Default Guys, do you care about the pole?

Okay, here's my question. The last club I worked at was small and didn't have a pole, so I have almost no experience on one. When I auditioned at another club, I used it minimally, like to slide up and down along a little. When you're watching a stage show, how important is the fact that a girl can/cannot use a pole to you? Or do you more focus on eye contact, sexy moves not using the pole, etc? And girls, do clubs put a lot of stock in whether or not you can use the pole for hiring purposes? Thanks all.

I don't care at all about the pole, or any other part of your stage dancing either for that matter. Only two things matter to me: are you fairly attractive including a big smile, and do you exhibit a pleasant and positive personality. If the answer to both questions is yes, then I'll want to spend time with you. Otherwise I'll keep looking. If I wanted to watch good dancing I'd go to the ballet.

but one I've found to be rather typical. A guy will not dismiss a girl simply because she sucks at pole dancing.

No and if they do it's extremely rare.

I don't care about the pole, although I will tip for dancers who are really good with it because I appreciate the hard work. I have noticed, however, that the pole dancers don't typically get as much in the way of tips because they're busy on the pole.

I just enjoy sexy dancing. It might include the pole, it might not. I don't look for pole dancing.

Sometime, pole dancing will get attention brought to you, but then you have to follow up with positive, fun, sexy attitude.

It depends on the dancer, i'd have to say. I do dig stage shows, and i like to watch dancers dance.

The pole is cool, but i don't cry when there isn't one.

I like the stage shows just as much as a good lap dance. Well almost . Really I do. I look at it as an art as long as she is into it and not just going thru the motions.

When a woman stands up straight, tall, proud, and sexy... and makes good eye contact, who cares about a pole? I sure don't.

No one really cares. It's just a bonus if you can use it.

I personally agree with FONDL the personality and looks are the most important for me but saying that I love to see a good stage show whether or not a pole is involved or not it shows talent and commitment on the dancers part too many of them just seem to use tired old moves or dance very lethargically and that is a turn off at least to me.

A pole trick during the first song of your stage set (before you've removed any clothing) is a cool attention getter, but once money starts appearing on the rail, its time to pay attention to that. Customers generally prefer a dancer's attention over her acrobatics.

I appreciate a dancer who is good at using the pole—watching a dancer who is good at it is very enjoyable. But I would never base my decision to buy a lapdance on polework. However, it might grab my attention.

T-B, now you've gone and done it – made me feel very, very old. Or maybe jaded. Or something. Doesn't anyone else think that after a little while the floor work gets just a bit repetitive and, maybe not the best word here, but – boring?
in the clubs i worked at the more floor work you did the more you got paid.. if you are doing the same thing then you need to practis more moves... i like doing the splits and bouncing.. or doing the weird thing with my butt/rotating it while im laying on my tummy *hard to explain*... the guys go crazy for it..

I do enjoy some polework, but I agree that the best shows involve more attention to the customers than the club fixtures.

TB, you brought back lots of memories, and good ones, to boot. I know all about the weird butt thing. I do miss the floorwork. And the pole for that matter. At Rick's in Minneapolis, stage work is severely downplayed. Yes, they have fancy lights and smoke machines, but as a dancer your options are limited for the following reasons:

    1. No pole.

    2. Floorwork is heavily frowned on, if not outright prohibited.

The other night a lady got on her knees and leaned back momentarily. That's it - a 2 sec move. She later pointed that out to me and said she was surprised that she was doing more of that and the mgmt wasn't crawling her ass about it.

    Very very sad.

Regarding polework, it's nice to have in the repertoire, but it's not a be-all, end-all thing.

From my experience, the younger the guy, the more he would like to see a "seasoned" stripper...... or someone that stands out mainly through pole work. But I have seen some of the worst stage dancers ever make a killing because she exuded so much confidence. It really depends a lot on the club. I admit that I get many dances from my stage show, but I have seen girls do fine without knowing how to do anything on it at all. I personally like pole work because it is good exercise and I don't have to crawl on my knees so much. It's especially good to know when the club is dead and noone is sitting at your stage because it helps kill alot of time.

Unfortunately not until I've busted my ass for months learning pole tricks did I discover that EVERY single man I've spoken to says they don't think pole tricks are sexy. They said they admire the talent and it looks cool and entertaining to watch, but they don't find it particularly sexy. F**KERS!!!!!!

Ok, back on topic. Fancy pole tricks might get you some extra attention on stage, but that's about it. If anything, the overly acrobatic moves are a little bit of a turn off for me, as my mind shifts from "mmmm hot!' to "ouch that must've hurt!"

Lestat, have you seen girls do moves, floor or pole, where they go down into a splits and SLAM the sides of their heels onto the stage? Is really loud. Every single reaction I've heard has been one of pain, not sexiness - maybe it just gets everyone to start looking at stage. *Shrug*

Good observation about the younger guys, they do seem more impressed by pole work. At my club the girls aren't supposed to be going up to each customer, so the routine is go up to a few, go to the pole, do a pole trick or booty shake or something. Move to another couple of guys.

Pole work CAN help get you noticed, people tend to remember "that girl that was so neat on the pole" but no more so than being really sexy and confidant. I wouldn't worry about it.

    I'm not a guy, but...
I think pole-tricks are cool when they are used sparingly, and the dancer actually knows how and when to use it. A rhythmically-challenged dancer groping the pole and doing her spring-break-drunk-girl booty grind, makes me pay more attention to my drink and hold on to my money! I'm not trying to be mean and I know the technique takes practice, but damn! Use it; don't abuse it! The same goes for floorwork. Don't have to be Twyla Tharp, but having some sense of rhythm and body-control goes a long way, on the pole and floor.

Also, yeah, the sound of shoes slamming onto the floor is jarring to the senses. However, if it can be timed so it precisely hits on a dramatic downbeat of the music, then I might be sold on it.

    Just my

    Peace.

I'm with RawkerGirl on this one. I know a few pole tricks but the ones I use in my routine are the ones that I think are kinda sexy (they're pretty easy for me to do). I dropped a few of my moves because I honestly did not think that they helped add to the aura I was trying to exude in the club (i.e. one of sex). I also use my current moves sparingly and in time to the rise and fall of my music. But most importantly, I give the biggest eye contact and the most devilish smile . That's what sticks in the customers' minds and helps me sell dances when I get off stage.
