Default Should I change my name to keep a friend?

Hi, I recently started working at a new club and I go by the name of Victoria. I truley love my name and I think it fits me. Well a very beautiful dancer by the name of Veronica wants me to change my name.

We are both light skinned african americans so i guess people may think we look alike. She says the fact that our names are so close dosent help and she keeps getting on me to change it.

I told her that I would change it next week but I kind of want to change my mind and keep the name. When I was a customer at the club she gave me a free table dance and during amature night she tipped me and cheered for me. I really don't want to loose her comraderie. She says it REALLY bothers her that our names our so close. I tolds her that she shouldnt change hers b/c she has senority and i respect that,

so here are my questions how should i handle the situation? do names really matter, if i changed my name would I make less money? and if I do change it what shoudl I change it to?

I understand both sides of this, I don't like it when people have names that are extemely similar to mine, especially if there is a physical resemblance.

Good idea from Lena. Have the DJ introduce you as Tori, and when guys ask your real name, same victoria. Win Win situation

Yes, I agree with Lexi and VV. Use the nickname and then tell them that your FULL name is Victoria. If you like that name, keep it.

We already have a victoria that is introduced as Tori, so I would have to use Vicky. I ran that idea by Veronica and she wants me to drop the V all together and get a totally new name....what to do?

LOL wow.. Seems like you just can't win, girl. I'm not sure if I'd bend over backwards to change the whole letter. They seem a little too demanding.

I would use Vicky. You don't have to pick a name that doesn't start with a "V" just because they can't deal with it.

I hate to think of how these girls were in school, and someone had the same exact name as them.

I am with rhiannon on this one. go by vicky, but don't tell customers that your name is victoria, because the customers would get you confused with both of them then. Are there any other names that you like, too? Maybe just to avoid the confusion first and second not to hurt a co-worker.

I worked with a light-skinned girl that went by Olivia and that worked really well the the customers. This is just my two-cents though.

If there are other possibilities that you thought of maybe we can help you choose one?
