    Default Getting Professional Photographs

I've been considering getting professional photographs done that I could put up on my club's website and just have on hand in case. Unfortuneately I don't have any idea what kind of agency I could go to. I might want some of them in an outfit I strip in (NOT NAKED, NOT TOPLESS, just provacative/sexy). I've considered going to Glamour Shots but from what I've seen they tend to make everything look like it's from the eighties. I was just wondering where you girls got yours done. I'm kind of worried about the photographer getting the wrong idea and trying to take nude pictures of me.

    any imput would be appricitated!

Where are you located? I think having professional photos done is totally worth it- you can make up promo items to sell/give away such as posters/keychains/magnets, and it boosts your appeal to the club.

There are a lot of BAD photographers out there- look around before you choose one. The best indicator is how elaborate their studio is (lots of background choices), and how good their lighting is (lighting makes ALL the difference). Maybe check out one model place for photographers in your area, or ask feature dancers where they got theirs done.

    good luck!

I would love to do the same. A photo shoot with lots of outfits would be great. Anyone know any good photographers in the Toronto area? I would also love to get a nude portait painted.

Thanks for the advice! I'm just kind of worried about getting ripped off, so I'll start my list of what to look for.

I'm located in Northeast Ohio, by the way.

Leigh_Landon would probably know of a good photographer in the TO area.
As for feeling ripped off...well, a good photographer will likely charge a lot (because he/she'll have a lot of equipment, and will have the reputation to support a higher price).

I felt somewhat ripped off after my photo shoot (with a guy who's considered 'the best' out here and has done lots and lots of dancer promo)- I paid $600 (CAD)when tax and paying the hair & makeup lady was calculated in. BUT- it's tax deductible, and I think I've already come close to making it up in extra $$ from things like selling 8x10s, throwing them out during my show and then asking the guys who caught them if they want a dance (works- creates a sense of obligation } ), and getting bookings I wouldn't have been able to without promo. Plus, if you want to travel, good promo helps a lot in booking.

Anyways, I was hesitant about the whole thing, but am now gladI did, and plan on getting new pics every year that I dance. Don't forget you'll also have sexy pics to show around when you're an old lady- "look, nana was hot once!", lol

As for finding a photographer in Ohio, I'd suggest checking onemodelplace.com for a photgrapher who's work you like- the best ones are generally the ones who specialize in or are used to dancers, or who say they do 'maxim-style' photos. Try to get a tfp shoot, and if you get someone to do a tfp shoot with you, make sure that you have partial rights to the photos so that he/she can't sell them back to you.

I second that. OMP can be a great place to hook up with photographers. Just be careful, always ask for and check references, etc. Bring a chaperone of sorts too.

It says on your site you travel to US also. Have I misread this. Your photographs are very very good........and the ones Ive seen from the cllubs from some girls, are even better than in your archives, IMHO.
    They love you.

Not to be rude or anything, but how in the hell do you transform some of us girls that are of average looks, into super model looks.......I know this, because Ive met them firsthand.
Im definately cantacting you! And Raven is coming too !

    Tiffany, thanks for the compliments!

I am a US and Canadian citizen - so our them does a lot of 'touring' to cities both in the US and Canada. We often travel to Montreal, New York and are currently scheduled to tour into Chicago (our first tour) from June 23rd to 29th!! There are still a few openings for photo sessions in the Chicago.

As for 'the magic' secrets! Well I can't give away all my secrets, but I can tell you lighting is key! Think about the lighting on stage at clubs - it is that way to make you look as good as possible. Well we treat you the same way ....

Experienced photographers aren't hard to find, but finding one you're comfortable with takes some research.

With about 15 years experience in adult and traditional fashion/glamour photography, I'd be happy to work with you. I run a photo studio in Northeastern PA - and also have a portable system. Working on my online portfolio, you can see some of my stuff at

I've worked with a few pro photographers over the years and learnt a bit as a result.

Experience and expertise level do count for a lot, and can be gauged by the quality of the portfolio. If they do not have a portfolio for you to view - FORGET IT.

Because the good photographers are good, be prepared to pay professional rates for their service. A good photo or set of pix can make you a shitload of $, so consider it a worthy investment.

Other things to check include copyright and other agreements (some photographers actually believe that they own your photos even though you paid). If there is a clause in your agreement about how and where your photos are to be used, don't be afraid to question or clarify this. This is a way for some photographers to charge extra if a commercial publication / enterprise uses the photo.

Also, check who gets to keep negatives, and if not, if you have to pay for any shots you may like outside of the agreed two or three you may have initially agreed to receiving. Especially for the girls, check if anyone else will be present at the shoot, such as "assistants" or "helpers", and don't be scared to ask for a "closed set" if you want to.

    Good points Chad...just one tweak:

If you want free/cheap photos...amateurs (if they are legit and you have security) or school students (ditto on legit and security) aren't bad options. Remember, everyone has to start somewhere!

If finances are tight, you might try a photography school or art college. Students building their portfolios will often do the service for the cost of their expenses, and they may have access to a lot of high-end equipment through their school. At least, I did, when I was a photography student, in Boston.

At the time, I did a number of shoots for people's portfolios, including a minister, a dominatrix, a dancer, someone applying for a job as a newscaster, and various fetish enthusiasts. I tended to charge about $50 for a shoot, to cover film and processing (which I did myself). That was for three or four rolls of 35 mm b&w. Photographers today may be leaning more towards digital, in which case the cost of expenses may be nothing.

Students are likely to not be shooting at the quality level as some of the pros who posted here, who are really doing excellent work. They'll be less efficient with your time, give you more bad photos, and occasionally really screw up. But if you're patient, you might get some good work out of them, for relatively little money, and also help someone at the beginning of their career.
