they now have these little covers that go over your artificial nails...like little booties that are supposed to block out the rays and keep your nails from yellowing...also there used to be a product that nail techs used called "creative" and one of their selling points is that it does not yellow in tanning beds. you might ask your nail tech about it or call around.

Also ask for Diamond nails..... it is a different type of acrylic and is does not turn yellow. It is a little more expensive, but it is worth it to keep pretty nails!!!

I'd hate to waggle my finger at you all, but tanning beds a SOOO dangerous!!!!! People who maintain tans in the bed are 70% more likely to develop skin cancer. Tanning Beds are even WORSE for you than tanning in the natural sun!! Tanning damage takes a long time to show up, if you tanned in your teens it will rear its ugly (very ugly) head when you're 30 years old.

Sure, you'll look sexy now in that fresh tan, but how sexy will it look when you have to have melanoma removed from your skin leaving a three inch scar? It could appear anywhere on your body, just pray it isn't on your face! Also, once you have one cancer pop up, there are almost always more. Girls can tell you stories of how they've had their 7th skin cancer removed and that they see another suspicious area developing. Skin cancer CAN kill you! It's a myth that it's a "safe" cancer. There is no safe cancer!!!!

I've been severely sunburt twice in my teens. So bad that i had second degree burns, blisters, and scars. They've all faded with time, but I'm starting to see sun damage finally rising to the surface in the form of freckles which i have NEVER had in the areas that i was burnt the worst and I'm only 20!!!!! If you're badly sunburnt twice in your teens your chance of developing skin cancer rises. Thankfully skin cancer doesn't run in my family, so that lowers my chances a little. I've stayed out of the sun religiously since i was burnt and wear sun block of at least spf 15 all over (esp on my face) whenever I go outside. Also some people get confused about what the spf number means. You have a natural tolerance to the sun, for example it takes 15 minutes of standing in the sun for me to begin to burn. An spf of 15 will multiply my amount of tolerance time by 15. That is if you don't get it wet or rub it off on something.

I've been sunless tanning for a while and I'm supremely pale. The sunless tanning products out today have come a long way from their orangey ancestors. Many celebrities opt for a sunless tan for the oscars than a real one. Altho there are still some celebrities who either don't know better or are addicted to tanning like chocolate. For example the lovely miss Courtney Cox tans out in her backyard and this is the end result:

She tans in natural sun, just think about how much worse tanning bed damage will be. Tanning prematurely ages you, gives you dark brown spots, gives you cancer, damages your hair, dries out your skin, will make acne better (at first) but will make you more oily and broken out in a few days. Plus, I've heard of people getting crabs from tanning beds! Unsanitary! Tanning beds are the ultimate cancer enhancers! Not to mention that those black lights (yes they are UV lights) damage your skin too! So wear sunscreen to the club. They're starting to notice that tanning beds are truley addicting in some bizzare way! Weird?

I'm sure most of you are rolling your eyes or have heard it before but please please please think about what you're doing! Think about later on in life, think about your little kiddies you may have in the future. Stay healthy and be prettier in the long run! Bah!
You should have gel nails anyways!
Acrylics kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiill your nails...and some will say, oh well, my nail person says they are fine...of course they would! I've seen it first HAND (no pun intended) switch to gel, they're gentler on your nails.

Those rubbery finger covers that secretaries use to flip through paperwork easily work. You can get them from any office type store.

Tiff put a piece of rubber in the sun and let it sit for an hour. The temperature difference between the rubbe and what it was sitting on will me a fraction of a degree different if at all.

What yellows acrylics is the UV light changing the chemical composition. Anything blocking that frequency of light would acheive the objective, even material. That is why the color of the nails matter, some would reflect that light.
