% to a fucking self-righteous DJ who thinks playing a track for me, which I downloaded, burned and brought in, earns him a percentage of the money I bust my ass for. I DO NOT EVER do any of the stupid shit you listed that SOME dumbass girls do, and I'll be goddamned if I pay for their stupidity! BULLFUCKINGSHIT!!!!

Ok yeah this pisses me off. Excuse the cursing....

Yeah, Bridgette! Blade, we should all be so lucky to have a DJ like you. I've worked with only two in many years who have even come close. :'( Why won't these successful clubowners cough up the cash to pay their employees? We could show love to the great ones instead of feeling scammed?

Djs play music, they should be paid to play music period. Not make 1000-2000 dollars a night because diamond dave or whoever thinks he should.I dont even go on stage so whatever I give is more than enough and they tip noone, plus get paid by the hour.My daughters father is a dj at the top club here and they get 7 minimum.I have worked attop clubs everywere and the most the djs usually get is 10 minimum. One club and one club only were I was skipped on stage and made 1200-1500 a night I tipped 50 to the dj.In florida the clubs expect the girls to cover the djs salary which is ridiculous.Only once did I have a dj ask for more and it was at a club were I worked for years and left, when my friend bought it I went in a few shifts to help her out, well the dj didnt know I had worked there 5 years before, well I gave him 30 he said you made like 700-800 you owe me at least 40 more I ignored him and walked away, after watching 10 or so girls walk up and give him 10.Well he wouldnt let it go,well he was let go after that.We are the ones that make the club money.I have never had a customer come in for the dj,though most think the customers are there to see them.I use to get into millions of arguments about this with my ex,hey he makes 2-400 a shift ,not bad for just playing music, anywere else they play music, they wouldnt make half that, but because were around banking they feel they can take advantage.Well we were without power for hours and I still made money, sorry.Djs in vegas make 2000 plus a night and Iam sorry but theres something quite backwards about that.

They make that or close to it in some other places too. I FULLY agree there is something damn backwards about that, especially while the girls are struggling to make a quarter of that in most cases.

Ya know..I really should learn when to shaddup.

Believe me when I say I know where you all are coming from. Not only am I a dj I am married to a dancer and bounce all of her stags and/or private parties.
B, I'm sorry if my post upset you...it was intended to be funny, not upset ANYONE.
I've already stated my feelings on the percentage thing..it blows!

Heheh, Blade, this is like the housemom post, seems to me the majority of the dancers on here do not need someone for all those tasks. They'd be able to earn very well without it all, and resent being required to fork over their income for something they don't need. I'd be more than willing to tip people who help me, like bouncers and DJs that do so well I have guys lined up for VIPs after my stage show, but sometimes these people are superfluous.
Unfortunately, we also get the cream of the crop here with regards to DJs and dancers, we don't get posts from those who arrive, demand the girls' burnt CDs, put them in, say "here's Bridgette. Isn't that gweat? and now here's Luna. Yup." Lock themselves in a booth the entire night and then stand there palm upward at the end of the shift. the DJ at my club's sister doesn't do much beyond these things, but he also only askes for the $5 min. So he makes, maybe, $40/night + salary [which is decent for an unskilled labor in this area]. My DJ goes slightly beyond this, he's bought two CDs for me out of the hundreds I've tipped him, and demands 10%.

Blade, I wasn't really pissed off at you. Sorry if I came off that way. This just happens to be one of my pet peeves - guys who don't do crap for me but expect me to shell out loads of cash....for what?

Now tonight I did tip the DJ (and several other people) extra because I did the contest (and won), and had to ask for a few favors for my show. One guy blew up my kiddie pool, DJ ran special lights, one bouncer had to find a missing shoe because I'd kicked them off onstage and one went flying into the unknown, two guys had to clean the stage when I was done. All of those guys got extra tips because they did something special for me.

On most nights though, I go in quietly, do my job, don't ask for anything except to have my songs played as requested, pay my fees and leave. I am pleasant to everyone and I do NOT cause problems. I do not mind paying reasonable amounts as we are all there to make money. But there is a limit, and it does piss me off to have some shithead like Luna described doing jack for me, with a crappy attitude, then holding his greedy palm out at the end of the night.

I do fully agree the dumbass broads who give everyone attitude, get trashed and stupid all the time, cause trouble, always need something....SHOULD pay extra - they are a pain in the ass. But they are most likely the ones who undertip or don't tip at all! Likewise, the worst DJs are usually the ones demanding the most tips!

brige.. Same here, MY DJ does NONE OF what blade does!!!
if he did i may be tempted to tip a lot more.
And blade, you say you work your ass off for 25 a girl. Would you feel right taking 80 dollors from one girl that only works once or twice a week?

so true! I never ever bother the DJ, and iv'e never seen him go out of his way for anyone. However their are those girls that are a pain in the ass to everyone including the dj and should pay more (but end up paying much less then i ever do)

    Ok here's my view...
If one of my girls WANTS to tip me above the 25 she is required to, I'm not gonna turn her down. I have some girls who bank everytime they work, all I ask is my required tipout...If they make 500-1000 in a night, what right do I have to ask for more? This is why I like a set fee, I can pretty much look at my schedule for the night and say sweet 10 girls thats 250 for me, then look at it again and say ok this one is a problem she drinks her tipout, this one has a customer who likes to bribe me to keep her off stage, etc....
Yes I accept bribes from customers, but I won't take a bribe if a dancer wants to be kept off the schedule. Then it's a simple "Mike I have a bunch of dances lined up could you skip me for a while?"I have no problem rearranging set schedules so my girls can earn money....we all know stage tips usually suck, so if ya can line up dances or champagne rooms go for it.
Maybe someday I'll open up a club and see if my way would work to run a strip joint......

I have always said that the vast majority of stripclub DJs I have worked with, or heard in action, were worthless dipshits. Even the ones with a modicum of ability still seem like morons when I see or hear what they do. Like the experienced DJs who keep playing Staind and other slow, whiny rock for my girlfriend, who asks for Rob Zombie and Korn. I am looking forward to the day when she can see a real DJ in action, but that'll have to wait a bit longer.

These guys without question do not deserve 10%.

I have worked in smaller or troubled clubs in Florida, where the DJs were paid about 40$ a shift and were supposed to be tipped 10%. These women weren't making 800 or 1000$ a night, more like 200 on average, so I did get 10% from the honest ones, without having to ask, and I deserved it.

There were also many nights in troubled clubs where I refused ANY cash from dancers who would then leave with less money than me. So when we finally got the place going, I expected to be well-treated--and I was, by the vast majority of them.

But then I was dedicated to making sure each dancer got to hear exactly the right song at exactly the right time-and i was always looking for their music on my days off. Each dancer got her own epithet and a special intro. I gladly played the big brother, bouncer, babysitter, etc.--like Blade, even when the dancer might be having a lousy night of it and I knew I wasn't going to get a dime.

Those of you who have read my posts from back when first joined have heard entirely too much about how I love those moments when she feels the creative flow--blah, blah--in fact I have been thinking of a Djoser Parody Post. I'm tired of hearing myself say it.

Noone who hasn't seen me in full effect will believe it.

Most managers have shown a monumental lack of appreciation for it. I am very proud, however, of the reaction I have gotten from dancers of many years experience, who know a truly good DJ when they work with one.

remember, the dj makes a tiny portion a night compared to what you make, they need to make a living too! imagine if you were shorted on a dance, would you speak up or let it slide?

I have never worked with a DJ who made a tiny portion of what dancers make. You should stop believing the bullshit sob story the DJ tells you to get you to tip him more!

yeah, no kidding. lets see...if there are 50 girls working and everybody tipped $10 (which is far below the required tipout of 10%) he's making more than some of the girls!

Default Re:the dj gets what? PART 2

I used to work at a club were the DJ would hound me for more money no matter how much I gave him, because he knew I was one of the bars biggest money makers. I always tip 10%! However, I am the one showing my ass, I am the one who works out 5 days a week to look fabulous, I'm the one grinding on the customers crotch ect. I understand girls are cheap, but bugging girls for more money under any circumstance is kinda shitty. I still give Dj's that are jerks 10%, but when I have a $1500 nite, I share the wealth with the housemom and the bouncers before the Dj.
