    Default Crappy sleep schedule!

Bleh!!! I can't seem to get my sleep schedule regulated! It took me a few weeks after moving here to turn around to an earlier schedule, something a bit less vampirish. I went from working all night, literally, 4am was an EARLY night to getting off at 1am. BIG change. But once I managed to turn it around I did fine for a few weeks. Was waking up before noon and falling asleep soon after coming home from work.

Well now, as has always been the case, I've gotten turned back around again! AARRGG!!! Can't sleep before 6am, sleep away the day, work, get home around 2ish and can't sleep. Tried setting the alarm to wake up earlier, not happening. I just slap the thing off and go right back to sleep. Can't really work without decent sleep anyway.

So now I'm up again, haven't slept since yesterday, trying to make it til late tonight so I'll crash out and wake up at a reasonable hour, and get myself turned back around. But dammit I did the same thing yesterday (or was that the day before...?) and it didn't work. I fell asleep early, woke up a 7am, cleaned house all day, fell asleep at 8pm and woke up at midnight last night! I'm missing work trying to get this turned back, and that, along with the sleep deprivation, is pissing me off! It is sooooo hard for me to keep on a daytime schedule, it never lasts long, I always wind up reverting back to the old vampire thing. Thought possibly I'd have an easier time of it now that I'm a little older, but nooooooooooo! WTF???

How do you get and stay on a decent sleep schedule? I've been slacking on my flying lessons and gym schedule because I wake up too damn late in the day! And I need a tan dammit! I'm about to start scaring people off with my whitey white skin!

Bridge, it is easier to move your circadian clock forward than to move it backward. It is easier to be up 20 hours, than go to bed 4 hours earlier. If you have 2 days off in a row move a third of the way each day.

Bridgette, I have the same damn problem. I've been missing classes like CRAZY!!! I've missed an entire MONTH of one of my English classes! Now I have a paper due and I don't know what it's supposed to be about and I haven't read any of the material. So I guess I'll be up all night working on that! I've always been a MAJOR night owl and it just seems to be getting worse. I've been sleeping through my alarm lately! I don't know what to do either! At least I'm not alone!

I've pretty much given up even trying. I get what I call "interrupted sleep." Fall asleep around 3ish, up at 7 to take kid to school, back to bed by 8, up by 10:30am at the latest if I want to make it to class on time. Luckily that's only 3 days a week. Otherwise, I go back to bed at 8am, hopefully up by noon, definately up when kid gets out of school.

Same here, stayed up 30 hours, slept till two in the afternoon today. (No drugs... just keeping on the work schedule.) My suggestions: squeeze all the important personal/home chores into one part of the day and concentrate on being able to finish the non-time-negotiable appointments and classes while you get back on a sleep schedule. So what if you don't do your laundry for a couple weeks, just remember to feed the cat or dog, etc..... (Also, this puts me to sleep, no doubt: quality time with the vibrator!)

    I hear ya, B.

For the past 12+ years I've been on the crappiest sleep schedule ever. I don't think I even know what "sleep" means anymore. LOL.

I don't get to bed until about 4 or 5 AM, and then I'm up again between 8 and 9 AM. So, I average about 4 or 5 hours a sleep a night. For some reason I seem to function better on this schedule though. I take little catnaps with the baby during the day, whenever she wants to of course.

My hubby works until 11:30 most nights, and gets home right around midnight. So that gives me about 4 or 5 hours to get things done that I can't do during the normal hours of the day.

I've never been a day person though, I'm completely nocturnal.

I've experienced the same thing since I've gotten to Vegas. Working different hours than the usual getting off at 1 or 2.

Your club has no schedules. Have you considered changing your work schedule and going in during the day sometimes, or working longer if you feel up to it. I find day customers to be older business guys and I know those types go in your club during the day. Then you could go and work out after work. My fiancee sometimes literally pushes me to work out after work some times and once I get in the gym I don't want to leave. Plus our gym is open 24 hours.

I do that a lot. Once I get to work in the morning its ok and then I go STRAIGHT to the Gym for an hour. Once I shower and eat, THEN I am dead to the world.

Changing up your work hours and working longer shifts when you are there and then working out after work may help you build more discipline and energy.

Being at a club with business all day can be a way to play with a different lifestyle.

    Just a thought.

Another night owl here... always have been. In high school, I would stay up and rush to school every morn, then sit there half asleep until lunch. I skipped every day of my 8 am class in college, except test days. And when I had a 9-to-5, I was late about half the time, at least. I am late anywhere I need to be before noon. Can't help it... my internal alarm says "no waking up until after lunch" and it's not budging. If I have to get up early, I am miserable, just miserable! I have learned to deal with it, and just know that it is impossible for me to have a 9-to-5 job. When I dance, I never go to bed before 6 am. That's just me.... changing it is nearly impossible. So when you find the answer to this unsolved mystery B, let me know.

Well I crashed last night around 9 or 9:30, and woke up at 7:30 this morning. I'll try to get a nap before going to work, but I have to do the contest tonight at 10:30 so we'll see how that works.

I have thought about trying the dayshift since this club does have a busy dayshift, but what I get from customers at night who are day regs is the same ol thing: "Dayshift is soooo much better than nights" as he's trying to grope all over me and I'm pushing his hands away and backing away from his lolling tongue. Bleh! I'd rather stick with the 'punks' at night who don't give me such a hard time. Besides, my flying lessons are in daytime and my gym closes at 6pm (the one at my apts, I'm not paying for bullshit at a commercial gym when the dumbbells and leg machines do the same thing for free right here).

And I AM a night person. Before I got my schedule turned back around again, I was waking up by noon, but I'll never be an early riser. My clock just doesn't work that way.

I have the exact same problem. I'll be up until 5 or 6 AM and I won't wake up until 2 PM. I've come to the conclusion that I'm just not a morning person. It's funny-I've had "normal" jobs and I was able to wake up early just fine, but now that I'm dancing, I can't seem to wake up before noon. Sometimes I'll try to stay up all night so that I crash out early the next night, but that doesn't really work either. I'll fall asleep at 8 or 9 PM and I'll wake up at midnight or 1 AM.

I don't even try to wake up early anymore unless there's something urgent that I REALLY have to be at. Usually when I get off work, I'm still wound up and I don't feel like sleeping, so I'll wash my work clothes, clean my apartment, or pay my bills. It's easier for me to do whatever needs to be done at night when I'm alert and awake than to try to get up early in the morning and do it. It just doesn't work. I'll set my alarm for 9 or 10 AM to work out or go tanning or do whatever, and I'll be too tired to get up, so I'll shut off my alarm and sleep until 1 or 2 PM.

I'm a nocturnal person too and I don't think I can change my sleep schedule easily. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who has a strange sleeping schedule. It's just annoying sometimes when my friends with "normal" jobs will call me at 11 AM or noon and say "You're STILL sleeping? You lazy bum!" I'll reply "No I'm not fucking lazy, I just worked all night!" lol

Good luck in the contest tonight, Bridgette! :

That's exactly what I'm dealing with, too. I have a paper due in my comm class tomorrow a.m. and haven't been to class in a month. The most frustrating part of it to me is that it's my own fault, you know? Like I can't even bitch and moan about being so far behind when I'm the one not making it to class and pushing myself further and further behind each day....

Even after working a night job for six years, I've never entirely gotten used to it. But the best method for me has been to split my sleep time into two shifts. Usually from about 11-3 during the day and 8-midnight. I'm just thankful that I'm not working flex time anymore.

Find some hours in your schedule that you don't have to be at work/school etc. and try to consistently make those your sleep hours, even if you have to split them. Everybody's body is different, but it seems none of us have the magic to make our bodies rest when they don't want to. Good luck.

LOL I'm reading this up at five am cleaning because I worked wednesday night and didn't get home until three thirty and then by the time I dealt with the dogs and stuff it was after four when I went to bed.... and got up at seven for class, and was up alllll day. So when I got home I thought I'd just take a little nap before I cleaned the house. But I didn't wake up until one am. So now it's five in the morning and I'm up and will probably be up all day/night/whatever cause I hafta work tonight AND my house has to be clean when I get off work tonight cuz I have a freind coming from out of town tomorrow. Argh.

Bridgette, I have found in many clubs nowadays that the daytime attracts more older guys who will talk with us, spend more money, and be respectful and the nighttime hours are getting more young assholes in groups who are arrogant and won't buy dances. Fridays working days and nights combined has been lucrative for me. Lots of guys knock off early on Friday, especially those right after the 1st and 15th.

Your club is small. Extras in Hi-Liter. Gosh the only extras I've seen in AZ clubs is girls giving a 'little knee" here and there. Girls have to be bold to do hjs and such in there. If so, they obviously are dancing along the wall. Amazing.

Back to sleep. Since my hours changed, it kind of felt good to get off work at 3 or 5. I can actually eat dinner at dinner hour and watch some TV. When I'm in Houston I work days on Fridays and Sundays and every Sunday between 1 and 7 I always find 2 customers who spend money on me. The night guys are yuchy and won't spend. The day guys come in to buy dances and leave. I even notice that in clubs on the road. The good older customers come in when the club opens and are gone by 8-9.

Same in Vegas. The guys that come in the club in the mornings are older guys who don't like the crowds are friendly and even though for the whole morning shift only 25-30 guys come in, almost every guy spends at least $150 on average amonst the dancers on dances. The club is fuller at night but the average spending is horrible.

I hope your insomnia goes away. Have you tried taking Valerian tablets? They promote natural sleep. I take two before bed when I really need a good nights sleep and they work well. They are in the Vitamin section and in Wal Mart only run about $4 or so.

    Sleep tight.

Good lord no! Not talking about full out extras! Just that the dayshift reg customers who venture in at night always have the same story. "It's sooooo much better on dayshift"...as they're trying to grab all over me or do that ever so annoying hands to the crotch move, where they sit with their hands on their thighs near their crotch, and every time I move in close they move in to grab my ass. It is damn annoying to constantly have to fight their hands in order to keep MYSELF out of trouble, so I always just move on. Oh yeah, there's also the lean-in they do anytime I begin to come in close with my chest - they'll lean in either with their torso or with their heads, mouths open, shaking their heads back and forth desperately trying to get a lick on BOTH tits, as if I've got two ice cream cones strapped to my chest. I have to constantly be on my guard with those assholes. Judging from that, I'd likely do more moving on than dancing in daytime, if that's what they get away with....

At night we do get alot more young guys, 'punks', but they do buy dances and tip, in fact I often make more money from the younguns than from the older ones. I get more tips from the young ones. The younguns are definitely less of a pain in the ass because they haven't gotten jaded enough to be grabby assholes yet. I never pass up the young guys (when alot of other girls do) and I do well with them. Give me the choice of dancing for two total strangers, everything about them being equal except one is over 40 and the other is under 30 - I'm gonna pick the young one EVERY single time - he is less likely to give me bullshit. At least this is what I find here so far. I mostly only get a couple dances from the younguns, but there's enough of them in the club to keep me busy - and I often manage to get 4-6 dances, sometimes more, with some younguns.

I would TOTALLY prefer to table hop than have to deal with some grabby asshole for an extended period just because he's going to buy more dances - I keep my ass moving and I make the same money whether I table hop or get stuck with one guy all night. Remember this is just a $10 dance club, not a VIP or 'upsell' club.

But even in SOME clubs with VIPs and such, I still often made good money from younger dudes with less hassle than with the older ones. Divas in Puerto Rico was a good example. Most of my best customers there (and we're talking BIG spenders, several hundreds and sometimes thousands per trip) were under age 32. All of my regulars there were 30 and under. Rarely did I get a guy over that age who spent much money without giving me a hard time.

Here I've gotten a couple regulars lately and they're over 40, but they are the exception and they do NOT go to the club in daytime because they are working all day.
