When you go to look something up on the net, what search engines do you use?
Metacrawler, Google, Alta Vista, etc....
I need to submit some stuff to search engines and I am wondering what some of the most popular ones are.
THANKS!!

From my Web Development experience and stats analysis - Google and Yahoo are two of the most popular that will provide very different results. Reg, if you are submitting URL's rather than searching for them, you also need to consider that various search engines have 'preferred placement' programs i.e. if you want any chance that your submitted URL's will appear within the first 10 pages in a search result, it's going to cost you!

DejaNews actually is not so mucha search engine. It's a way of searching through Usenet feeds. Usenet is actually the original core of the Internet that existed for many many years before the World Wide Web was even a concept. Essentially, it is a composition of thousands of open forums discussing anything from computers, television shows, cooking to adult related topics...you name it.Originally Posted by python fan link=board=1;threadid=9968;start=msg120116#msg1201 16 date=1086791212
Personally, my search engine of choice is more of a portal that hits all of them. www.dogpile.com. It submits your request to all of the top search engines at once and can either give you results based on the average responses of all of them, or give you the top ten responses from each search engine individually.
