Have you done any posts on your experiences in Iceland and South Africa Melonie? Would be interested to read how things work in those 2 places.

I've heard that iceland has gone down in the money, apparently in the last few years, earning potential is not that great and iceland is an expensive country. I hear that showgirls and ethnic an black girls do very well there though.

Another country where I've heard good things is France, espec. the Pink Platinum club. Apparently a LOT of girls want to work there. I want to work there for 2 weeks in the late summer.

South Africa, huh? Not a place that would have jumped in my mind, but it makes sense. Where did you work, Johannesburg?
I'm not sure how helpful my info will be, since I worked as a feature and since I paid my own expenses and just worked there rather than signing a complicated contract with cash/expense advances and contractual time commitments (which I never do- if the place sucks I want to leave instantly with nothing for a clubowner to hold over my head).

When I was at the Club Casino in Keflavik, Iceland, you'd have thought that local Icelandic guys had never seen a girl with tits before LOL. It's the only club near the NATO base and the airport, so the majority of club customers were soldiers. The town is relatively tiny, the scenery is beautiful. I didn't get rich but it was a great working vacation. However, I did hear that future plans called for a cutback at this NATO base, so I have no idea what sort of customers or earnings potential this club might have today.

Yes, you're correct about Joberg. I was at Club Caligula. Lots better earnings potential, great club if you don't mind high contact, but there were a lot of racial "tension" issues going on in the country at the time which sort of spoiled the trip from any point of view except earnings potential. For somebody that grew up in a more or less 'integrated' society, South African culture can be hard to take. But I've never seen such "heavy money" like the white middle aged businessmen threw around down there - well maybe during Christmas Bonus week in Manhattan.

I'll emphasize again how negative I am on "credit advance" club contracts with time commitments. Even though these contract clubs do usually pay for your airfare in advance, and sometimes also provide accomodations once you get there, in one way or another you wind up paying for these 'perks' out of your own earnings eventually. It may be by being locked into working in a club that you don't like for several weeks. It may be by having to work under "uncomfortable" conditions in regard to contact levels or customer attitudes. It may also be by having to hand over a high percentage of your earnings to the club. If you try and breach your contract and skip out early on your "debt" to the clubowner, it can cost you a lot of money, it can create a lot of trouble for you in a foreign country, or both.

I'd recommend to any dancer who is seriously interested in checking out foreign clubs to save up her home club earnings, to pay her own airfare, and make her own arrangements with the club(s) AFTER she gets there and sees what the club(s) really look like and how they really operate. The idea has to be that you're going there for a vacation. If a decent opportunity to work in a local club materializes so much the better. If it doesn't, oh well !

In my mind signing a "credit advance" club contract sight unseen is no different than signing a loan to buy a car that you haven't seen or test driven ! You're committing yourself for a significant period of time and a sizeable amount of borrowed money in order to "buy into" something which you really know nothing about. If problems develop you're pretty much stuck with them. If you refuse to make your "payments", people will be pissed and hassle you. There's no "lemon law" which applies to strip clubs in foreign countries - and many don't have 'habeus corpus' laws either !

Besides, if you're contractually obligated to one club simply because they were the ones to advance you airfare, you may find yourself missing out on a much better opportunity at a different club down the street !

I'm with Melonie in that when one becomes a travelling stripper (esp. overseas).... if you can do it out of your own pocket - all the better. It will allow you much more freedom. Also, I agree in that you should look upon where you are going as a holiday and that any money you make BONUS... you've either paid for part, all or 'all and more' of your holiday.

Another location worth considering is Australia in the June-December period. Whilst our dollar isn't worth alot in other currencies... it is pretty okay to work here in Australia. Most clubs don't require anything more than proof of your ID (show you are over 18 years of age).
