The skin on my elbows and knees is darker than my skin. I use a pumice stone, but it doesn't remedy the situation. Does anyone know what will?

I am kind of curious myself.

Aveeno Oatmeal body lotions work amazing on dry darker skin.. I dont have it on my knees but as for my elbows I found Aveeno lotion and Cocoa Butter work really well, usually when its darker its because of dry cracked skin.. look for something for dry and cracked skin and use it religously and it will lighten up.. I cant say one product works better than others but like I said i like Aveeno... the pumice stone with the lotion will help get rid of that dead skin too so keep on with that, I'll have to unpack some boxes (I just moved) but I know I have something I used to use that worked really well, When I fig thru shit and find it i'll post more infoo for ya![]()
Do you use instant tanners at all?
I think that most people (especially people who are not WHITE, WHITE) have this. It's just an excess of melanin in the skin in those parts. You can use lotions to help even out the roughness, but I think most people have it.
I have it a little...not too noticeable...

have you tried bleaching with lemons? cut a lemon in half and rest your elbows in it for 5 mintes. I can't remember if you're supposed to exfoliate first or after. ???
Sometimes this is due to too high of a sugar level in the body. You may want to see your doctor.
Definetly true... dark patches on the skin esp. in high friction areas are sometimes caused by high sugar levels or diabetes.Originally Posted by Shelbie link=board=5;threadid=9249;start=msg110500#msg1105 00 date=1084853573
I've always exfoliated afterwards, and try to use some extra lotion /olive oil/cocoa or shea butter...just use it religiously for about a month and you'll begin to see a difference.Originally Posted by Sapphire link=board=5;threadid=9249;start=msg110354#msg1103 54 date=1084830336

"Acceptance is right. Kindness is right. Love is right. Scrub with salt and water daily until you are happy with the results. These are the spots that buld up dead skin fast. After your scrubs, use a light body moisture lotion on the knees and elbows. Skin bleaching on these parts wont cut it, these products are temporary anyway. You need to get and keep the dead skin off these areas.
And yes after a nice salt and warm water scrub, try a lemon bleach. Just cut the lemon and hold it on the areas for a short time. Once you get that skin off, it will be easier to maintain with a shower and wash cloth.
Also baby oil makes these dry darker areas look better too! And probably helps to take dead skin off as well.

ok saphire is right on the lemmons. benefit makes a great product especially for that problem. I forget what it is called- it comes in a round container and smells like roses. I like to put it on my elbows and knees before bed and work. It eliminates ashiness and makes your skin appear lighter. try it!!! it works.
