Default thailand or australia for surgery??

    heres the thing.

some of you may know my situation,i have one breast. lol yep one of them!! i origionally got my implants in thailand and REALLY enjoyed the service, but i had probs with one side ( MY fault, dont think its the docs) so i had it removed earlier this week.

i can get it replaced in 6-8 weeks ( yippppeeeeeee!!!)

my australia PS is charging me AUD$4500, for surgery, consisting of , using the same implant, and only fixing one side.

my thailand dr is charging me AUD$1800, including new IMPLANTS, yep both of them redone, so if i want i can go bigger ( yipeee!!!) i can! i am not getting charged for his fee.

i know i shouldnt decided my ps based on price, but in this case it seems a waste of time getting it done in australia *( especially considering the problems i have had with australia drs!!) and cos im ging overseas this year to live, even if i did get it done in australia, id still have to come all the way back here to get it fixed,if something else happened.

    any suggestions?????????
i am THE worst decision maker, and im sure whatever i decide will be the wromg thing lol

i need my other boobie back!!! haha, problem is where?

Which doc do you have the most confidence in? The Austrailian doc seems to be charging a bit much to only do one breast...and use the same implant (is that sanitary?). I wouldn't know...never had anything like that done, so I don't really know the price.

I would say, for the sake of your health, you need to go where you feel the most comfortable...regardless of the price.

Good luck...sorry I couldn't be of more help!

well, I voted for australia but now I'm not too sure. I honestly don't think I'd go back to the same doctor where one of my boobs explanted (isn't that the proper term? explant?) On the other hand, I wouldn't want just one boob redone by a totally different doctor. And using the same implant? Is that medically ethical? How has the doctor been storing it? I don't see any reason to reuse the implant it's not like they're custom.

My vote? Have the other one removed, do your research more thoroughly and then have both breasts redone by a doctor in which you are so confident that you don't even need to ask us this question.

please don't go back to the thailand doc. It sounds like you are actively TRYING to have another disaster. Yes you should've been a better patient but come on!!!! And the australia doc should not be using the same implant!!! Please do yourself a favor--find a doctor who specializes in fixing other doctor's messes and go to him. He will probably be expensive but when it comes to your body you have to judge quality by the price tag. Please don't go to either doc! Do some research, or ask someone to do some for you--but please don't make your situation worse by going to the guy who clearly did a bad job, no matter how nice he was or how swanky his office is!

I like Shanny's advice the best so far. I agree don't go to either doc. How many consults had you been to anyhow prior to your surgery?

Mermaidz... since you are spending the money.. why not come to the states and get them done and done right?

I mean, I read your post and this is a huge fear among all women who undergo this procedure, but it sounds like the dr. who did them to begin with wasn't very good with your post op care.

Just a suggestion to come to the states and have them done right and be able to have a good dr. I wouldn't trust anyone who wasn't properly certified.

Ryan, be nice, although we are all here to voice our opinions, calling mermaid an airhead (and making the other comments you did)wasn't really a mature thing to do. At least she has a good spirit in regards to what has happened to her, I can't say that I would be able to keep an upbeat attitude if that happened to me.

Mermaidz, I hope that whatever you decide that you consider your safety and health above all else. Don't skimp out, remember: you get what you pay for.

I'd suggest about a third of the way between your neck and bellybutton.

I'd also suggest that you follow the doctor's advice from when you had the otherone taken out and stay around long enough for the risk of problems to fade to almost nothing. Of course that would probably double the cost of Thailand, and probably double it again if there is a problem.

You really shouldn't go back to Thailand just because it's cheaper...of COURSE IT'S CHEAPER, IT'S A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY PRACTICALLY. I'm not dissing on Thailand in particular here...but these are your tits...they aren't cats, they do NOT have nine lives. Shop around to local doctors who are of a high calibre...It may cost more right now, but in the end it will definitely be worth it.
Since i'm from Canada, both Australia and Thailand are countries i've never been too...so I might seem judgemental...but your definite better bet is Australia with a safe and reliable and possibly expensive doctor.

hmmm thats a good point. no offence to anyone here, i really value your opinions on all of this, but maybe , seeing as how no one here has actually BEEN there, or even know anything about surgery there ( other then crap media)maybe im asking in the wrong place?
what you all seem to be overlooking, and im not suprised, i did it too at first,is that the standards of my hospital in bangkok is no doubt of higher standard then most US hospitals. i know thats hard to believe, but seriously, its amazing, especially for a third world country. i dont know what you all hear on tv about the health system there, but the truth is, sure theres some REAL dumps and horror storys, bad docs and dingy hospitals, but the hospital i go to ( and there are a few others of the same standard) is a private hospital, it is, well, perfect. thats why it is the most expensive in thailand. sure you get what you pay for, more the reason to go to a country with a lesser dollar, so your money becomes "more", for a thai person, the cost of the surgery equates to what it is for me here. if that makes sence.....living costs and all that.

i dunno. maybe ill just go back there. im impressed by that place. australia is a crock of shit medically speaking. its like they dont even HAVE a medical system!! its pathetic. i went to the doc 4 different times with my implant showing, and not ONE of them helped it. i dunno, i have no faith in doctors here, plus i think its a bit weird that my aus surgeon took out one implant, and not the other, and then is going to REUSE my old implant. ewwww i dunno. i think this country is more shoddier then thailand!!!

i just wanted some confirmation i think

    i dunno.

i say come to the states to get it done. You can get it done in salt lake city for 3200 including everything(thanks gynger) and se knows a lot of dancers at her club in which they turned out perfect.

I believe it is partly the doctors fault.(don't blame yourself, doctors GET OFF that way) I believe that australia is not the best place to get them done either. You really should consider the states!

so, if you go to thialand again, they are not going to charge you anything more then the anethiesiologist's fee?

if you go (which i dont think you should, but you have your mind made up) Tell him that you don't expect this to happen again!!! Tell him that he is a board certified doctor, and you expect him to get it right this time because YOU are following post-care recommendations!

Tell him why you think it could be his fault. Doctors are quick to point a finger, and its not in their direction!

If you tell him that (dont be naive) I think he may take extra special care of you.
Do lay in bed afterwards.. no more shopping for fake louie's there!
Also, tell your man no more sex for a bit UNLESS he would like to pay for another surgery!! Lock your cat out while you are sleeping!! lol

i would hate to hear that this sugery went wrong again, BUT MAKE SURE there is no possibility that it is your fault this time!

Her surgeon in thailand was american.Wasnt he memaidnz?I dont think she needs to necessarily come to america but she need to check whomever she is going to use credentials. It is not uncommon for them to just take the implant on the sideshe is having the problem. They do that all the time in the states. But is is uncommon to reuse the same implant and that should raise red flags.Mermaidnz, do what you feel is best, I probably would avoid doing australia too because of the systm there isnt it socialized medicine?I have relatives there Ithought thats what they told me.Also it isnt uncommon for other doctors to not help you for fear of being sued for someone elses mistake.Just do what you feel is best.

When you first made your post about having your surgery in thailand, I was your biggest detractor. Mainly because I also live in your part of the world so I have seen girls who have had BA's in thailand were butchered.
Out of curiosity, however I chose to do a little research on the subject before making ABUSIVE, IGNORANT, and UNFOUNDED comments, RYAN! It turns out that yes, there are risks in going to thailand because they aren't required to make public allegations of malpractice. And, LIKE THE U.S. a surgeon is not required to have specialized training in cosmetic procedures in order to perform them.
That said, her hospital (Bumrungrad) is the first asian private hospital in the world to be accredited by U.S. and CAN. standards. Furthermore, the surgeons I researched in their plastic surgery department are all trained specifically in cosmetic procedures in thailand as well as the US and Aus.
I know it s easy to develop preconceived notions when a person is uneducated on a subject. But spouting off comments such as "your an airhead" or "thailand is a 3rd world country" only shows how stupid you are, not how stupid you think everyone should percieve her as.

Mermaid I do think you should go back to thailand. I also think you should spend some extra time there so they can monitor your progress. And this time, shop BEFORE surgery! All the best to ya girl

I second that. If you feel comfortable with your original dr., then by all means stick with him. I suggest discussing all of your concerns with him before hand and staying at least 1 week in Thailand so he can monitor your progress.

ha and for the record, im not an airhead, sure i make stupid decisons , but its not like i didnt research my hospital and drs beforehand, and i spoke to others who got implants at the same hospital.im sure that doesnt make me any more stupid then you ryan, who judges before knowing the FACTS.

Personally, I would never go to Thailand to get breast implants, no matter what. End of story. I have little faith in American doctors, much less docs in Thailand. And, discount boobs is just a disaster waiting to happen.

I would come to the states and have work done, but I am from the states. Now, since Foxee has researched it, it does give me a little more faith that this doc is credible, so since he did the implants, I would give it another try with him.

Please take a proper recovery period and do all the healthy things you are supposed to post-op, this time. By all means, do not be shopping the day after.

ha i told you it was all good there im glad you found out for yourself too foxee, its hard to convince people when their minds are made up about something lol

( i was watching one of those travel shows lastnight, they went to thailand, and literally played with tigers at this monk place, about 3 hours out of bangkok. my bf is gonna pay for us to go and do that ( its only USD$2!!!!!, plus travel costs to this place) and you get to spend an hour fully with them in their enclosure, it looked SO cool. they were really placid . im now thinking of spending a month there travelling around, and geting implants at the end of it ?)

Yeah, that sounds like fun making it into a little vacation as well. My best friend is coming out from the states in a couple months and I think we're going to spend a month or 2 kicking around thailand, bali, cambodia, and laos. I'll probably try to get my boobs done half way through our vacation. Guess it's gonna be a sober trip for me!
To answer your qustion from the other post, I'm not dancing right now. I just lost weight and I'm hoping to go make some $ next week. But, it's a bit slow here right now, so I don't have any big expectations.

if you wanna go to thailand then go there but it dosen't make sense to ask if you are gonna want people to agree with you they are all not gonna tell you what you wanna hear as for ryans comment it was a bit harsh but i can see what he's saying ...well who knows you said it wasn't the docs fault so if you feel that he did a great job then go back dosen't make sense to ask if you already know what to do ...personally i think this whole boob thing is a mess cause if your body isn't accepting one i dont see the reason to only take one out when chances are very high that the body won't accept the other ...IMHO......ok so now you only have one boob so to speak its your decision on who you want to "fix" the other one but just be carefull in what you do and remember that they are certain things in life that are unreversable with that said good luck on what/who you choose to do it

    sorry about the lecture!!
