    Default Animals on stage

Anyone ever brought an animal on stage? i.e. a snake, a dog, a kitten, whatever? I've seen it on TV, but never at a real club. I was wondering it girls actually did this, or it was a "blockbuster myth."
I think bringing a snake on stage would be incredible, but I'm not sure how practical, or even legal it would be.
Anyone have any experience with this subject?

I know Pamela once commented that she had used a snake before. I think she said the other dancers complained and that was the end of that. I'm sure she may respond to this topic at some point and fill you in.

I've seen feature entertainers bring snakes.

It would only work if you were a feature entertainer in my opinion and the animal was/is used to large noisy crowds and situations.

I personally love the use of a snake in a feature show... esp. on a naked female body... so "Adam and Eve" I love it!

But I wouldn't use an animal in a normal dance (house dancer).

    Hi Paige,
I use to dance with a snake and lot of people loved it . I have got hired to do many shows, also in another clubs beside strip clubs. But it was in Spain. :'( Unfortunately, I did not bring the snake to America, as it is long travel and the snake could get irritated and never be the same again. I have had the snake since a little baby and my first show with her; I started when she was 4 feet long. In Spain you should have a permit to own a snake; I’m not sure about here. Anyway If you thought about to do anything like that, I would recommended that you have the snake since she is still little (she will grow up fast), this way you get use to each other and as long the snake is very good treated, there is not any danger. It would be good idea to get the snake use to the music, (even the snake does not hear the music the same way we do, they do hear the strongest beat and that could scare them - would be not good).
Also is necessary to make lot of research (from books or shop where the snake is bought), because example of the skin change etc. (that is time, when nobody should bother the snake- mean no dancing at this time.) but there is lot of another info, that is necessary to know it exam.: about your perfume, travel with the snake, ….etc.

I always bring my snake to the clubs. It sits between my legs and perks up when an interesting dancer comes around.

    Seriously though,

Everytime I think of a snake on a stage, I think of that horrible scene in Striptease where they get a new snake and he constricts around the blonde girl that's a feature that night and she squeals like crazy...

but, I think it would be cool, but not for me. I would have to be a bystander and watch. Snakes creep me out.

Try a stage entrance riding on a lion! Or on a bear! Maybe a wolf?

    Suggestion of thrill or danger??

Few people understand the psychology of dealing with a highway traffic cop. Your normal speeder will panic and immediately pull over to the side. This is wrong. It arouses contempt in the cop-heart. Make the bastard chase you. He will follow. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

I have danced with a Burmese Python on and off for years. I had many problems with other dancers. But made for a good show. He is very large now, so not good for one person to handle at this point.

Snakes are good, because they can't hear, tolerate smoke well, and the lights will not bother them either. They like our body heat and will want to stay on us.

Indigo's used to be the snake of choice for many dancers, but now they are illegal to own. So the secong choice became a Burmese Python. A Boa is fine, but they tend to not hang as lose as a Burmese. Burmese Pythons are lazy! Lol. Mine always were. A good feeding 2 days before a show slows the snake down and cuts the risk of a "hunger strike" way down.

My problem...I fed him alot, and of course a Python never stops growing until it dies, unlike a Boa, or Indigo.

They are very great stage animals as long as you keep them on you. Once you lay the snake on the stage, it will feel threatened. Even the tamest of snakes can be hard to get off the ground. They like being ubove or even with our height, not below us so much.

Pamela, who owned a Burmese for 11 years!!! Amoung other constrictors. And some non constrictors.

I have a python...I have thought about dancing with her one day. She is still just a baby...only a little over 2 feet. I am thinking I would rather just have sexy photos taken with her rather than dance with her.
But...anyhow..I personally think its really sexy for women to perform with animals...well depending on the animal of course..

Okay, I know I will get flamed due to this, but I think bringing ANY animal onstage is revolting! Especially a kitten!!! Are you CRAZY?! Can you imagine the fear in that poor animal's eyes in a dark, loud, smoky rowdy environment???! GAWD! it's disgusting! DO you have any pets? If so, do you give a shit about them? I know alot of us on this board love our animals, and i can't imagine anyone who truly cares about their animals putting them through that for their own (potential) financial gain or praise!
I work with animal cruelty organizations, AND am a dancer, and if I ever saw someone bring a domestic (especially a young) animal onstage I would not hesitate to call the proper authorities.
I realize I am on the extreme end of this, but I am also a person who thinks circus animals are a shame as well. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't do this. I don't know much about snakes, but it's just the principle of exploiting something that has no choice in the matter for your own selfish gain. Think: would the animal choose to be there?
    Of Course Not.

I thought about bringing my pomeranian onstage for a wizard of oz theme. I don't see how that would be harmful to her at all. Especially if she's in mama's arms, her favorite place to be.

Mama's arms at home...not in front of a bunch of drooling idiots!
think of it this way...would you bring a baby onstage if it were legal? Hey, you could do a babysitter show,,,,aw,,,wouldn't that be cute!
You have to see animals as little furry children, they are. If you wouldn't do it to your child you shouldn't do it to you pets. It's just unfortunate the laws are still in the dark age about this.

I'm sorry, I love my pets too, but they are not "furry little children". They are pets. I don't really see how bringing a trained animal onto a stage set for oh, all of 10 minutes would harm them? maybe less time than that? Have you ever taken your pet for a walk on a busy city street? What will they see, lots of people, loud noises and lights...possibly some smoke, am I right? Hmm sounds suspiciously similiar to a strip club to me. The customers are there for a show, and to be entertained, they aren't crazy pet killers who are going to run up onstage and stab at your animal with a knife or something. Ok, I agree, a young kitten maybe would be not a greeeat idea since it could get scared (Kittens get scared everywhere!!!) and claw you onstage...not so glam... But, a furry little child? ???
Just my two cents on the subject.
