I may look intimidating, but those that really know me, know me and can count on me as a friend.

want to get rid of it, I had it for a while and no matter what, I could not get rid of it until I found this, it worked!
Go to the link below and under the letter "T" scroll down to "Toolbar Repair" and download & run the "Toolbar Repair Utility" which corrects missing Address Bar, Toolbars and/or Menu bars in Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer and hopefully will correct your problem.

It's some sort of spyware that got installed. My suggestion for everyone actually is get at least one or two spyware killers and run them. AdAware is a good one and Spybot Search & Destroy is another. There are several, but I've been using these two in combination with one another with lots of success. I believe you can get both of them for free on www.download.com.

Also.. Run a virus scan. I had the same thing on my computer. It changed both my Internet Explorer and AOL searches so that a certain search page would show up. It is spyware, but there has been a rash of viruses going around. I found 4 on my computer Saturday night. Stupid me, I had reformatted my computer last week, and waited a few days to put my Norton's back on. So, I had 4 nice little non-destructive viruses. I think I mentioned this on another thread, but one of the virus names was "DyFuCa". It's an older virus, but I guess it's making its rounds again. And the other three were newer, but all they do is copy themselves and add them to your registry. They're simple to get rid of.
Here's an online virus scanner. It's a good one. It'll find them, and get rid of them.
Also, get ad-aware. It's a Lavasoft program. It's free. They do ask that you register of course, but you can use the program free no matter if you decide to register or not. Run Ad-Aware at least once a day. It'll get rid of the spyware, and this new version let me know about the viruses. A link is below for you.
I actually tried Spybot. It scans really good. But, you have to buy the program in order to remove any of the spyware. It was of no use to me. Ad-Aware is absolutely free. They do urge you to register it though.
But, always make sure that your antivirus program is updated with all the latest virus definitions so that it'll catch them.
Pay very close attention when you're doing searches on the web also. Occasionally, download boxes will pop up, and ask you if you want to download such-and-such a program. They're quick, and if you don't click "NO" right away, they'll download it right into your computer.
Good Luck...
