Default Question to ponder.. men please do not take offense...

It was a dead night last night, very slow and a few of us were killing some time and chatting about things.. when one of the new girls piped up and said, 'How on earth do you girls wear these damn shoes?"

So, thus began a question in my head....

Supposeably, men invented pantyhose and the bra.. which are known to be the two most uncomfortable things on the planet, unless of course, you shop at Victoria's Secret and someone there has to be a woman cause things are much more comfortable there than anywhere else...

so ladies.. do you suppose that it was a man's conception of 7-8' platform shoes too? I mean, we are doing things in these shoes that are like super heros- pole tricks, etc... who's idea was it anyways? You'd think the heels would be lower...

Got a good laugh and thought I'd throw the question out there...

I like girls in heels, but the extra high 6-8" is a bit much.
Oh, by the way I don't like it when women wear panty hose either.

I wear them because they make my legs look so much better!

I think 6 to 8" heels look ridiculous AND they are very
bad for ankles, knees, hips and lower back.
Pantyhose is also very unhealthy- generates & traps
excessive heat in the vagina promoting overgrowth
of all sorts of undesirable microbes.
I reccomend that neither be worn by ANYBODY!

I love heels but then again I've been standing on the balls of my feet ( and toes ) since I was a very small child because of ballet.

I was instantly at home in stripper heels from day one as an exotic dancer. The only shoes that bother me are the closed toe ones because I have very wide feet. The only time I remeber having sore feet from stripping was when I worked at Scores.

I actually have a difficult time with heels under 4 inches because that balance point just feels so off to me.

    Hi Gynger,
Interesting topic.I love High heels specialy stileto style.I don't know who discover them.I bet it was a men.

    Maybe?

I know that very high heels become popular in the 18. century.
Just the time when women didn't run too far..... too often...
I think high heels are symbol of "being sexy".
Also I think that in the history of heels and women HEELS were keeping women from not to do too much. And there for not to be in control...Wich we as stripers proof wrong ...WE are in cotrol! Utleast I feel like that when I put them on.

I think a nice set of normal heels can complement appearances nicely, but, in my opinion the seven to eight inch platform shoe serves no purpose, I personally find them cheesy. (no offense).

That is funny Gynger today I was thinking of going in with my 6 inch heels insted of my 8 inch ones. Latley I am hating looking super freaking tall and having guys ask me how tall I am. I mean I actually am only 5'6 and they act like I am a giant.

Even though I am already considered tall, I love my seven inch heels. IMO, my legs look stumpy with anything shorter.

Well the high heel was originally designed by men, for men (aristocratic Europeans), and over time women fell in love with the fashion and took it over. NOw it's mostly us girls and a lot of wanna-be girls that wear them. But I know quite a few straight men that wear them, who don't otherwise cross-dress in any way.

this sort of related- pointe shoes were also created by a man. The purpose was to make his favorite ballerina appear the way he saw her - floating on air, etheral, above the rest of humankind.

Pretty romantic if you ask me

i love heels, have been wearing em before stripping for a long time, although the highest heel I reached before now was only 4 inches, I now stick with 6 inchers at work cuz I don't wanna tower over guys, and I'm only 5'5".

    Fact found researching the net:

According to Harper's Index, the average increase in the protrusion of a woman's buttocks when she wears high heels is 25%

Yeah, looks like we're guilty. Then again, some gals would rather cheer us than jeer us for our efforts:

"I don't know who invented high heels, but all women owe him alot." - Marilyn Monroe

No seriously, I finally saw an actual dancer wearing 8" plats during my last strip club visit. She seemed to be obsessed with germs as she spent the entire first song of her stage set cleaning everything, the poles, the mirrors. I think she wore those shoes just to reach those overhead bars above the stage.

I thought the whole reason platforms became popular with dancers because they were more comfortable than the 5" stilettos that were the norm beforehand, and because short dancers could get more height out of them with less actual heel pitch.

As for what started the trend to dancers wearing the super high platforms, that is beyond me. Personally, I think the 6 inchers look ideal on most any gal, the 7's can look good on the right women (one of my favorite dancers here is really short and wears 7's), the 8's for the most part tend to look kind of silly.

BTW Gynger, I just had a talk with the trolls in research and development at the platform shoe labratory. They're rolling out the 9 and 10 inchers next week. Happy shopping!

I've always heard that the reason men like high heels is that they lengthen the leg and move the pubic area forward and draw attention to it. Don't remember where I heard that though.

I'm not offended. You ladies can kick those shoes off anytime you want and wear something that's good for your feet, or at least comfortable. The shoes do nothing for me.

    Well,

Responding Destinys to comment why men like high heels...

I have to say that as far as heels go, it is really a pain in the ass to find 6" heels in a size 11 men's. I mean come on. Now, THIS is discrimination.

I like the way they build my thigh and calf muscles and the way they make my hairy ass wiggle when I walk. I never cease to generate comments when I wear them to the mall. Although I have to admit I can't quite make out what they are saying....

Oh and as a man, my pubic area is moved way forward and my legs look really long... It looks like I am a walking bannana.

As I am just 5'11. The extra 6" heels put me at a manly 6'5".. Tall enough to be a basketball player or maybe a receiver ... if I could just do a 5.2 sec 50 yard dash in them.

hmmmmm ... As Carmen Diaz said in Something about Mary...

Hmm, well... the bra thing I understand, but as for the shoes...

For some strange reason I often notice women's shoes now. I didn't use to do so, I can't recall when I started doing so, and quite honestly my guess is that it is rare for men to do so. And even if I do notice, it is not a top priority and it is not the first thing I notice. I just see it is asanother small thing that can add to the whole sex appeal thing.

I don't want to speak for everyone else, but I personally think the dancer stilt shoes look kind of silly. They do accentuate a woman's calves and thighs and that's a turn on, but they tend to look cheap and ridiculously tall to me. I guess you really can't dance in a pair of sexy Italian leather high heal shoes (they would get all scuffed up and be destroyed), but that would turn me on a lot more than the 6-8" plastic stilts

Fashion is a stupid social convention. People do all kinds of stupid things for fashion over history. Try explaining the necktie to an alien form another planet. I never understood why women did that to themselves. And Gynger, I would not mind seeing you in flats, as long as they are shoes.

Hmm, how shall I explain my viewpoint I've had couple of drinks, so I am sure I this won't make any sense tomorrow, but screw it...

I see fashion in much the way I see music. I see "fashion" as a form of artistic expression with a very definite sexual-attraction orientation. Most people are just followers, and wear whatever is being sold in mainstream stores, and wear what ever is "in fashion", but they are just followers and are months behind. I very much see fashion creators as artists. The problem for most of us is we can't afford to keep up, but even if we could, very few of us are lucky enough to be born beautiful/handsome enough to really look good in the latest fashions. But successful fashion designers are expressing their insights into whatever it is that is sexual turn-on, and like everything in life, it is all about change. Sexual turn-ons change, and so must fashions. I think fashion designers see trends in sexual expression that most of us don't see. Animals do it out of instinct (no different then eating), but for people sex is more than just making babies. Life, and sex is made sweeter because of romaticism, love, fantasy, and yes, fashion...

If that made no sense, ... remind me tomorrow not to have a couple of drinks before posting - hehe

yup. heels cause the body to naturally fall into the position it would during sexual arousal, that is, the posture and stride a woman takes on when she finds herself in the company of a sexually attractive man. ever notice how hard it is to not swing your hips when you wear heels? or how awkward girls look if they walk stiffly in heels.

as for the platform, i think it really does have a lot to do with height. height makes people look more important and powerful. there are japanese women undergoing calf stretching in order to gain 2 inches so they can get jobs that they are more than qualified for but can't otherwise get simply because they are too short to be put into high-power positions. historically, heels were common among male aristocrats who wanted to tower over commoners. in america today, tall people make more money than equally qualified shorter people. tall women are also a status symbol...like thin, fit, tanned, well-groomed women with good educations. men like them because they make them look good/feel important.

Very good points made... we continued this conversation in the dressing room last night, one of the dancers said, "Oh yeah.. the bikini was invented by a man too!"

Personally, I love my shoes. I'm a shoe nut/freak/psycho whatever you want to call it.. I think we had a post a few months ago about how many pairs of shoes we all had and the results were staggering as we all admitted to having a thing for shoes.

Redlightgreenlight said it best: you can't help but sway your hips when you are wearing heels...

but, in terms of dancing, personally in a lap dance, I like to remove my shoes-but some guys have protested with my desire to remove my shoes...

So other than the pantyhose thing and the bra thing, kudos to men for the bikini and the high heels!

I find exactly 6 1/2 heels to fit me perfectly. If I could wear them with a nice pair of jeans out clubbing I would. Hmmm... I should try that.

Yup, I think redlightgreenlight's explination is right on, explaining why men like women in high heel shoes. I also agree about the height, though some men are intidimated by tall women.

I like em tall! I have a pair of thigh high boots with 8.5 or 9" heels, and because they are solid black, it looks like I just have very long legs and I'm really tall. Most of the guys LOVE them. They go on and on about how great the boots are, and how fabulous I am in them. Even alot of shorter guys like it. With those boots, DD boobs, nearly buttlength red hair and a shiny red and black corset, I think it gives me kind of an over the top amazon look that works damn well.

    All hail the high heels!
