    Default Common Man in Space

    Well..........sort of.

Today a huge step was made in 'common man' getting to space. Burt Rutan (designed the Long Easy, among other aircraft) along with Microsoft Co Founder Paul Allen have got the first Non-Government manned-vehicle in space. They launched early this morning teathered to a 'mother ship' who got the space craft to 50,000ft. Once at 50,000 ft, they dropped the space ship and it went off to the edge of space, encountering weightlessness for about 3 minutes.

Probably in a few weeks you will see the group secure the X prize, a $10 Million dollar purse, for becoming the first private company to get a person to space twice within two weeks.

Oh yea....this whole project cost somewhere arond $20 Million dollars. To put this into prospective, the Shuttle costs $50 Million each launch!

It's a great day for space nuts, as some huge break throughs were made today.

So...the question...did anyone watch it? (I was on the road when it happened).
I've heard that a good signiture sets you apart from everyone.
    Well......is this good enough???

An interesting aside, a company called Armadillo Aerospace is currently working on a project with the end goal being consumer-level aerospace vehicles and rockets.

While the project has a very long way to go, the intention is to bring aerospace to the commoner/civilian.

Self-made millionaire John Carmack (best known for his software/videogame and physics prowess, of id Software writing such games as Doom, Quake, etc.etc.) leads the team. When he's not writing the next million seller videogame, he's working with the team at Armadillo Aerospace designing safer, more practical forms of rocket engines and such.

    Check out their website at:

It doesn't matter if you're somebody in this world, it rather matters you mean the whole world to somebody.

Just saw on TV that Rutan said they ran into one complication and until they fixed that problem, they won't go for the X prize.

But hell.........they got the first civilian to get their Astronaut wings.
