Default Looking for a good deodorant

I'm finding lately that the deodorants I'm using are not working very effectively. I've decided the secret about Secret is that it doesnt work! LOL I also have Almay. Sometimes they do their job...but not consistantly. I'm on several medications and I wonder if that might have something to do with it.
But anyway, I'm going to go buy a stronger one...anyone have any suggestions? It has to dry clear but can't be a gel or spray (cause I use it for razor burn too.) Should I go with something like Degree, made for sports? Help!

Secret deodorant really irritated my skin. All the other deodorants started to irritate my skin, too, and I also became immune to them. I use Origins No Offense deo, it's alcohol-free so it does not irritate my skin, but I have to put tons and tons of it on 'cause it wears off so easily. But it doesn't make my armpits upset, no matter how much I put on. I'm still looking for the perfect deo.

Last summer, my deodorant just stopped working. Just. Stopped. Working. It was crazy. I work in an air-conditioned corporate environment from 9 to 5, but I would be sweating through my shirt fifteen minutes after I arrived at the office. I tried several different brands and nothing stopped the godforsaken sweating. My skin isn't sensitive, so that wasn't an issue, I just wanted to stop looking like I had just run in a 10K marathon every morning at 9:15!

Finally, I saw a random commercial (REALLY random - I never saw it again!) for a product called Certain-Dri. It's a clear, odorless, liquid roll-on, prescription-strength anti-perspirant. You put it on in the EVENING before you go to bed. Wait about ten minutes for it to dry completely before you put any clothes on, because apparently it can stain some fabrics. Then you shower in the morning as usual. That's it. I was absolutely amazed that this product worked as well as it did. No more sweat stains at all!! I still wore my normal deodorant each day, but it was really just a scent thing. I love the way my regular deo smells. (Secret Skin-*Something*, Velvet Powder scent)

Anyway, if you're having perspiration issues, I would definitely recommend Certain-Dri. You can find it in any drugstore or mass retailer. I think I got mine at Walgreens. Good Luck!

~edited to add that I have no idea if those with sensitive skin would have problems with this product. Check the label to see if there are any ingredients that might cause you problems. I hope they're aren't, because this stuff is the best!

I think the best thing to do is to switch the brands every now and then..so your body chemistry doesn't get used to one brand. I great trick though for this summer is to swip your underarms with rubbing alcohol right after the shower and let them air dry. I helps..a lot

As a matter of fact, I did just that before posting about it. You may not have noticed but the search on this website is not so great. And why even say anything at all? If you don't want to read the post, then don't click on it! I clearly stated what the topic was...what exactly is the attitude about? ???

TO EVERYONE ELSE...thanks for the input!

I really was only trying to help. I know I sounded bitchy thats why I said I tried and tried to word it to not sound bitchy.

my reason for pointing out search so many of the same topics come up and not that far apart. As you probably noticed, I made a small contribution to the first deoderant thread. That's surely why I was able to easily locate it. Now we have a real deoderant info goldmine, eh?

I made the original deoderant post cause after having a baby nothing was working!! My hormones are still messed up!

I found that Dove doesn't work worth a shit!!!!!

I have bought like 6 new deoderants in the past couple months.

I like SECRET PLATINUM PROTECTION CLEAR GEL (Powder Fresh).
    - it clear and I can layer it on a couple of times
    - it smells like a flowery body spray or something, really good, not like baby powder

Degree is also ok, i kinda have been switching around a lot to see what will work.
The brands with "extra strong protection" work better than the gentle ones like dove or normal secret

I have heard Mitchem is great, but it didn't work for my sis so I didn't get any

For naked work or tank tops go for a clear one.
For other outfits put on two or three layers allowing it to dry.

Damn hormones! Are you sure you aren't pregnant?

I like the ones from the health-food store that don't have aluminum as an ingredient. Especially for women, I have read many articles that the aluminum causes breast cancer......

Dove Fresh Scent is the one I use. I never have to reapply on a full shift.

I really like Arm and Hammer. It works better than anything that I have tried.

If you are super sweaty still using mitchum or another good brand then go to the dermotologist and get drysol, it's prescription strength.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

DRYSOL! Yes this stuff REALLY works. I sweat excessively all the time and when I dance its even worse. Drysol will keep you dry. The good thing about sweating is that you body is detoxifying itself (getting rid of waste, chemicals, ect). Thats why when someone is an alcoholic... you can smell the alcohol out of their pores (detoxifying). However it been such a pain in the butt because I've had this for a few yeas now but DRYSOL is a miracle. I'm gonna try Lady Mitchum, never heard of it but thank ou for the advice!

I seem to have the screwy post-baby hormones too. I've noticed that my deodorant just isn't working right. It smells... not like BO though - just some different smell than it used to have. Like it's still working, technically, but reacting to my body chemistry oddly. At first I only noticed it when I went tanning and figured the tanning booth was baking it somehow. Then since it's gotten hotter and I've been working out more, I've noticed that it's pretty much all the time. It's weird though because I don't think I had to switch after my son was born. Do you periodically need to switch deodorant the way you're supposed to switch shampoos? I've seen some good reviews for other brands on this thread. I'm actually looking forward to a new one. I use Ban right now, which is what my mom has always used and every time I put it on I'm like, 'I smell like my mom'. Not that that's a bad thing, but it's weird. Hmm, I wonder if it weirds my husband out. ANYWHO...

Dove Invisible Solid...I know , you hear Dove and you think soft and pure and it probably wouldn't be enough. But it works really well...you should try it.

I used to be able to get away with wearing Kiss My Face deo, but all of a sudden I began to sweat more than usual...profusely in fact. I switched to Secret Platinum Protection and haven't had any problems since. It's a shame that I feel I have to use a deodorant with aluminum in it though...I am concerned about the negative effect that have been recorded associated with this ingredient.
