Default Getting licensed (<- is that even a word?) LOL

Hey ladies! Quick Q...I just moved to illinois and was dancing in Cali where I didn't need a dancing license. I decided that I just think it would be safer all around if I had one..Can someone point me in the direction? I was thinking police department..? Also how much does it cost? Thanks a bunch...

I am surprised you didnt have a license in Cali to dance. Did you not live and work within the city limits? I know if you work and live outside the city limits, you can get away without having one. I live in Cali and ALL the dancers I know have a license.

A business license in not expensive and can be obtained normally at the local City Hall building (Licensing Bureau). You can also check your yellow pages for a listing. Each city is different as far as license fees, however most are fairly reasonable. Some are a flat fee and/or depending on your city, you can pay monthly, bi-monthly, every 6 months or annually.

It is a good idea to have one just in case it ever comes up or if you are ever asked to provide one with companies you choose to do business with. Besides the fact that if you work within the city limits, you are required to have a license. If you are unable to provide one (if ever confronted by a city official) they could shut you down as a dancer until you obtain one and possible fine you. This, too, ofcourse varies from city to city and is HIGHLY unlikely to happen. But it does happen!

Hope this helps ya!

You can only get a license if the city in which you're working requires it. And quite likely, if your city requires it, your club won't allow you to work without it.

For cities that require licensing, when you walk into a club to audition the first question mgt. asks you will be "Do you have your license?"

If you're really unsure, call your local city hall/police/vice/sheriffs etc. dept. Otherwise, really no need to sweat it.

I don't think Chicagoland requires one.

Come to think of it I worked at several Los Angeles Strip club one being Spearmint Rhino the chain and was never asked for one thats why it never became a huge concern for me to have one. I'll ask the club I'm going to audition at tomorrow if I need one. If not I may just wait until I move into the city next year. <3 thanks for the help!

I never knew the city of LA to require permits. Orange County (or maybe it was just santa ana) supposedly does but I found it was nothing more than filling out a piece of paper. City of SD you go to the police dept and go through a process similar to LV. I never heard of girls getting licensed in SF either ???

You don't need a license to dance in the state of Illinois. Just go find a club and get hired!

In general in the State of Illinois a license is not required and that includes Chicago area. Unlike Georgia where counties can require licenses, in general the power in Illinois lies in cities not counties.
The only city that might require a license in Illinois MIGHT be Peoria, and the fee is modest. Most cities in this state do not require dance licenses.

A dancing licence??? I've never heard that, I've been dancing a little over a year and a half at different clubs. I work in SF, but I visited The Beverly Club in LA for a week and that never came up. So I guess SF and LA doesn't require them?

when i was in jax they told me that they used to have a yearly fee for licencing.. it was like $70 or something, but they changed it before i got there and the law was you had to have a flordia id. that prolly limits the features that can dance there.....
