    Default Shin Splints

I think that I am getting shin splints...

I have been dancing for 5 years and never experienced this. None of the girls I asked at work have gotten them from dancing. I can't imagine that dancing puts enough pressure there to cause it.

I have had them from running cross-country several years ago, but do nothing of the sort anymore. I didn't get new shoes and there is nothing particularly different about my activity levels, etc. I have evaluated the last week or two for anything that would lead to this, but I really can't come up with anything except that I picked up a couple of extra shifts.

So my questions is: has anyone experienced this as a result of dancing?
If you can't get rid of the skeleton in your closet, you'd best teach it to dance.

yes. I have. I had never experienced shin splints until maybe 5 years after dancing. They haven't been bothering me at all lately though. Once in a blue moon it will flare up slightly but it's really more annoying than painful.

edited to add that after I cut back on my hours and shifts my shin splints did not bother me also the pain in my lower back and knee went away.

Thanks Sapphire - I was mostly concerned that I was crazy. I couldn't find anyone at my club who had experienced that. I apprecaite the response.

I'll bet the extra shifts contributed to the flare up. If it continues or gets worse or starts up again later try a lower heel also, like the 6 inch instead of 7 or 8 (in addition to shorter shifts)
