    Default ? about strength training

    Hi all! I'm going to start doing strength/weight training so that I can get back into shape before working. I'm very lean (definitely do not need to lose weight) and when I do work out with weights, I tend to see results rather quickly.

    In any event, I was wondering if it would be OK for me to do weight training 4-5 times a week. I've heard that you're supposed to let your muscles rest for a day after working out with weights, but would I actually be doing any harm to myself if I worked out say, Monday through Friday? I want to look toned ASAP, not just for dancing but so I can wear summer clothes, since I'm kind of self conscious about my skinniness. Thanks for any info you may have!

    Weight training every day is actually not good for you. Your muscles need a chance to relax and repair after strength training/weight lifting. If you work out with heavy weights 3 x's per week and you are not overweight or need to lose any weight, then you will see results rather quickly anyways.

    You should check out the Body-for-Life book on their recommendations of weight lifting and follow their advice. It's a great book and makes sense.
