To me she sounds like a villian Flash Gordon or Buck Rodgers would have to do battle with.

Although Stan Lee used it as the stage name for the alter ego of his Stripperella character. Nope, still bad.

i'd have to say any name that reminds you of a disease or some type of medical condition (or is a disease).. we all know some stupid girl out there is going to call herself angina (which is a heart condition) or clymedia (an sti)! lol

I was righteously pissed off at a dancer called "Isis", who changed her name to Chocolate. Since she was my friend, and she tipped me well (after I learned to stop being the naive new DJ), I didn't argue too much.

But Isis is an infinitely superior name, and not just because I am an Egyptophile.

I hate the Mochas and Chocolates too. I once knew a dancer that called herself "white chocolate"...wtf is that? There is a girl calling herself "Piracy" which I think is absurd. Not too fond of the names Secret, or Memory, both girls that I work with.

Personally, I would like to hear some good old fashioned names coming out on the stage...

Be aware of words that rhyme with the name chosen.
There is a dancer at the SC where I go named "Starling" (Silence of the Lambs reference). On a PA system with a accented DJ it sounds like Stalin.

I have many. The one that really bothers me the most is Bambi. I think just about every state has a Bambi. Worse yet....i danced with a Bambi in the same club, she got pregnant and named the child Fawn....YUK.

Anything that sounds porno, belongs in porno i think. But again Pamela, or Pamela Pauline is boring!

I agree with the liquid name statements- yuck.. not sure what people are thinking.

Personally names like Desire, Fantasy,Secret, Delight, Memory,Illusion,Firestorm, and others like the such always make me wonder why they were chosen. I have no issues with the girls who have chosen these names in the past, but after awhile it tends to be a bit cheesey, I think. Those names with color as well, Blue, Amber, Pink, Violet, etc... never been fond of those either..

Then there's the girl I worked with in California, whom I will never forget, as her name was (and yes.. drum roll please)...

Romance.... WTF??? A couple more, Afterglow, redlight, and Dynamite.

Other names I have problems with are the names of cars: Porshe, Lexus, Mercedes. We even had a girl named Harley. *Sheesh*

and a Eugina - those 2 were the worst I heard.
Bambi, Barbie, Miracle, Dream - those pretty much do it for me.
Oh, and the car names too...never been into those all that much either.

Came across a dancer in Illinois named Pop Tart, thought that was odd. Also worked with a Klymax and Suga. To me alot of typical stripper names are so over done, I do like the creative ones. I never came up with a good stage name and have always danced under my real name, Susan. I had to come up with a name for my character in the burlesque company I'm in and I went straight to drag names! I am Ginger Lee-Pokem!

Ok...semi off topic but maybe some of you dancers can tell me why you get hostile at us dj's for spelling your name diffrently than you invision on our rotation sheets. Its not like were handing out programs for the nights performance, as long as we say it right, WTF does it matter if we spell it with an I or a Y...never understood that.

LOL I so agree. I hear dancers complain about that a lot. When someone asks me how my stage name is spelled, I tell them "however you want to spell it is fine with me".
I personally could care less.

Allegra is actually a name derived from musical terminology, meaning 'fast'--as opposed to slow. But the commercial application spoils it as a name, yes.

That is funny about the DJ spelling, and no, it doesn't matter in the least, as long as it is pronounced correctly. I have worked with some total morons, in a field not renowned for literary acumen, and seen some incredibly funny attempts to write names from other DJs when I took over.

What I also find amusing is women of questionable appearance who take on names evocative of excitement and passion.

One of my least favorite dancers of all time insisted on calling herself "Tigress", not really all that bad a name--but she was ugly, overweight, couldn't dance for shit, and worst of all, she STANK. I would put on her song, announce her as briefly as possible, and leap through the adjacent door into the dressing room so I didn't have to see her onstage. This was in a club that hired literally any woman that walked in the door.

now I'm sure Natsu means something lovely in Japanese but on the microphone it sounded like Natzi. Plus I couldn't stand the ugly nasty skank. I never understood why she chose a Japanese name when she wasn't even Japanese nor did she look Japanese. She was straight up white.
