    Default original music?

    I dropped this topic on another forum so please forgive the cross post. I'm really curious and may consider trying out an idea. Is there any interest in using "custom" music? Like, if there were a web site that provided downloadable original music that a dancer could use to make up custom sets. Something that worked similar to iTunes store. Could this be of any interest? Or is the music's familiarity a significant factor? In the old days (50 years ago or more) this is how it was done in the clubs. Dancers worked with original arrangements played by a house band. The music was contemporary, fresh and new. This provided a welcome contrast to the "other" entertainment which consisted of "covers" of popular songs.

    What do you think?

    Thanks;

    It depends on what kind of music it is. I personally prefer music that most dancers do not dance to. What kind of music are you talking about making?

    Thanks for you response. I'm not talking about any one type of music. The idea would be to offer a variety of styles because, like yourself, some dancers prefer music that isn't "mainstream". To start with, i'm considering putting up a free (as in "no cost") test site with downloadable tracks in mp3 format that dancers can burn to cd. The styles represented (on this test page) would reflect the suggestions i've received from dancers. My ultimate goal is to offer what what dancers want/need so feedback is very important to me. Once again, the music will be 100% licence free original music.

    Thanks again;

    yeah, I'd be interested primarily in original techno beats also porno style grooves. I'm always looking for stuff that isn't mainstream.
