[move=right,scroll,6,transparent,100%]Let's PARTY!!!![/move]
I'm making this last thread for our lil shindig, to post all the official details and let everyone confirm their attendance. Anyone who is definitely attending please send me a PM and post it here. I am reserving the boat in my name so I really don't need a $500 boat reservation on my hands with a bunch of "definites" who flake at the last minute. PLEASE people, if you're coming, let me know and if you SAY you're coming then be there! We need an accurate count.
/Lecture. Now on to the fun stuff. Please read thoroughly and watch this thread for all details.
Saturday July 3
Cruise: from Block Island
We meet at a location TBA at 10am in Providence. It is important to be on time here because the whole boatride depends on it. We will convoy over to the free parking location TBA and carpool over to the dock (save on parking fees) at Point Judith. Ferry to Block Island, Old Harbor departs at 11:45am, arrives at 1ish. Cruise leaves Old Harbor at 2pm and runs 2 hours. Return ferry to Providence at 5pm, landing at 6ish.
The boat:
Block Island:
Block Island Ferry:
Boat cost is $500 for the whole thing, whether we have 10 people or 20. Obviously, the more people we have, the cheaper it gets for each of us. It carries up to 24 people and so far if everyone who's saying they will actually shows up we'll still have room for a few more. So come on and get on the boat! We'll have it all to ourselves so we can relax and have fun!
Ferry to Block Island is $15.15 per person round trip. I have the boat reserved for now on my name only, MUST make a deposit to lock it in by Friday June 25. Please confirm with me before then if you're coming.
Food: Cruise is BYO and as the time draws nearer some of us will be shopping for snacks and drinks to take on the boat but we will NOT be buying enough to make a buffet so please feel free to bring anything you want, food or drinkwise. There won't really be time to have a proper lunch so make sure you're not left going hungry! We can split the cost of the food/drinks purchased the day of the cruise. As much as I love you all, I can't afford to buy everyone's lunch![]()
Seasickness: If anyone knows or suspects they might get seasick I encourage you to visit your doctor prior to the trip for some patches to prevent seasickness. I forget what they're called but I've used them before and they work very well. They're patches you put behind your ear before getting on the boat. This is a sailboat so it WILL NOT be like riding a huge cruiseship. Please take care of this prior so you don't have to spend the entire cruise hanging your head over the rail feeding stomach acid to the fish! Trust me, Dramamine (or other over the counter meds) does NOT work for seasickness.
Dinner: 8pm, location TBA
We are deciding on a restaurant in Providence. We will arrive back at the dock at around 6pm so this should allow time to pick up our cars, check into hotels, freshen up, etc. We are planning for something in the $20/plate range.
