    Default age vs. state

Ok, so, quick question, please respond!

What state do you live in, and what age do you have to be to work in it? 18, or 21?

Because I know that here in NY you have to be 21 to work in a club w/alcohol.. i think. lol
Do different states require you to be 21 to do nude but only 18 to be topless?
I'm really just curious, and I figured it would be helpful for me to know about the diff. states, since I won't be 21 for -- a while.. hehe

At all the clubs I've worked at or visited in Wisconsin, you only have to be 18 to work there, including the clubs that serve alcohol. At the clubs where alcohol is served, dancers who are between the ages of 18 and 20 may not drink. Well, they're not supposed to, anyways...it really depends on the bartender.

I'm in Florida, and depends what part of the state. 18 or 21, depending on the sale of alcohol. A few clubs guys have to be 21 to even get in, while a dancer can work and be 18.

actually, you only have to be 18 in all of florida to legally work as a dancer. alcohol or not.some clubs just choose to only allow 21 and up customers, they can let them in if they choose, statewide.

Thanks Velvet, i have hit many clubs that will only allow a customer to be 21, male, female 18 as a customer, and a few that wanted 21 for dancers too. Of course this is near me.

Since the US virtually has a nationwide drinking age of 21, customers in clubs that serve alcohol are supposed to be 21. The club of course has the legal option of allowing admission to 18,19 and 20 year olds, but must keep track of who they are and refuse to serve them alcohol. Same is true of dancers or other workers in clubs that serve alcohol (which are typically bikini or topless due to the same alcohol laws). Like underage customers, clubs have the legal option of allowing dancers who are 18,19 or 20 years old to work there, but have the legal responsibility to keep track of who they are and refuse to serve them alcohol. In the real world, because clubs run the risk of stiff fines and/or having their Liquor License suspended if caught with 18,19 or 20 year olds drinking on the premisis, they almost always play it safe by allowing 21 year old customers only. They also usually play it safe by allowing 21 year old dancers only.

18 years of age is the minimum legal working age in the USA without parental consent or emancipation, and is also the legal age for "adult entertainment". In past years I have seen girls who were 16 and 17 working in nude clubs - legally ! - because they were "emancipated minors". However, with the advent of the internet and kiddie porn laws, clubs will no longer hire girls who are under 18 under any circumstances because of the "adult entertainment" aspect.

in CT you must be 21 to work in a topless w/liquor club, or 18 if you have signed consent from a parent or legal guardian (still not allowed to drink, and most clubs monitor this). for nude/BYOB clubs 18+ is the general rule. good luck to you wherever you decide to work

Paige I would like to for-warn you as I'm certainly Melonie will to... she is complimented by your post however she is not an accountant just a very informed person. Just like I'm very informed about alot of things in re: finances too.... I always emphasis to the person that they should consult a qualified accountant.

It's great you are learning something however remember that whilst Melonie (and alot of us) have knowledge behind us about the laws, facts, stats, etc.... don't ever just "take our word for it".

Learn from Melonie however also investigate further. Don't just let it stop with what Melonie has to say. She's great but she doesn't "know all"... she's only human (like the rest of us).

Just making sure you aren't putting anyone on a pedastial.

No offense to Melonie as I too think highly of her.

Here in Arizona you have to be 18 in the no-alcohol clubs (nude) and 19 in the alcohol serving clubs (topless). Dancers here are not allowed to drink on the job anyway.

DC is 18 to work, and they all sell alcohol, meaning that they maintain a 21+ rule for customers accross the board. The funny thing is, there were years during which I could get naked in one club but wasn't allowed through the door in the other clubs. I just always thought there was a cute irony to that

I work at Broadway Showgirls in San Francisco, Cali. It is a gown club that is topless and serves booze. We have a few girls that are under 21 including me. HUSTLER girls are 18 and up too. The only club you really have to be 21 to work in is Hungry I on Broadway. They have a really nicely decorated cute little club. I'd try it out if I was of age. Sparkell, it's nice to see another girl on these boards from the city. Which club do you work at?

Yes, I'm complimented and thank you. But Goldy is exactly correct that I am just a dancer with blonde hair and big boobs, that my posts are only my own opinions or personal experiences, and that I'm definitely NOT a lawyer or accountant or otherwise authoritative source.

Yes, NY laws state you must be 18 to dance, and that you must be 21 to drink alcohol. Therefore virtually all nude clubs will hire girls who are 18. However, a handful of clubs (usually the upscale high earnings potential clubs) establish their own club rules about dancers having to be older than 18 to discourage young, broke customers from coming in to see very young dancers and in the process drive off big spending middle aged guys.

In NY topless clubs which serve alcohol, the vast majority of clubs set a club rule that they will not hire 18,19 or 20 year old dancers (even though they legally could) because they don't want to take the risk of being cited if a state alcohol inspector catches an underaged dancer drinking alcohol on the club premisis. A handful of topless clubs (usually the less popular ones) will hire very hot girls who are 18,19 and 20 to improve their eye candy factor and take the risk that these underage dancers won't drink.

I believe that you can work in any of the Tx clubs at 18...which i don't think is a really good idea because its the underage girls who are always getting wasted and taken advantage of...not exclusively though.....

New Jersey (Joisey) - 18 for dancers regardless what type of bar it is. 21 for all customers including females. Whether a club hires you is totally up to them. I started dancing in NJ at 18 and have never had a problem... but if you drink you are outta there.

For Ohio 18 is the minimum age for all dancers at every club I've been to whether there is alcohol or not. Just don't drink at work if you are 18-20 and you like your job.

Customers in any SC with alcohol (Bikini & Topless) have to be over 21. NA clubs (nude) allow 18 year olds in.
