    Default Sparkly kitty!

Well, I finally got the chance to get my hood piercing... and I love it! I even got to get the rhinestone balls for the barbell instead of the boring silver ones. LOL, I was so excited... Hey! It's the simple pleasures in life! :silly: HOWEVER, I got it done maybe 7 hours ago and it bled like nobody's business. It seems to have slowed down in the last few hours, but my piercer said it would only bleed a little, so it really surprised me. Not to be too gross, but I bled completely through a pantyliner in less than 3 hours. Is that normal? I mean, it's a puncture wound not a period! I plan on calling the tattoo parlor tomorrow to ask about it, but I was wondering if anybody had any experience in this department. My navel only bled a little bit when I got it pierced, so this really freaked me out. I was thinking that maybe he pierced through a small vein or something and I just have to wait for it to clot. Does that sound legitimate? The guy is pretty good and definitely reputable, so I'm not worried that he did it wrong, I was just wondering about the excessive bleeding. Any ideas? THANKS!

sweety i dont think that is normal..unless you are irritating it in some way which is not letting it heal....are you wearing loose clothing...if it persists get it checked because it shouldn't be able to fill a panty liner...

did you take anything that would have thinned your blood (i.e. aspirin)? that could be the culprit..

Or alcohol. I would definitley have it checked if it continues. I have several friends that had it done and all say that it hardly bled at all.

That sounds odd indeed. Mine spotted after the piercing and no more blood to be seen again.

Check if you took anything the others mentioned that may have thinned your blood. If not and if it persists, contact your piercer. Because it means that you still have an open wound and it'll leave you more suscecptible to infection.

LOL, everybody always jumps on the aspirin thing. Nope. No painkillers or alchohol here. However, my husband pointed out that I do have low iron, since delivering recently and that thins out your blood. I was going to call but it's hardly bled at all today, so I figured I'd just wait it out. Thanks though. I think it probably had something to do with the low iron count. LOL, and I LOVE it... it's so cute. I keep flashing it to my husband just for fun. I am such a fan! k:

Way to go girl! I just got up the balls to get it done myself. Holy SHIT that hurt! But it's better now. *whew* If you really want to talk to someone who KNOWS what she's doing, email my piercer Dawn (anyone can PM me for the email addy or phone number). This woman is AMAZING!!! She knows everything, has had everything done to herself, and has been in the business for a LONG time. Mine bled a lot but that's because I had alcohol before (I know, I know, no alcohol 24 hours before, but I knew I wouldn't have another chance to get this done). It's stopped now. If you have a problem with it tomorrow, I can give you Dawn's number and you can call and talk to her. It might be that it's a curved barbell and not a captive bead ring (it puts more pressure on the area). I wanted a curved barbell but Dawn insisted I get a CBR first and then if I wanted to change later, I could.

It hasn't bled at all since Day 1 so I'm not worried about it anymore but it did really freak me out. As for the barbell, it definitely causes more pressure. Plus, they use a fairly long one to compensate for any swelling (which there hasn't been any), so the bar just HANGS on the piercing. From looking at the way it's just weighing down a puncture wound, I'm surprised it doesn't hurt. Most of the time I can't even feel it, but there are occasional moments of shooting pains. LOL, like when my 24lb son just plops on my lap without warning, or my 3 month old wriggles around and kicks me... And there's a brief second of pain when I make the mistake of bending or squatting when my legs are slightly apart, you know, pretty much the way you bend or squat all the time, LOL. I guess the labia opens up and the barbell hangs from the top hole of the piercing and that's not all that cool, but whatever. Other than that, I am so loving this thing. How do you like yours?

lol...yeah, I'm getting the shooting pains too. I keep wondering when it'll stop hurting and start feeling good! So you got a sparkly barbell? That's what I want for mine when it heals. In fact, I was just looking on the web for good body jewelry places and I can't find anything! All of the curved barbells I find are for your eyebrows. It's really getting annoying. I used to know a good site, but I can't remember it. Anyone know of one?

    Hey SCGirl check out http://www.bodycandy.com/

They have some really cheap rings on there, though I didnt check if they have things for the hood peircings. I did get a few belly rings and they were 1.99, and some are more, but hey!

Congrats on the new piercing smittenkitten.
You will find that you love your hood piercing very much. Mine is just over a year old, and I still can't stop playing with it and showing it off. Try this site also.
