Well, I'm back. The restrictions on no reading or internet have been lifted- good thing, because I've been climbing the walls. The retina is fully reattached and the grey fog is entirely gone from my field of vision. My sight would likely be normal right now but for the fact that I won't be able to wear contacts in the left eye for another six weeks at least. I'm as nearsighted as a bat. I haven't worn glasses in forever, so I'll be picking up a pair soon and then I'll finally be able to leave the house and drive again. Woohoo! Cabin fever is almost as bad as being restricted to nothing but TV watching when I haven't paid any attention to the TV since the days when Smurfs ruled Saturday mornings.
The eyelid still droops a bit; it was stretched quite severely during surgery and the doctor said it could be another six weeks before the skin resumes its normal position. But at least I don't look like Quasimodo any more. Against my better judgement, I simply had to have a military ID, and the picture will commemorate my sagging eye Quasimodo look until I get the ID replaced this winter. Blech. The eye is still red and a bit icky looking but not nearly as freakish as it was a week ago. All in all, I'm quite pleased. Now if I can just get back to having a life outside of the confines of my house.
