Whilst I'm not a Houston dancer and won't be able to work in Houston. I thought it was interesting...

We've been required to have our licenses visibly showing since they made us get them in the first place back in 98. Your real name is not on the license, just a stage name and a DMV type photo...its no big deal.

    Why is this news?

It's the first time I've heard of such a thing... so it's news to me. So.. I'm guessing that you do have the option to carry it around in a purse not just in a garter ???

    NO....

You have to have it visible in all times while you are dancing on the floor. But it's really no big deal. If you want to dance in Houston without a license you can, but you have to wear a brazilian-back bikini bottom instead of a g-string, and you have to cover your nipples with latex.

I just wrap a rubber hair band around the hole in the license and attach it to my shoe, its easy. Since I expired I've been dancing north of the city center where licensing isn't required....

The guys just try to pressure the latex girls to rub it off in VIP anyway, what a pain!

A long time ago, the city relented on having to include real names and other personal info on the "toe tag" dancers are required to wear while performing. The local courts ruled that this would have represented a safety risk to dancers, and would have been grounds to appeal the entire Houston ordinance. To avoid having to fend off appeals, the original ordinance was modified almost immediately.

That stupid 3ft rule, and the subsequent licensing requirements just made Houston dancing even dirtier, and prostitution more relevant. Because of the small risk of customer, dancer, and club being busted for being closer than 3ft, all the clubs installed very private VIP rooms, or made their current ones even more "private."

Creating a dark, closed layout room for dances makes it very easy for prostitution to occur. The morons who created the ordinance only served to make Houston even worse regarding dirty dances.

Now its gotten EVEN worse, A few weeks ago, I went into a brothel (they call them Executive Retreats), next door to the most popular club in town, Treasures. Well, the place looks just like a strip club, including a stage and pole. I don't know where the "acts" take place because we were meeting someone and didn't take the grand tour or anything. But someone coming in could totally mistake it for a stripclub......

    The lines gets blurred further.......

    Sorry for hijacking the post....
