    Default Newbie Curious About Dancing

??? I am 19 and have always had the desire to strip. But at 19 I can only go see the nude bars and would rather work in the topless showclubs here in town. Do I jump right in or should I maybe get a waitressing job there to test the waters? Thank you for all your help!

Depending on the laws in your area, you may have to be 21 years old to dance in the topless clubs because they serve alcohol. Be aware that what you are getting into is a short-term career and not to fall into the glamour of the business. Rather you should strategize as to what you want to get out of it. Are you planning on getting a formal education while working as a dancer? What are your plans for when you are done dancing? How much do you really know about the business? Have you ever read any materials on how to sell or communicate effectively with people and/or customers. These are just a few of the questions you need to ask yourself before going in to this line of work. It can be very overwhelming for people your age, especially when you start making really good money. Be aware that it's not all fun...that you'll have challenging times frequently. You'll have nights where you may go home with less money than you came in with. That you'll be tired sometimes because it's a mentally and physically challenging job. Understand that you'll run into guys who want to date you until they find out your career choice. Know that sometimes you'll be treated and called all sorts of terrible things from drunk costomers, other dancers, even management of clubs on occasion. It's not an easy career choice at all, but if you approach it from the right attitude and have a good exit strategy with good plans through the year, you'll do fine!

I've checked and you can be 19 to dance in the 21+ clubs (here in AZ the dancers aren't allowed to drink anyway). I've talked to my boyfriend about it and he's ok with it, so is my mother (I think she's jealous! ) I am in school, and also have another job. So I have things to fall back on-this isn't like a lifetime career choice for me, just something to make some extra money and have a little fun.

I danced in Arizona (Phoenix) when I was 19! I was at ASU, and danced at two different clubs -- what used to be called "Tiffanys" (it's now Christies) and the Lions Den downtown. Both of them are (were?) topless clubs, with very little milage and a great atmosphere.

Yeah, it's a great biz if you're careful of the club. I visited a few nude clubs (wow.... this was SIX years ago...wow) and wasn't impressed with them at all, but the topless clubs were a lot better and attracted a better crowd.

    Keep me posted!

yeah, I went to my first strip club this weekend and being 19 the only ones I can go to are nude here. I had a good time but I don't think it is the right place for me. Also, they charge the girls who dance there like crazy! stage fees, and 30% of every dance on top of tipping the floor managers, dj and bouncer. I wish I could go check out the other clubs, but I can't . So once I get the nerve (and the ass!!! ) to a apply for a job I can just rely on what all my friends say!!
Thanks for your reply Susan, your picture is great!! I love that outfit and hat!!

Hi Britt, If I were you I'd start off waitressing. Which state are you in? Florida has topless waitresses. Just a thought.
