    Default Where should Kat Move????

So I need to get out of Austin, and Texas, for a while. I've been thinking about this for quite some time, and certain recent events have helped push that envelope. My lease is month2month, I can go anytime I want.

    BUT WHERE???

I was thinking of hitting up the east coast, maybe Maryland, Virginia, or the Carolinas.

I want to live in a good sized city, not far from the ocean. I want a city that is cultured and exciting, with lots of activities, but also has a good availability of outdoor sports.

Obviously, if I choose to strip, I want to live in a city where the $$ is good, and the strip club regulations are decent, and I don't mind high contact. us:

I might also seek out a job using my international business degree, so someplace near DC might be cool, since that area would be likely to have such jobs...

I was thinking of Baltimore, but I don't know. Also, I don't want it to be toooooo cold.

SO EVERYONE GET YOUR BEST EAST COAST CITIES RECOMMENDATIONS HAT ON.....

    Thanks so much!!

Have you considered Philadelphia? It's where I work and it has all the things you mentioned. You don't need a car and the clubs are decent. Cost of living is relatively low considering it's a major city too. We have upscale clubs and bottom of the barrel. Contact levels are okay. If you don't mind a lot, there is Cheerleaders which is bikini. If you are more into one-way contact, the pastie clubs are better. I'd stay away from any nude ones. They are kind of sleazy. There is Delilah's, if you're used to working in a big, upscale club.

Money is pretty decent, but it slows down in the summer, especially on weekends. This is true of many northeast cities though.

Philadelphia maybe? There are a few high-end clubs, a fair amount of culture in the city, bolstered by a number of well-known universities and colleges, and you're only an hour or so from the "shore" (as we call it here on the East coast The night life is also very vibrant.

I haven’t visited any of the Philadelphia clubs in awhile though, so I’m not sure what the current mores are as far as contact, etc. Delilah’s was my usual choice and it was low contact IMO (dancer can touch, but the customer can’t). The rules used to be strictly enforced

The one drawback is that it does get cold in the winter, but the winters in this part of the country usually aren’t unbearably long.

If you do move to the East Coast, let me know where you’re dancing and I’ll come in and spend a Franklin or two

    Kat,

I was born and raised in NC, and I've spent the last 9 years in SC. I really don't see you being happy here. These states are very, very conservative. The ideas these people live by are old-school, and there are rednecks everywhere. In fact, I am leaving here now. Heh. I'm in Myrtle Beach; I wouldn't recommend Charleston either. Trust me when I say there is nothing cultured or exciting about SC. I have always been way too liberal for these states. The men around here are tards.... good-looking, outspoken, liberal women scare them and threaten them. This is the stupidest state in the nation, literally. Some people may like it here, I don't mean to offend. Just my opinion...

As far as the cities in NC, such as Greensboro, Raleigh, and Charlotte: they do have the population, but not a lot of culture really. The people are still very conservative, even in the cities in NC.

Virginia Beach may be a good possibility. I am thinking of making a run through there myself to check it out. I don't know much about it though.

I'd say either Philly or NJ..both have what you're looking for .. (now, i know i said the whole state of nj but i have no clue what town you'd want to live in..but there are benefits to living in nj as a whole)
At this time in my life, the only way I keep moving forward is to know that things will eventually get better..

    Well,
I have lived a lot of places, but when you look at economics, weather, beaches, things to do.
    Tampa is the place.

    No state income tax.
    Great weather.
    Good economy.
    affordable housing.
    Great beaches.
    Friendly people.
    Relatively liberal population (in Tampa)

    No snow.
I am sure the Florida group will chime in shortly.

Kat - glad you asked, what a simple answer...you're coming to New Orleans! Cuz that's where i am, what can i say, i want you all to myself! You can't have her Rhiannon, she's gonna live w/ me, gotta fight me for her!

Chicago (not near the ocean, but there's a big lake) & Philadelphia seem like good options-i've heard $$$$ is good in these cities, anyway, but it's all word of mouth, so who knows? Maybe consider the Jersey Shore, supposedly there's good money there, & all cities in NJ are close to the ocean, seems lenient as far as club regulations...but! Wherever you decide, take me w/ you... only, we might be bad influences on each-other

I'm driving x-country from Colorado to the East coast in June, & i've been looking for a travel partner...if you're up for a traveling/dancing road-trip, i could go through TX as a detour? let me know

Have you thought about Boston? one negative is the cold though. You would also be in driving distance to NY.

    Kat -
ever traveled the country much? If not maybe consider it now - for maybe the last time in your life you've no obligations, no commitments, nothing tying you down, not even a lease -- total freedom. Why not just travel to different cities and check them out. i was on the road for 6 years and loved it, saw and did so much -- learned how to have fun everywhere from KC to St Louis to Madison, WI to West Palm Beach to Houston -- at the very least you'd have some great stories to tell by the end of the summer

don't get me wrong, a lot of these place would suck to live there, but they're very fun to visit...besides, it's always fun to hook up with people when you (and they) know that the next week you'll be 500 miles away - sort of like vacation romances

Ok normally I would say screw everyone move to Ct, its close to Ny, we have Yale University in New Haven, lots of decent clubs, not to mention the fact that I'm here, etc....
But I think you need to say screw it hop in your car and tour the country. Take the summer to yourself,go new places, make new friends etc.
Of course July 10th is Ozzfest here in Ct, lots of fun happening that particular day.
I can even go so far as to offer a couch to crash on and home cooked meals if you decide to tour the new england area,I doubt Dea would mind some company.

Sorry I can't really give any advice on where to live on the east coast.

But this thread reminds of two years ago, when I just up and decided to go visit an internet friend I had met while online gaming a couple years ago. He had extended an invite to visit many times. So two of my gaming friends and I went to Paris, France for 2 weeks and stayed with a person we had never met in real life before. It was one of the most amazing experiences I will never forget.

In any case, that Twain quote pretty much sums it up, good luck and have fun.

I've never been to florida before but based upon your criteria and from what I've learned on the board, FLA seems to be the top pick imo.

    Kat,

I would say DC/ Virginia area and look for a Government Job and Dance on the side.

I'd also suggest the SF Bay Area if you liked being in Austin, but be prepared to work a straight Job and Strip to make ends meet if your not into "extras"

You also might want to look at living in Napa or Sonoma area as they are affordable and drive into SF for work. As your degree will work for you in this area--just send your resume to a proffessional head hunter to get results.

Hey Kat. Having worked in clubs in over 20 states and lived for extended periods in different major cities my thoughts are a little different. A few posters already shared this same thought.

Have you considered moving out of your place and putting everything in storage? Maybe packing your car with essentials and a months worth of clothing, reading the club comments, (the few that are there) and just hitting the road.

The reason I say this is just to up and move everything to another city and get settled just to find that you can't make money there or it's not for you could be costly.

You can get a modern extended stay suite in most major cities with a full kitchen and pay by the week. Then you can stay as long as you want and with a 48 hour notice pick up and go on to the next place until you decide the path you want to take.

Then whether it takes you 5 months or a year and a half, you can see which place is providing you the best steady income and lifestyle and then move you stuff there and make it a permanent home.

Napa & Sonoma are NOT affordable places to live. And, with traffic, they are both over an hour commute to SF. Trust me, I have lived here for 8 years. I have stripped in SF...it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. There's money there, plus lots to do. Stay away from silicon valley--no money.
