    " You could sell cars ! "

I don't know :o whether to take it as a compliment or what. ??? I've gotten this line at various times when I'm going around selling dances.

Does this mean I sound too much like a salesperson ? Does this mean the patron is unimpressed ? What does it mean when a patron used this line as a response to me when I'm selling a lap dance to him ?

How many other dancers have experienced receiving this line when selling dances?

Vee, I would take it as a compliment.
Sounds like they think you are a very effective salesperson.

I don't like it when I hear this kind of thing.

It goes up there with "gee, you're persistant".

I guess it's because I'm selling myself and I like to think it sells itself!

I usually receive this line after I have a valid reply to their objections when selling them a dance.

My response is to usually walk away at this point as I do feel kind of insulted they said that to me. I don't take it as a positive thing in re: selling. I was just wondering if other people have experienced this and/or if I am taking it the wrong way.

My other response is to say "I could sell cars but I rather do this" with a smile.

At my club, we don't sell dances, so it is a little different... but I usually get the "You are very good at your job"... they are always very friendly about saying it, but to me that means they see right through the friendly, confident, sexy persona I put on, and realize that the slow dancing, the strut, the fantasy that I play is all for money. I just say, "Well then, I must not be doing it all that well! But thank you." And I laugh. You can't win all the time

I have heard this often, usually when the guy is buying more dances but occasionally when he's turning me down. I don't know how to take it but I always just laugh it off. Sometimes they'll say something like "you could sell an igloo to an eskimo" or "I wish I had you on my sales team" and I laugh that off too. Most of the time I tend to think they're just trying to flatter. At any rate I don't take it as an insult because after all I AM sellin sumtin!

^ i think it is generally meant as a complement. guys just aren't all that good at giving them, or women aren't good at taking them? i think the guys who say this are the ones who actually realize that we do this for money, not just cos we're dirty girls who want to get naked, you know? they've probably just come across so many girls who don't "sell" that they realize you don't have to, and are impressed that you do.

unless a guy uses a sarcastic, mean tone, in which case no amount of sales could ever get him, nor would they be all that worth it if you did, cos he's an ass.

I dunno, personally I find car salesmen pretty damn ANNOYING to the point that I prefer just buying a car on ebay. Car dealers try to sell you something you often don't want. Maybe these guys feel the same way....

Often the "you're a good saleswoman" guys say it with a smirk, but they're often the first to complain about the "wanna dance" girls. Go figure.

It annoys me to hear it, but now that I think about it, I often DO wind up selling them dances. Damn, I'm goooood!

Now that I have thought about it a little more - I usually receive this line when the guy (as I don't find female patrons or customers say this to me) realises that money is involved.

I'm taking it as a compliment these days however I still find that I can't sell dances to the guy who says this to me straight away. Sometimes they will, sometimes they won't.

I too personally don't see car salespeople in a good light so I usually took this as a bad sign. Nowdays I'm trying to take it as a compliment (along with the other lines that have been mentioned: You should work for me, etc).

I've never gotten that line, tho a couple times I've had sales-type guys ask me where I learned to sell or ask if I was in a sales job before or something.

BUT the other week I danced for a bunch of car salesmen celebrating some kind of sales award and they offered me a job selling cars!!! I definitely took that as a compliment.

Ha, yes I have had this said to me a few times which is totally ridiculous since I'm terrible at selling shows!!! The people who've told me that have been very easy to sell too, so I always take it as a joke.
You should take it as a compliment though!
BTW did you see the question I asked you in the overcoming shyness thread? (couldn't get the curser happening in email for some reason yesterday!) I need to learn some sales skills!!!
