    Default Tanning Beds!

    OMG!

I had the pleasure of signing up at a tanning salaon and the place that I go to is soo nice. They play music and have candy and bottle water for you no extra charge they even tell you to go ahead and light an aromatherpy candle if you like it was really nice and its only 60 bucks a month for unlimited tanning!

I just had to tell you guys now I know why you all love the tanning beds so much! They even give you samples of the new lotions that are out! I really liked this and its sooo relaxing I took a quick little cat nap for the 10 minutes I was in!

I love it sooo much! What types of lotions do you guys use for the tanning beds?

try reaching under your armpit around to the back....make sense?

Also, I like to buy my lotions on line. They're much cheaper. Just google "discount tanning lotion"....my lotion costs 60 in the salon, but like 20 online. I use Designer Skin brand.

Hmmm...$60/month seems a bit pricy to me. Where I go, I sign up for an unlimited year at a time and it is only $159 for the entire year.

I totally agree with Miss Taylor in that buying products on line is the way to go, since salons typically have like a 100% mark up on things. A good website to try is

    http://www.thesupplenet.com/tanninglotions.html

My favorites are Dark Ganja, C2FX Dark Bronzer and Spiked Butter by California Tan, or Chocolate Silk by Swedish Beauty.

That's nice and all but I go to Darque Tan and its like $18 a month. I'd rather do the aromatherapy and napping at home and save some $$$$....

Miss Taylor...any preferences for lotion? I've been using Matahari...the type that bronzes AND tingles...burns like crazy after but works well!

I personally can't handle using anything with tingle. My skin is way too sensitive. I used to use a chocolate tingle and it worked great but it was just too painful for wimpy ol' me!

Katrine, I prefer Designer Skin Believe. It's a dark cooling bronzer. It's great for the summer time because it helps to keep you cool. The website mentioned above sells it for under $30...half of what the salon I go to sells it for. Oh yeah, it's also got anti-aging and skin firming stuff in it.

Honeygymgirl, don't tan your face everyday. I almost always cover mine and then use a light self tanner. Remember to use lots of after sun lotion to help protect that beautiful skin.

Wow Honeygymgirl, that sounds like a nice treat for your self. The salon sounds lovely. I used to use Body Drench products before i stopped going to tanning beds. Th skin cancer thing started to scare me. Just out of curiosity why did you choose to go to a salon instead of a self tanner?

Enjoy it, it sounds sooo nice

I'll spare you my little rant about why tanning is so bad for you because I am sure you know that already. I get airbrushed tanned and I love it. I get so many compliments one girl at work said my tan was better than hers and she goes in the booth religously. The awsome thing is you can go as dark as you like on the first session and you do not have to build up color, also it is not harmful to your skin. Yeah it is a little bit more expensive 35 dollars a session and it lasts about a week if you are good about maintaining it but it is really awsome. Also I am not talking about mystic tan I am talking about airbrush tan. Where you go to a salon and an lady sprays on the solution on your body. Same stuff as the mystic tan but is customised to your body. Well good luck though and don't burn yourself!

I actually worked at an upscale tanning salon before I jumped into my career as a dancer so I know a thing or two about tanning. First off, it is very important to use a lotion every time you tan. With a lotion, you absorb 50% more of the beneficial rays and maintain your tan longer. The best products I can recommend to you are products that contain a bronzer and hemp. Hemp is a natural moisturizer and helps you to build a rich, healthy tan. My faves are by Austrailian Gold like Golden Glaze, Thrust, and Iced Creme. I also like Swedish Beauty's line of tingle products. However be careful before using a high tingle factor b/c some people do not like the tingle sensation of the products. My fave tingle is Safire by Swedish Beauty.

I used to tan in tanning salons, now I wont step foot into one. Skin cancer runs in my family, and a couple of years ago I swore off tanning. Im still young, yet I hate being in the sun.(I always wear spf 30) I just want to stay out of it altogether.
I attribute the compliments on how young I look to my staying out of the sun-tanning beds. Sat night these two guys both thought I was 19, 20. I said no try adding 5-7 years...
I always get shit from looking pale. I ignore the comments and consider myself extremely smart for avoiding tanning beds, and the whole mystic tan/self-tanner thing
is an added expense I dont really want right now.

I know many of you arent going to agree with me here but I dont even get my nails done like I used to. I used to have acrylilc nails, now I prefer the shorter, natural painted nail.
I know it goes against standard, but I dont care.
I get a pedicure now once every 2-3 months, and because I moisturize, I always get compliments on how cute my toes are. Sometimes guys think I just got a pedicure when all I did is slap some polish on them before I went to work that night.
Sometimes I just feel that less is more. Guys where I live(whether stripclub or not) prefer seeing a girl who doesnt go over the top with beauty maintenance. Although, a well groomed appearance is appreciated, nothing over the top.
In the meantime, I'll continue to save the money not spent on (what I find to be) excess beauty expenses.

One of the big factors in tanning beds being bad for your skin is that girls tend to try and do just one or two sessions per week at a salon, but then stay under the lights for 15 minutes plus. To avoid this, I bought my own tanning bed and thus can do frequent 5 minute sessions, which is a lot less taxing on my skin than when I used to fry myself in a salon bed.

By me, $60 a month for unlimited tanning is not bad at all. (Tans are between $8-20 bucks a pop)
Melonie makes a good point, too. I would love my own bed.

A few months ago I made a post on how FRIED I got in the tanning bed. I literally only stayed for the 12 minutes, but it c cooked me. I looked like a lobster.

To avoid that, go a few times with less time. Then when you have your base, you can stay for the normal amount.
Good luck! Btw, that sounds likea cool place.

is it $60 a month for basebeds? I spend about $80 a month unlimited for high pressure beds which go for about 15-25 bucks each session. Right now I use bonfire by Swedish Beauty it's an accelerator, tingle, and bronzer, but like most that have already posted I buy my lotions online since it ends up being cheaper than buying in salon. Other good lotions are Smoke by supre, Xspeed and Xpower by Cal tan, Soul by Designer Skin, brown envy by synergy.

I may have many faults, but being wrong ain't one of them.

I love tanning and I'm completely jealous of everything your salon offers... what's the name of it? I have used Drama Queen before, but I prefer really hot tingles, so I usually use Goddess and occasionally Rock Star. Glad you're enjoying yourself girl!

Yeah my salon is pretty awesome they have a basket of candy for us for when we are waitin or you can buy energy bars with the water they give you.

It was 60 for a month just starting and once I get my base it will be 30 a month so i thought not bad at all. Plus I get free tans when i refer people so i got 3 of my girlfriends to sign up so that is always cool!

My place is called Classy Tans! And I love this place!

    Now that summer is around.

Do you still go to the tanning salons or do you hit up the beach?

Im naturally a little dark(the one benefit of beign italian) so I try and stay out of the tanning salons, but as soon as the weather warms up I hit up the beach ASAP.

Do any of you go to nude beaches? There is a great one in Jersey I just went to recently. Its nice not to have tan lines anymore
