    Default Having a little trouble...

    * Hi, I apologize for having this on both the body and this forum. But I am also soon to be a newbie and just really want help on this. I apologize to anyone who may be annoyed... * Hey girls! I've been an avid reader of this sight for quite some time but never a writer..anyway...I was hoping that I could get some of your wonderful advice on a little problem I've been having trying to diet. Right now I am 135 pounds and at the height of 5'2...so yeah I need to lose some weight. I've been trying so hard to find something that works for me. Working out isn't a problem since I've always been an active person. I just eat so much junk food and sugar. My problem is that I can't find a way to eat without feeling deprived and then ultimately ruining my diet by BINGING on candy, cookies, ice cream and such. It's getting really frustrating because now I weigh a little more than I started. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas to help me control this lol. I'd like to eat a few small meals a day, but have them be satisfying but low in fat and calories. If anyone could help me or has any advice on this I would appreciate it so much! I've seriously tried everything I can think of, which isn't very much. I don't want to lose sight of my goal and right now this really has me down. Either write it here, PM me or PM me to find out my e-mail address. Thank you so much. ~ BB.

Have you tried lean-cusine or the other "diet" preplanned meals from the grocery store? I eat alot of them, because I really do like them. This might help you to balance out your binges, beause you are eating a full meal. Also if you really do feel the need toeat potato chips than lays has great baked chips and pretzels are ok choices.

I have used this method for about 6 months now (my baby is now 15 months) and I just couldn't drop the weight like with the other two. I also do yoga, legs, abs and buns of steel. You can find the steel movies pretty cheap now, because they are a little older. Also I walk about a mile or so a day with my children and hubby.

Stay away from the frozen dinners. Microwaving them (nuking them) kills everything in them...

Cook in bulk. Buy frozen veggies and steam them. Drink a glass of water with each meal...eat 5-6 times per day (small, tasty meals). I would personally suggest buying and following both the Body for life book and the Eating for life book. They are very sensible...and the food you prepare with the EFL book is REALLY good!!

There is nothing wrong with wanting sweets...but maybe instead of eating candy, cookies, etc, you should try replacing them with sweet fruit (mangos, oranges, strawberries, etc). Or just drink some water and go for a short walk (until the urge passes).

    Well, hope that helped!!

I think I sent you a diet that I used but I also understand and am not perfect either so here is what I do to help my sanity lol!

I eat very clean all week meaning Monday-Saturday then either Saturday evening or afternoon I have a cheat day were I can eat whatever I want and not feel guilty about it. I also started to buy the weight watchers deserts and let me tell you THEY ARE SOOO GOOD AND TASTY! Loving the chocolate sunday they have out. And the plus its not that fatting and you stay within your diet.

Or me and my boyfriend eat out instead of a regular soda I get ice tea or water. You can't just go cold turkey you have to take baby steps so if you like fast food don't get the fries and get a diet soda, then get a chicken sandwich instead of a hamburger, etc..

I also am a big believer in having deadlines and goals you can't just diet to just diet. Like myself my deadline is Mid July or begining of August to try out to be a dancer "stripper" so I am doing everything I can to get my body prepared for that. SO you should have a goal in mind surround yourself with postive slogans like I CAN DO THIS! JUST 4 MONTHS AWAY TO MY GOAL! HANG UP PHOTOS OF WOMEN'S BODY YOU WANT TO LOOK LIKE AND TAKE SOME OF YOURSELF AND SEE HOW YOUR RESULTS ARE COMING!

Remember the weight loss world is a battle and lifestyle change nothing happens overnight. Don't beat yourself up just make small changes and pretty soon you will be were you want to be at!

i used to have a little trick.. I used to weigh 100 lbs about 3 years ago, and then i went to ukraine for 7 months, and ended up gaining 20 lbs. Which was exteremly depressing since i was a ballet dancer. So when i got back to the US, i would look at my photos of when i was thinner, and it sorta inspired me to eat healthy, ide just carry the photo around with me, and everytime i had a craving for icecream or something, ide just look at the photo, and eat something healthy instead. Now im down to 110 lbs, and perfectly happy.

Also, a funny idea my friend told me was to put a lil plastic pig in ur fridge, so whenever youde open the door you would see it, and close the door. Stupid but funny idea.

Honeygymgirl, i am not sure your diet plan is very good. Since all week you are dieting, and your metabolism isnt going up from all that dieting. And when you "eat all you want" on the weekends, it is possible to gain more weight than you lost, since your body isnt burning calories as fast as it would in the beggining. One big cycle.

Its definetely a lifestyle that you need to change.

I used to be your same measurements. I slowly made changes. Like being active in fun ways and working it out at the gym. I very slowly changed my binging habits by filling my life with positive things and being to busy and full of joy to binge. I also learned to respect my body.

Once I quit obsessing about food and the size of my short little thighs I lost the weight.

the one thing that i have done for my entire life is ballet, i am lucky to have never really had a weight issue yet but i also dont have kids either. but the point is that this totally worked for my best friend...she was 5'3 and she got up to 130 or more and she began taking like 3 or 4 ballet classes per week....wow! over one summer her body went from blah to bangin!!!! it is amazing what it can do for your muscle tone and shape and everything!!! it is the best suggestion i can think of , oh and also dont eat after 6 pm. i used to work at a gym and that was one of the first things that all the trainers told their clients. hope this helped.

LaFemme: There is actually nothing wrong with this diet. In the way that Honeygymgirl uses the "eating method". As long as you are doing cardio and weights throughout the week, then ONE day of "binge eating" wouldn't hurt your workout one iota. But, again, this type of eating should only be done with a good cardio and weight training program.

true true, im sure results will be much more visible, if you just eat healthy all the time. then again, that takes a lot of will power.

Excately, I do tons of cardio and hit the weights 5 days a week and do double cardio in the morning and evening.

What I said was I have ONE CHEAT DAY A WEEK! I eat clean all week and on Saturday or Sunday I have ONE CHEAT MEAL not ALL DAY. Sometimes I don't have a cheat day just depends on my mood and my cravings so yes MY DIET WORKS FOR ME!

Hi! I can totally relate to your problem. I started dancing a little over a year ago at 5'2 and 107 lbs. I am now at 135. I have tried everything also. I know there are girls that are fatter than me at the club, but I've been to self-conscious to go to work. Are you still working? Have you got any good advice as far as diet goes? If you like fruit, try looking up what you can about the Catabolic diet. I heard it's awesome and I'm gonna try it too. Good luck!!!!!!!

I just have to ask some of you girls - a lot of you are around 110/115 pounds and are my height, yet when I look at a lot of the pics in the galleries of girls who've given their weight, y'all look about the same size as me! (and I weigh ~125lbs). Wow. Don't you girls have muscle? It makes me think that's what's accounting for all my extra weight in comparison, yet I'm no muscle woman!!

    I'm REALLY curious!

Malibu I don't think weight on a scale is the best indicator of how our bodies look. Everyone is so different you really can't judge by a number. Some people have heavy bones and some are very muscular but you can't tell my looking at them.

I weight less than you and have a ton of muscle but I have fat in just the right area's, like my waist, so I don't look as good as a lot of girls.

MotherDaisy, that is very true. And I am always a pusher for saying that you should aim to look and feel good first and foremost before weight comes into the equation. But I see more comparisons between other members than between myself and them. That's what made me raise the question.

It must be my West African genes making me more partial to being a little heavier. Anyway, thanks for the response.
