Default Restaurant Review at the PEC New York

As if the new "Stripper District" hasn't gotten enough publicity already, today's New York Daily News includes two somewhat satirical restaurant reviews of the steak house at the Penthouse Executive Club.

Now that city council woman will really be mad. Uh-oh....I sense a new crackdown coming....

What a little bitch. This is the same kind of woman who goes to a stripclub and is nasty to the dancers, is insecure when her bf looks or tips, and talks shit when one passes by.

They should have just met at mcdonalds.

Unreal...this sort of thing just pisses me off to no end. Besides, they don't even do lap dances at Penthouse and dancers are pretty covered up there.

Too bad this bitch has to resort to catty falsehoods and bad puns to sell papers; I would too if I had ZERO writing ability like her.

By the way, from those of you who don't live in the New York area, the Daily News is a tabloid that I wouldn't even line my catbox with. The New York Times wrote an article that was much more respectful and well-balanced than this hunk of crap. I'll try to find it over the next few days and post the link, or if someone beats me to it, please go right on ahead.

I agree that there was probably some element of NY Post "editorial policy" embedded in this story. A few carefully chosen but totally incorrect adjectives manage to convey the intended message - "sleazy" - "quadruple D implants"- dancers "gyrating on the laps of salivating businessmen".

I also agree that NYC politics, i.e. the new city councilwoman and her would-be neo-anti-dance club crusade, is something that West Side strip clubs are going to be forced to deal with sooner or later.

Ladies- I read the same 2 reviews and I got what I
think was the main point of both pieces- the relative
absurdity of going on a "date" to Robert's. It's NOT a
"date" place - wasn't meant to be.
However both writers really reached for sexual
connotations that simply were never there e.g. "New
York Strip" and "bone in Kobe Beef". Well, duh N.Y.
Strip is a well known cut of sirloin and beef cooked
with the bone in ( as with other meats ) gives it more flavor.
What some of you gals took for "cattiness" from the female reviewer I read as her own discomfort with the
whole scene despite her insincere disclaimer that
she was " NOT uncomfortable" going to strip when clearly they are just not her kind of place.
Both gave the food a fairly good review ( as do I, btw)
and noted that it is overpriced. Well, duh EVERYTHING
in an upscale strip club is overpriced. You're paying for
    the atmosphere and the scenery.
Lastly, I do agree that the recent N.Y. Times piece was
much fairer and better balanced BUT, it was supposed
to be. It was a "news" article, not a giggly restaurant
    "review". (snicker,snicker).

Ninadaisy, let us not be so critical of the Daily News!! It has the BEST sports section of any paper in this area! I just wanted to clear that up!

The Daily News is usually loyal to Scores and writes only good stuff abou tthem. PEC's newspaper is The Post while they usually usually dumps on Scores.

Chrissy- In N.Y. objective journalism re: strip clubs in general and Scores & PEC in particular is rare indeed.
Lonnie of Scores has his connections with the press
esspecially at the Daily News. It wouldn't surprise me
if PEC has tried to do similar "cultivation" with The Post.
BTW- whatever relationship may exist has not stopped the Daily News from giving prominent play to the recent
suits brought vs. Scores. it's interesting to note that
there have been no such horror stories re: PEC which
reinforces what I've been saying for over a year- that
PEC is the pick of a bad lot for upscale Man. strip clubs
and that Scores gets more desperate every day.

Ok, this woman just straight gets on my nerves. Is she jealous of dancers or what? And how in the hell does she get off on calling dancers "working girls"? We are not hookers. We give you the live version of what your "man" sees in a Penthouse, Playboy, or Hustler, and in this case you get a great meal. She needs to move into the Health and Beauty section of her paper so that she can teach the "classless few" of us who dance for a living how to be respectable. Or she can dance a mile in my 4" platforms.

Darlinpandora- Mostly she's ignorant and immature.
There's no reason for you to let what she wrote bother you.BTW using the term "working girls" to refer to dancers WAS a cheap shot.

I think these writers were just writing another article to help their careers. Amy's article seemed to be from a more personal side and is probably very ignorant towards the business. Oh well. I have to say that I used to be jealous and think the same way to about dancers - but thats when I was 14!!!! People need to grow up and be more mature. Everyone (dancers included) are human beings!
You think you know... but you have no idea!
