Default bikini line CRISIS PROBLEM lol

    ooooook guys,
I usually mess up big time when I shave my bikini line but I followed pretty much all the advice on here...soak first, take your time, sharp razor, good shave cream, put deodorant on after...and it was all good...until TODAY! (second day) I might as well have crabs because i'm sure acting like it...it burns like a mofo :'(
So i know i'm gonna have to probably break down and wax the sucker...but do any of you guys know how to counteract this? Home remedies especially since all the drugstores around here are closed by now and i'd rather grow it out and wait it out then spend a bunch of money on down there. ANYWAYS, thanks for all the help guys...and i must say, it did look awesome...if only for 24 hours.

Get Tend Skin. You'll be able to find it at a beauty supply store. It has aspirin in it, so you won't be burning/itching so much, but do not put it on broken skin.

this happened to me when my skin wasn't used to shaving. If you shave regularly, but not everyday the burning problem might go away.

Try shaving again maybe? I think I shave sideways. I have heard going against the hair completely can cause problems. Also don't go over the same spot a bunch of times! Especially without the cream on it. Go without underwear and the irritation "bikini line" area will not be nearly as irratated. At least sleep without underwear, its good for you.

You also need to exfoliate every day to combat the ingrown hairs. i mean scrub!

Drugstore brand acne cream w/10% benzoyle peroxide does wonders for easing shaving-related irritation. Just only use it before bed and only when you are wearing clothing that you don't mind getting faded.

    Tif,
I have the same problem! I've been trying to shave more regularly for the past several months, but nothing seems to help.
So, I made an appointment at a salon for a wax. I hope it works... never tried it before.

Seriously, shave with the direction of hair growth and it should really help keep you from getting ingrown hairs. And invest in a good razor, a Mach 3 or something.

I swear by Kiss My Face Moisture Shave, I find it at Whole Foods or Central Market and it is economical and awesome. Try not to shave against the grain and cortisone creme will keep any inflamation down and if you do get razor burn it will keep you from itching it and causing more problems.

I dont know whether anyone else does this... I cant shave everyday - there is just no way so I tweeze the hairs with a tweezer. It really doesnt hurt. Ive thought of waxing but I dont have the balls to do it. Tweezing leaves me hair free for about a week and a half. It takes long as hell tho. I have a "landing strip so I teeze almost EVERYTHING. Takes me about 2 1/2 hours for it all!

You ladies should really be waxing.

Its so much better. Smoother, lasts much much longer, and doesnt leave any irritation.

I know this as my ex used to get regular waxes every other week at a salon. But after a while I started doing her waxes for her(salon wax is $$$). Its pretty easy, you can even do it yourself if you feel like it. Im a pro at it by now.

It only hurts the first time or two....i know, i let my ex wax me...its not THAT bad.

If you are shaving or waxing....as soon as the hair starts to grow back, while you are in the shower use your nails and slightly scrape against the grain of the hair. This will keep ingrowns away.

What works best for me...is to get in a hot shower for a little bit, then shave with a new razor and skintimate shaving gel, after youre done shaving...stay in the hot water....then right before you get out...splash the shaved area with COLD water. After drying off put on some good lotion (one that doesnt contain OIL).

Thats what has worked for me and my ex.

Well, I pluck as well, I find it's much better than shaving, cheeper than waxing too, I do shave the under area though, if you keep up plucking every two days or so I find it only takes me 15-20 minutes a time to do this. It's weird but it works: Pepration H, it helps big time for the razor burn!

I get a good wax for the inner region like every month. But honestly I have to be smooth for when I go to work so everything that I can get to gets shaved. I use this stuff called PFB Vanish by Skin Care Technologies and I haven't gotten any ingrowns for months.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

:o I can not believe that some of you ladies are tweezing the pubes! Wow...it does sound like it works well, but how painful is that? Geezum...I thought I had a high tolerance for pain, but I guess I don't.

You can try shaving with baby oil to reduce redness. Always used a sharp razor too. Avon and Physician's Formula sell greensticks you can use to cover redness at work.

I shave my legs with baby oil and shaving cream and it works great. I just can't get the same results with my bikini area though. I can pluck, but it does take FOREVER. So looks like waxing for me. Does anyone know how long it has to grow out??

I just went last week for a wax with a one weeks growth and she said it was too short. So she had to tweeze what the wax didn't get :o She said to let it grow for 2 weeks, although I just can't do that! But my hair down there grows slowly too. FYI, she said around 1/4 inch is needed to get a good wax. By the way, I also bought Tend Skin while I was there and it works great!

[glow=red,2,300][/glow] I've been reading a bunch of posts about this same issue and everyone says stuff about no oil?.. Ive had this same problem redness/ingrowns for about a year and the other day i tried a product i got from the spa down there. it's called clarins lotus oil face treatment. it's amazing not only did it get rid of my ingrowns overnight but it takes away the redness. i also use clarins exfoliating body scrub also superb

After I shave down there I just put a thin layer of Neosporin over the area, and no razor burn the next day!

ive tweezed and it hurt like a bitch!~!!! customers dont get weird about having the hair be that long? i mean 1/4 inch is pretty small, but when theyre used to bald, its not weird to them?
ive never had any problems with ingrown hairs when i shave over my lips, but when i shave the mound part its not too good. never really any ingrown hairs, cause i do that scratching thing, i like how it feels but there is a little redness and ever some parts look like the hair is still there!! im a natural blonde, and the hair that grows on my lips is blonde, but on the mound its brown. would bleaching it help?

abotu a week ago i tried to wax ,, bad idea. bad bad idea. i usually just shave it with a hair shaver so its pretty short but not bald. but now since i waxed a week ago,,, ( i acutally only did the top part nothing below the clitortis area... and it really hurt,, and i have some ingrowns that are very uncomfortable.

for girls that wax,, i was wondering because you need to let it grow out some before you wax again,, does that affect buisness,,
do you even need to shave and wax? is it really necessary to have not hair,,, or can i just cut it really really short? i have tried shaving in the past and had really bad burn and itch and i really am not looking forward to it...
