I already have some clear plat spikes: http://store.yahoo.com/snaz75/pl-kiss-208.html Other than thongs, string tops how much other clothing should I initially get ('real' clothing), I dont know what I should have...(how many skirts, what else) Needless to say, on the budget of a college student/barista, expenses are limited.

You can never have too much black (unless you are black, in which case you would look better in white).

Save your money, most strippers can easily start off with a bikini top, thong, garter, bikini wrap/sarong and the shoes. That's it. Collect outfits slowly and carefully, as these costumes are expensive as all hell and most of them are highly impractical on the stage (even if they do look cute on the rack). There are few things as annoying as a $100 outfit which doesn't make it through the first wash, or a catsuit that you simply can't figure out how to take off when you're on stage.

What you need will depend upon your club. My club is evening-gown only Thurs-Sat, so I own a lot of floor-length gowns but no booty shorts. Scope out which clubs you'll be likely to work at before you spend so much as a dime.

To start in an evening gown club:
Try to get away with a long sarong tied around your waist and a bikini. Some more informal clubs will allow this. Then use your first earnings to buy a decent gown. Do NOT buy a gown from JCPenneys. Try the gown on before buying it, make sure it is the proper length for your club but doesn't trip you. Check the seams and be sure they are sewn tight. Find something simple and easy to care for. Expect to pay $100+. You should need just one, maybe two, gowns for the whole shift and you CAN get by in most clubs with just two gowns until you have enough in savings to splurge on another.

To start in smaller, down-home type clubs:
Black booty shorts. These are all-purpose and look good on almost anyone. Get some tee shirts from Hot topic (I like happy bunny) and cut them to show off arms and midriff. Black trouser stockings from PayLess work fine and cost $1. Hot Topic also has some great fishnets, fence nets and assorted colors and unique accesories.

Never, ever blow a lot of money on stripperwear. Too many of the costumes are impractical and poorly made, and most people have far more than they need. Just stick with the basics and develop an eye for creating costumes that are striking without breaking the bank.

Actually, this might not be a good idea since some clubs don't allow cut tee's, it needs to be sewn, like a baby tee.

Alot of dancers at the club will be be selling outfits for pretty cheap.

It all depends on what type of club you will be working in. Please tell us and we will be able to give you better answers.
