Default From one vice to the next...

Well, I finally have completely given up drinking at work. In fact, I've given up the majority of my drinking all together. One day a week, Saturday or Sunday is it. And let me tell you, at the club I was at last week, it's fucking hard not to drink! 11 hour shifts, asshole customers, and sheer boredom, sitting at the bar, Vodka staring me down! But lo and behold... So I started smoking pot again. I'm rather enjoying it. I still eat extremely well, put in my days worth of weights and cardio, (which were all things that suffered terribly when I drank) and feel fabulous waking up in the morning.
So what do you think? Was it so bad to switch from one drug to the next? I'll experiment with maybe smoking it at work every other day to make sure I'm not depending on it to get me through work. Shit, one hit and I'm already flying... It's been awhile! What I don't need are the cautionary lectures of getting caught with it... Heard it all before, know what to do.

Personally, I do not think it's a good idea. What about the health implications? The long term damage of smoking anything is not gonna benefit your body (whether you do cardio or otherwise) and when you find you want to get off the drug, it may prove a tougher struggle than you thought. Just remember that with drugs, one day you're not going to be the one in control of it anymore.

I personally do not think that doing this means that you've overcome your old vice; you're merely just covering it up with another troublesome habit. When you want to remove yourself from something like drink, don't place another addictable and possibly detrimental habit in it's place

And apart from that, you know the other obvious reasons why you shouldn't smoke pot so I'm not going to go on.

Anyway, on a lighter note, it's your choice but just have your better interests at heart. x

I realize that at work I've replaced one vice with another (as I've previously stated), but on my days off, I now neither drink nor smoke. Whereas I drank all the time! Without the drinking also, I quit smoking cigarettes. Maybe I am going about it all wrong, but somehow I think I'm headed in a better direction. Smoking will get old for me quick, I used to do it as a teenager and wasn't dependant on it like drinking. Also, I refuse to go out looking to buy it. (This stuff was given to me a while back) Shit, if I know I'm going to do one or the other, might as well be the latter.

Go for it!! A little doober action might be just what Dr. Sin called for!

Myself, I can't smoke pot at work, it kills the mercenary in me, LOL....

Pot's not good for you, but I think drinking is much worse for you than pot is. Girls puke, fall down, get into fights with other dancers and customers, and pass out in the dressing room when they're drunk. I've never seen anyone do any of these things while they're stoned.

A lot of people get loud, obnoxious, and argumentative when they're drunk. From what I've seen, pot makes most people mellow and happy. I wouldn't do it every day, but a couple times a week would be okay.

I have to agree that it seems you're just going from one bad habit to cover up another. Can't you just deal without either of them? It sounds like you are dependant on some type of escape.

    Just my honest opinion.

I don't see what's wrong with it in moderation.

I say if smoking the pot helps you quit drinking.... go for it. For now anyway, it is better to give your body a recovery period from all that alcohol. Long term... different story. But maybe eventually, you can quit smoking too. I would say that you are doing good to replace alcohol with pot for now.

I was thinking about this post last night debating on if I should respond or not. Please understand that this is coming from a kind place.

It sounds like you're becoming ready to ask yourself some deep questions. The person who is most important to be honest with is yourself. You've opened the door and saw a side of yourself that, from what it sounds like, has caused you some amount of concern. It is not for me to say, nor anyone else, whether these are vices, it's if you think they are. I'm not for or against any type of substance; addiction is individual, needed to be answered by that individual themself alone.

Please let me state that this has been in no way an insult, or implication. Just my observation of what was posted; coming from a kind place. If you would like to PM me please feel free to do so.

    Be well,

Hmmm... did without pot for the past two nights... guess I'm ok without a vice... honestly girls, did you read my first post?

Going from alcohol to weed... exercising more, eating healthier.. not waking up feeling like shit... I'm doing OK! Except that the fact that I'm a dancer has made my 1st (and only) drunk driving offence more of a hastle than it ever should have been.

    Way to go MeganS!!
The problem with replacement vices is not making the next progression. The next progression is transferring the vice to an innocuous habit before it get firmly rooted. Say you transfer from alcohol to shopping and spend to much money. Then it is too easy to drink because you are up to your azz in debt.

Now if you could just transfer the habit to sex, your hubby would have a smile tattooed on his face (as would you). LOL
If you could transfer it to making money everyone wins.

Megan, do you notice any difference in the amount of money you make when you drink at work vs. when you don't drink at work at all? I'm trying to stop drinking at work too, but it's hard to quit completely. I've cut down quite a bit though. What's harder is that I make more money after I've had a couple drinks because I'm more relaxed and outgoing, so I flirt and chat better with the customers.

Good for you, Megan. I've only smoked pot a few times and it puts me to sleep. But I know I drink too much, at work and not, so I admire you for giving it up.

Smoking anything IS worse than smoking nothing..but for me, I choose the Pot over the Bottle anyday. A social user of both in moderation, I find myself more in control with weed...more able to carry on conversations, walk, etc...and NO HANGOVER.

So, I agree with earlier posts - if it's in modeation....go for it

and if your'e near pa...can you share w me? LOL
