Default False accusations from Management!

So how many of us deal with this kind of thing and how often?

I was at work tonight when a manager pulled me aside (I was barely 10 minutes into my shift) and said he got a complaint from a customer that I said something like "Spend money or get out" after he turned me down for a dance. Then he said how if it happens again in the evening, he'd know it wasn't a coincidence. Was that a thinly veiled threat alluding to me being fired?!?!

I responded by saying that I would never say anything that crude just because a guy didn't want a dance from me, that I've been dancing for 5 years now and know better.

It really aggravates me when this kind of thing happens. Of course, they'll never point the people out, so for all I know it was a guy trying to get my attention that I didn't see or someone that I didn't let paw me for free on his lap before - maybe - he got a dance.

How do you deal with this kind of bullshit?

Yech.. Yep.. Definitely sounds like a jaded customer. But just to be safe, I'd be careful around the manager. Something made me think that he could be looking for a reason to follow through with his threat.

I've never encountered that type of problem, just about every other one.. lol

    Good luck to you hon

Occasionally customers get your name confused, I had that happen the other night where a customer, who'd been talking to a girl for 45 minutes, said "Lily has been saying all this bad stuff about new york" and it turned out it was a completely different girl. Unless they pointed you out in front of management. Just saying it might not even be personally directed at you.

Also, it COULD be a threat to get fired, but it could also be one to get fined or something similar - ie, not as harsh.

I had talked to exactly 2 guys at that point and didn't tell either my name. It had to be a "the brunette in the pink bikini over there" situation.

Either way I don't like threats. I'm a good employee and have never been suspended or fired from any club. And this club needs to hang on to all the good dancers it can, believe me.

It is still possible a customer got the name confused. Especially since it was so early in your shift.

Unless there's something else going on I couldn't possibly know about, I'd say it's probably not mgmt just screwing with you.

Could have also been a GIRL who claimed she heard you say that to get you in trouble. Jealous girls ya know...

At any rate, I don't really have problems at work, but if something like that happens I've learned to question the source - ie, ask where they got the info and point out that it must not be very reliable if they can't divulge the source in order for me to defend myself properly.

I totally agree with you Bridgette! Next time it happens, tell the Mgmt that you want to know exactly which guy it is so you can "apologize", then simply ask the guy. "Did you think I told you blah, blah, blah?" If he honestly thinks that, and you did talk to him before, then maybe you need you change your approach, but if you know for a FACT that you have never hustled this guy for cash much less realized he was there then somethings going on.

Sounds like it to me too. Is there a customer whose advances you have had to repeatedly reject by chance ? I once had a customer who kept offering more and more money to sleep with him and when I finally had enough and walked away he complained that I stole three hundred dollar bills from him. Thankfully I was one of the favored dancers at this club and pretty tight with the manager. He pulled me aside and asked if he could frisk me to shut the guy up and I agreed. He frisked me right in front of the customer looking for hundred dollar bills which ofcourse I didn't have and then escorted the customer out of the club for being a trouble maker

Thats funny Luna, i knew a dancer named New York. She was a pathological liar but she was still a great mentor to me while i danced.
