    Default Your workout regimen?

Just though't i'd start a thread where we could share our workout regimes.......

I'm trying to get back in shape, reduce fat and build muscle. I plan on taking up bikram yoga and windsor pilates, aswell as interval training in the mornings and weights a couple of times a week.

What do you do to keep fit or to get in to shape? ... i e. types of workout/exercises, how many days, etc?

Men are welcome to answer to this post

I do Windsor pilates and they are AWESOME. I workout three times per week and I eat a high protein low glycemic carb diet. In conjunction to working out, I try to run a couple of times per week. I found that you can diet and go to the gym like a crazy person but if you truly want to lose weight faster, take up jogging.

    I do various workouts...

In the morning I get up at 5:30 am and hit the gym and do the step climb thing for a total of 40mins. then I hit the Romen Chair for my lower abs. Then I do regular crunches.

Then get ready for my yoga class that morning. By the time I get home I prepare my protien shake and take my supplements.

Afternoon time I do my Carmen Electra Video. Which is alot of floor work and waist work. For about an hour or so.

Evening time: I am back in the gym and doing my weight training lower body Monday, Wed, Friday and upper body Tues, Thurs, Saturdays. and another session of cardio for another 40 mins.

That is pretty much it oh and before I go to bed i do another 50 set of crunches before I go to bed and do it all over again the next day LOL! I have no life LOL

    Hey gynger!

Yes i keep watching the Windsor pilates infommercial (sp) on TV and i definitely want to start doing it.

At first i didn't really believe the hype and thought it was a fad... but, i watched a makeover programm just recently where the ppl featured on it we're tying to look 10years younger in 10 weeks. There was one women on there who took up pilates and the results were great!!!! .... i was super impressed! I then did a search on SW for windsor pilates and it seems that a lot of ppl here love it. I cant wait to start!

I agree, Windsor Pilates are awesome! I used to be so unflexible I couldn't even touch my toes. Now, while I still have a long way to go, I'm a lot more flexible, and I only do the tapes twice a week. I should do them more often, but, well, I'm lazy.

I also do cardio at the gym 4 times a week for an hour or more. I lift weights twice a week, mostly using machines that work my lower body because if I work my upper body too much, my boobs shrink dramatically. *sigh* Any advice on how to prevent that from happening aside from a boob job would be great. I'd really like to get stronger arms so I can climb the pole in the club, but I don't want to part with my C cups, either.

I try to mix up my workouts as much as possible. I get bored so easily and that makes me not want to work out. I have started doing cardio five days a week for 30 minutes. I run (on the treadmill or on the track), spinning class ( I love spinning class although it is really hard some days), Stair climber at the gym ( it has made my ass look amazing customers always comment on it and girls at work always say my ass looks great thanks to this machine!), cross trainer machines, ect. I do four days a week at 30 minutes of strength training including Pilates, machines, Power Flex class at Bally's. Freeweights. Also I streach for 10 minutes after cardio. I think it makes my muscles look lean and long and I havent got injured yet! That reminds me I have got to get to the gym!

I just started working out about 2 weeks ago but I'm already addicted to my workout routine... I try to go 5 to 7 days a week... I put my clothes in the washer for 30 minutes while I do the stepper at the gym, then I put the clothes in the dryer for 45 mins while I lift weights (arms and legs) for 15 mins, then do 10 more mins on the stepper at a higher resistance level/incline, then do 10 mins of tummy exercises, then the final 10 mins I hit the treadmill at a 10%incline going 2mph on my tippy toes for a good calf workout. By then I have clean dance clothes and a good workout!

Does pilates make a huge difference in muscle tone or does it primarily add flexibility?

it does both Angel! Its really great also cause it pops out your abs more and give them that tone 6 pack look and a slimmer waist line! I love my Dennis Austin Pilates video I do that in the morning or in the afternoon!

Try it and in 3 weeks you will see a difference I promise sweets!

Sexyjess while some arm work does have an effect of your chest, there are plenty of lifts that work only your bicep and tricep. By working out your Bi's and Tri's you should be able to tone and strengthen your arms and it should have no effect on your C cup. Look for the lifts that isolate only the muscle you want worked.

I found this site on the web listing some Bicep lifts-
    http://www.dreamagic.com/gypsy/biceps.html

    And some tricep ones-
    http://www.netfit.co.uk/trimen.htm

If you have any questions, let me know.

    Angel:

Pilates are great for both flexibility and muscle tone.. but I have found a new addiction...

For the past week I have been trying yoga and I LOVE It! Its the bombdiggity!!! I may give my pilates a rest and do some yoga for awhile for a change of pace. I love how energized I've been feeling, I started taking Yoga because I was having so much fatigue (I have found that I showing signs of being anemic-see my post on weird cravings!)

But, Honey, what I have witnessed in this business is that no matter how big a girl might be when she starts out dancing, within a few months her body is toned, and sleeker. I worked with a girl in L.A. who was about a size 12 and about 5 feet 5 and 150, in two months she was a size 6 and 125. By combining diet, exercise and the fact that she was working and active all the time, she lost all the weight plus more.

    Gynger,

Does being anemic make you tired/cold too? I went to the doctor years ago and they said I was slightly anemic, but they said that it wasn't bad enough to cause any problems so I didn't need to do anything at all about it. But I remember in HS when the girls didn't want to go to cheer practice they would complain about being anemic which made them feel tired/irritable (of course the coach made them practice anyhow). Lately I've been feeling tired/sluggish for no apparent reason and I'm thinking maybe that's what it could be...?

Flounder, thank you very much for those links! I'll definitely do those exercises and hopefully my C's will stay C's.

As of 2 days ago, I changed my work out. Every 2nd day I plan to do weight training, an on the alternative days, to do my ''Crunch Fitness'' Tae Bo (instead of the advanced, my body is used to it now) and interval training using skipping ropes with 'static' exercises.

I hope this one will work, but I'm not too fussed, because I am leaving to start work soon and I know I will lose some weight quite quickly at first due to the pole work (esp. in conjunction with my 1000mg cla).

Ok....I keep watching these Windsor Pilates infomercials (I love them...they get me so motivated for some stupid reason) and I downloaded the beginners basic workout off of Kazaalite.....but my problem is, I can't even do the beginning stuff! Ya know how it starts off with the hundred? I can't put my legs straight up in the air! My hamstrings have become so inflexible, I can't even make a 90 degree anlge between my legs and body. That makes all the other sitting excercises impossible for me too. The best my body can do is, like, a 120 degree angle. What can I do about this? It's absurd that I can't even follow beginners workouts!!!! I can't imagine doing stretches for 3 months just so I can START working out!

Yes, I have been cold a lot lately and TIRED. So tired that I can't get enough sleep lately. At first I thought it was my schedule and etc... so a friend recommended Yoga and it was energizing and uplifting but I was still waaaaaaay tired.

Get a blood test. Mine came back today. I have very very low iron.
