MONEY WELL SPENT ON A STRIPPER

I had my eye on her throughout the night. The way she danced convinced me to get a couch dance. Time passed by and she walked up to the bar. I got up from my chair, walked over to her, tapped her lightly on the back of her shoulder and said, “I’ll take a couch dance”, as she turned around.

Not only did I pay for one, I paid for two. We connected mutually with one another in regards to poetry, of which surrounded other topics of conversation. After the dances, she told me she’d be out in a bit to talk some more.

That moment came, and I shared an assortment of poems that I brought with me. After that, we engaged in conversation involving our personal lives and how the cards had been dealt to the both of us. She understood why writing was so important to me, and I felt the same way towards her need to dance. She told me about her poetry, and I told her I’d love to read it. She asked me if I had ever seen the movie Poetic Justice, and I wasn’t sure if I did or not. But she told about a poem that she memorized from the movie and recited it to me. Her voice felt as if it left a magnetic field within me.
In a short while it was time to select music to dance to. As she left, I knew I’d be up at the stage to tip her. Then the DJ announced her and I headed up and picked a seat and sat down in front of the curved stage. I watched her work through her first two songs, and it wasn’t until near the end of the third song that she came over to me and performed a segment of her routine in front of me. I smiled at her and slipped a dollar in her garter. After she was done, I left the stage and went back to my seat.

As the night wore on, the club was about to close. I wanted to get with her before I left, so, I paid for another dance. We picked up where we left off in conversation and eventually told her what day and time I’d be back to see her. We hugged each other and exchanged good-byes and then I left for the night. She’s more than a stripper- she’s a performer that brings our individual arts into one and makes the connection one to build on.

But in conclusion, I want you to remember this: The shirt I’ll have on the next time I see her has a picture of a lady on the dance pole with the phrase beneath it- STRIPPERS are people too.
