    Default finally a smooth shave

so for quite awhile my puddy and i have been at each others neck
    "shaving down there"
nothing would get it smooth more than a day
i was stuck using makeup to coverup the red irritations

its frustrating because theres so many postings on how to do it and yet it didnt work for me
i felt like i had alien skin

well.. completly fed up i gave it one last true shot.. took all the advice i read on these boards and on the web and sat down and got serious

and im 3 days later .. smooth as a babies butt (well its growing back ..but NO irritation.. smooth smooth smooth)

in case others have this struggle this is what it did

    1. got the notion out of my head that shaving there is the same as doing my pits and legs
it can all be done at the same time
nope... that area takes special attention

    2. i soaked in the tub about 10 min
..shaved my legs.. scrubbed my feet.. took my bath

    3. got out dried off and put rubbing alchohol over the area (alot i had read mentioned much irritation comes from bacteria blah... like dirty bath water ..ect)

    4. got a cup of water and added a bit of rubbing alchohol to it (this is my rinse water)

    5. slathered on the shaving gel
let it sit for 5 min (brushed my teeth.. plucked the eyebrows....)

    6. sat down ..got out my new sharp mach 3 razor.. first dabbed it with rubbing alchohol
then shaved in the direction of the hair growth
short, light strokes.. rinsing in that rinse water quite often

    7. when done.. and still looking stubbly
piled on more shave gel... waited another 5 min
    to let it sink in

    8. new rinse water.. sat down.. and shaved against hair growth and however else to get rid of the remaining hair.. again short patient light strokes rinsing often

    9. washed off
Put a GLOB of bikini zone on (big time STING!)

    10. then the kicker....
after bikini zone dried i piled on the baby powder
rubbing it in until i couldnt see it anymore
(i think talc is dangerous for women to use down there if it can get in your vagina.. not good .. but this is just on my front where i shaved.. not between my legs.. fortunatly i have hardly any hair actually between my legs)

Then .. everytime i peed... id take a glob of moisterizer (used my face one) and then globs more of babypowder

the whole thing took about 1/2 hour.. im sure if i keep doing it .. it will move along faster

    but anyways it worked

lol Pariah, I hear you! I'm the queen of bad bikini shaves.
I'm gonna take all of your advice, and get a new razor etc. Lately what helps me is i've been letting my skin "get used to " not having hair there and getting it used to shaving. So for this month i've just shaved in the direction of the hair growth and let the hair be really short. Eventually, when I figure it's "used" to it, i'll shave the other way. lol
    Thanks for posting the tips!

Wow!! You really did go through quite a process to get that smooth shave. It sounds so tedious...but I'm glad to hear that it worked for you. I'm just glad that my skin isnt as sensitive as yours, cause I just would not have the patience.

i did the deodorant thing for a bit and it did work.. i used secret skin renewl not the block but the kind that pushes up through the little holes
i think since the weather is warmer i just stayed moist down there and the D.O. didnt stop that
i think the moisture is what aided irritation
the babypowder keeps me dry yet doesnt dry out the skin

Goodness! How long did that take?

I find that though I always get some minor irritation, the key for me is to shave at night and moisturize when I get out of the shower, then sleep in the nude. Nothing to chafe or irritate that way.

I had the same problem until a friend of mine told me about this stuff called magic powder. you can get it at wal-mart and it is really cheap and works great! it is a depilatory powder you mix that was formulated specifically for black men to use on their face instead of shaving! Try it sometime...

Great technique! I used to get the worst razor burn too and I don't know if I'd have the patience or time for all of that, but with all the soaking and leaving on the shaving cream, I could see how that would really soften the hair.

I've always been a little envious of girls that could shave with no razor burn at all, but I'm dark and furry so it's my cross to bear.

I'm pretty happy lasering the nether regions at this point. Expensive, but it lasts and no ingrowns or razor burn. I do love the Mach 3 on my legs though! Especially with Aveeno shaving cream. Leaves my legs sooooo soft!

Sounds like it worked... But I'm more of a wax it and be done with it kinda gal. I have an AMAZING women lol at my nail salon who does my wax. I mean, she's more familar with my vagina that my obgyn! lol. But she does a great job, the hair doesn't even start to grow back for like almost two weeks, and when it does it gets finer and finer each time I wax. Plus, after like, the 3rd time of consistenly waxing it basically stopped hurting. That's just MO though. My best friend can't even stand the IDEA of waxing. I deal with it though. The results are worth it. Once you start waxing, you will never go back. (if you can handle the pain of the first time of course!)

Damn girl. That is one serious process. I finally gave up and got waxed. Didn't hurt!! My waxer uses a different kind of wax that is less painful than regular muslin strip waxes. I only did bikini, but made my appointment for a Brazilian next time!

i know this is off topic but anyone know of a salon or spa in the poconos or srrounding area (either nj or farther in pa) that does braillian waxes. i've called so many salons and when i ask they act so nasty like "no!, we don't do that here." but i really want to try it without having to go all the way to ny just for a wax. Anyone? thanx
