    Default Fawnia's upside-down spin... and BOOBS!

    So I've been working on this upside-down pole spin for a while, and I'm really having a hard time. I'm talking about the spin where you 'walk' up to the pole, grab it hand-over-hand and kick your legs up over your head. I know how to do the move, but I keep slamming my boob into the side of the pole as I'm kicking my feet upand it REALLY hurts. I think it's because I'm starting to spin before I've even gotten my legs over my head. Is that just a lack of upper body strength, or is there some trick to make it easier? Does anyone else have this problem? If I had implants, I'd literally be afraid of popping them. As it is, I just have bruised and aching natural D's. Also, Fawnia doesn't have much of a chest. Does having boobs make this move more difficult, or do I just need to work more on upper body strength? I know there are posts about this move, but I didn't see the breast issue addressed. THANKS!

    It's a problem with having boobs...LOL...you may want to try to tone the momentum down. The move that Fawnia does puts a lot of momentum into it and thus you smack your boob into the pole. Have you tried starting from a standing position and sliding down? It's not a spin, but it does seem to be a little more "boobie friendly".

    Oh, it may also be your alignment with the pole. Maybe have someone who already knows how to do the move watch you and see what you are doing...

    I've never even seen anybody do that move except Fawnia. From what I remember on the video, I bet you need more upper body strength for control. Probably abdominal strength as well since I'd imagine you're using your abs alot as well to bring up your feet. Why don't you send Fawnia an email and ask her? When I bought the tapes several years ago she was very friendly and followed up with a little message. I'm sure her email is on her site.

    I can do that spin, and no boobie-slamming for me... but then again, I'm relatively flat.

    You might be grabbing the pole too high. I put my lower hand right at shoulder height and my upper hand about 9-10 inches above that. Try standing a little closer to the pole and kicking up from a stand still rather than " running" towards the pole. Really tuck your abs. If you don't, you will hit the pole. I don't have much in the way of boobs, so for me it was bruised ribs when I first tried this. Work on strength and control rather than momentum.

    I do that spin and I remember the bruises involved when I first learned it, lol. But I think the strength was more in my abs, rather than upper body. And like Ronnie said, work on strength and control! Good Luck!
