This is the mark of an organization attempting to rule by fear and intimidation. Obviously if an employee is unhappy with an organization or an organization with an employee its best to make a clean quick break,
It s almost that they want you to know who's boss and to have you come back and "face them." (I'll bet it was a cheap struggling corporation to boot.) Best to be rid of them. At one point in my life I recall workikng for Nobil Shoes (a competitior of Kinney Shoes.)
I quit and they mailed me the check. I did give them two weeks notice.
At times the large investment company I worked for had a stupid
policy that any employee who quit and sent in a memo or letter in writing to his or her boss was immediately escorted off the premises by
security but given two weeks pay. (The you quit and you are out premise.) This was also a stupid policy.
Then they created a scenario where they withheld 40% of your bonus each year and if you quit you lost the 40%.
Then it changed to they paid you if you would only quit. You got a year and a half pay if only you would leave.
Be glad you are gone.
