Default has anyone worked in alaska?

I am considering going to alaska in June and July to work at the bush company. If anyone has worked there can you tell me about it. Like what is a bad night earning ptoential$$? and what is a good night. Is there a better month to work in the summer? How is the contact? Are there a certain number of days you can work? Also how is management and tip out fees? Thanks so much to anyone that can help!

Summer is the best time to work in Alaska, however, since it's peak season, it's not as easy as just showing up and working.

You need to get a booking, and new girls are always put on the slower shift. You need to be there for at least a month, and accommodation prices skyrocket in summer.

This info is from a friend who worked at the Great Alaskan Bush Company. I thought about dancing there this summer too but I'm not sure if I'm willing to stay for a whole month and you need to sign a contract. I suppose you could take off a week or two after starting, but you could forget about ever working there again if you do that.

I have previously given detailed info on work at Bush Company and Crazy Horse in Anchorage.

Go to the search function at the top of the page, key in Alaska, and read my posts #25, 95, 97, and 127 give or take a number or 2 if other posts are on here since this one.

I know I can be a bubble burster, but I worked there from July 2000 to December 6th 2000. I speak the truth.

I get a strong suspicion that many dancers are looking for big money places to work.

    There are NONE.

Any dancer considering going to Anchorage must be willing to make a COMMITMENT. There is an big expense involved in going here.

The cost of going, especially for you east coast girls is going to put you in the hole more than you will make your first week working full time.

The clubs there are treated like 8-5 jobs. You WILL pick a 5 day per week schedule. You WILL be at work and on the floor by 4, (7 if you work Sunday) and work until 2, 2:30 on weekends. NO CALLING IN SICK, THEY MAY WANT A DOCTORS NOTE. If you are the type of dancer who doesn't treat dancing like a mainstream full time job, this is not the place for you.

It is not busy everyday and weekend nights get the same flood of young fuck customers as the lower 48 clubs.

If you are not WILLING and ABLE to stay for 2-3 months and to accept the slow with the good you should not go.

The club will have peaks and valleys just like in the lower 48 and you must stay long enough to recoup your expenses and make a profit. Working Mid-June to the end of September is good. If you do that and save your semi monthly paychecks for 3 months that should cover your car shipping, gas to Seattle and airfare both ways.

Unless more INEXPENSIVE extended stay motels have been built, in the summer long term housing is tight. Check this out 1st. Having to pay $80-$100 a night for a room or more is bankruptcy for a dancer.

Lots of people ride cabs there. That is costly.

Most dancers don't travel as I do, but I RECOMMEND calling the auto transport companies (look in the Anchorage phone directory) and see how much shipping your OWN CAR from Seattle/Tacoma will be . It ran around $700 when I went.

That is much cheaper and you can fill your car with your belongings and just fly to Anchorage from Seattle, which is about a 4 hour flight. Saves on cab fare and you can bring some dishes and bedding. Driving back from Anchorage to Washington State is 2000 miles but if you have never driven through British Columbia and the Northwest Territories I recommend it to everyone. I drove it coming back. Plus that saves you the fee of shipping your car. We drove straight from Anchorage to the states and got a room in Whitehorse Yukon and Prince George BC and if your car takes 5 tanks of gas for 2000 miles as ours should run about $250 to get back to the states. Nice drive and scenery.

My prior posts will tell you more.

Don't look at big money or a short trip. If you are not able to make the commitment for the summer, I strongly advice against going.

I did alright at the Bush Co. They have a strange setup, though, you pay them, then they turn around and pay you.
But as was mentioned before, it's not as easy as just walking in. And there is a commitment issue, if going during peak times.
