You have to go downtown to the federal building office that handles passport processing. They will tell you where to go at the post office.
Get there at least 30 minutes before it opens, there is often a line.
You will pay at least double for an expedited passport. Have your travel tickets with you, I don't know if you have to have this but it might help.
Bring all the appropriate ID's and lots of money!!
Do you need a passport for PR for sure?

Also, you'll need to have a passport photo taken and processed quickly. I believe Kinkos does it but you might have to call around. You have to have one done by a place certified in taking them as just a home photo won't do. Bring the photo with you to the passport office along with all your other paperwork.

dancerwealth, do you know if i NEED a passport for costa rica? Most people i have asked, dont know!
thanks!
When I went to Australia a few months ago, the fastest I could get my passport was in two weeks. It took just under that but I believe that was my only option.
Have you tried searching online to see if you need a passport?

I've traveled all over the world but not to Costa Rica, so I'm just not knowledgable about that. You might want to do some research on the net like MissTaylor said or call the local passport office first thing Monday morning.

as far as I know, Costa Rica is not a visa treaty country. Therefore you will need a passport and a visitor's visa.
If this is some sort of family emergency (like a relative died in Costa Rica) then the US State Dep't will push your passport right through. However, if there isn't a compelling reason for your trip, with the new investigative requirements which are now in place thanks to the Patriot Act, Miss Taylor is probably right that it will take two weeks at least for the investigations to be completed.

yes you need a passport and visa for costa rica. I don't know how long you're going for but if you need to renew your visa while you're there you have to go to another country to do it.
Are you in or near LA? You can get a super quick passport if you can apply in LA.
oops you're in Tampa, DOH!
Oh duh! I thought I read Puerto Rico...need to pay more attention...yes, definately you will need one for CR....are you sure you need a visa though? I almost went to CR and did not hear anything about visa requirement!
You can get proper passport photos done at Eckerd or Walgreens, or any drugstore/grocery store that has photo processing center.
I bet that if you go to Miami...you can get it done very quickly since its a major international travel city....is that very far from Tampa?

If bad comes to worse, call you Congressman or Senator. I hate to say it, but they can get a passport issued ASAP.

You should be able to get expediated passport in any state if you have a compelling reason (e.g., a family emergency, or a business trip). Afterall, needing an expediated passport is hardly unusual. In order to expediate You will need some kind of documentation, such as a note from your employeer or contractor explaining when/why you need to travel, and there will be an expediation fee (I am guessing it will be around $60 plus more if you pay for overnight delivery).
