No one I would hope is so niave that they would believe there is no connection between Iraq and Al Quaida. THe fact that Iraq did not specifically sponser the horrors of 911 does not mean they didn't provide an environment for Al Quaida to be safe, grow, and to plan further destruction. The commissions findings were limited as was their focus and their message does us a disservice by not recognizing an obvious link.

Civil disobedience, as with any comment, has to be taken into context. While the right to disagree is fundamental, there are circumstances which render it both impractical and destructive. Wartime of it's nature creates special circumstances. Those circumstances require conduct out of the ordinary. This country was founded on an ability to disagree but war calls for those with the intelligence to disagree to excersise responsible restraint for the same goal that is preservation of the circumstances which allow this disagreement.

Remember, the Iraq's would spare not a minute in destroying us if they had the ability.

    SHUT UP ALREADY....

You claim to be so intelligent and so much smarter than everyone else here. Then you post the most ignorant and assuming bullshit I've ever heard. Not to mention you do not write properly.

Have you explained yet why you claim to be so smart? What degrees you hold? Where you studied? Anything?

hmmmmmm, interesting the talk now of civil disobediance. ofcorse, the "discourse on civil disobedience" was over taxes..... taxes that thoreau didn't want being used on an unjust(in his mind) war with mexico. often times it is about war.

Big D, you completely skirted all my questions about your degrees. i understand though, you've got a lot of people asking you questions. here they are again:

Where did you get each degree? what type is each degree? and what was the major (as well as any possible minors, concentrations, etc) on each degree? THANKS!

and im disapointed that someone with your intelligence couldn't comprehend my little age bit. i dind't post a "ten year age cap". i effectively stated that you are ten years older than ain and i, which in your words meant that you had all the wisdom and experience and that we had none, simply due to your age. my philisophical question is (since there is no way anyone could ever argue this with fact, logic or any type of reason due to its imbecillic nature) does that mean that our members in their 50s and 60s are far more wise than you and have much more life experience than you, that it invalidates your thoughts? this would hold true if you have the ability to laud your wisdom mearly from age over the heads of those slightly younger than you. i proposed a much larger age difference(as does exist on this board), under the impression from your post that wisdom and intelligence from experience grows exponentially(possibly linear growth? i dont know, you tell me). so the difference in wisdom between a 24 year old and 34 (or whatever) year old would be approximately 1/6 (*editted from 1/8* my mistake. im basing this off a base two logarithmic growth scale) as large a gap as the difference between a 34 year old and a 54 year old. since my views are completely invalidated due solely to my age, this would clearly state that your views are invalidated due to your age since those in their 50s still do exist on this site.

Now, to those who blame kmart for selling ample supplies of bullets...i can't stand people like you. what ever happened to responsibility? ill tell you what happened: soccer moms decided that responsibility was a burden and instead of taking responsibility for their actions and teaching their children to take responsibility for what they chose to do, we've substituted responsibility with law. now, as long as their is no law, you're not wrong. AND as there is no recourse to wrong action, unless punished by law. there is no reason why any of us shouldn't be able to purchase weapons or ammunition in any quantity we desire. the purchasing of said weapons or ammunition does not equal the slaughter of large groups of people. punish the criminals, not the vendors. you can kill people with knives too you know, but for some reason, nobody is up in arms about restaurants putting them on tables. yes, a firearm gives the user the ability to harm more people than a knife, but its not the firearm that makes the person kill. it is the murderer themselves. we were supposedly founded on liberty, its something i hold dear, but see slipping away more and more as time passes. im often told that "if i dont like this country, i should move to cuba." i dont like this country because i see it becoming more and more like cuba everyday. i call upon all those who detest liberty, to move to cuba and leave one nation for me.

continuing on. the worlds view on america and the role of this film. its no secret that the world is displeased with the usa. its no secret that middle easterners dont care much for the usa. for those of us who have seen this film, we are the only ones able to even remotely conclude what the fallout of this film will be. i propose that this film would actually be good to show the world in an effort to get the world to "stop hating the us." this film shows 1.) the us government as evil. 2.) a multitude of us citizens extremely displeased with their government. 3)a multitude of us citizens not living extravigantly, infact, quite the opposite.

from seeing this, i would expect that a lot of those extremists that hate us and teach others to hate us could easily formulate the opinion that their hatred of us wasn't wrong. HOWEVER, their target of hatred should only be the us government, as the us people are clearly in opposition to its oppressive rule. people who dislike us, are possibly going to shift their dislike off the people and solely on the government.

i hope people actually read this post.

    YEAH....What he said

What i find funny is that If i was 70 years old and lived in a cave for 69 of those years.....i would automatically be considered smarter and wiser than Big D. Just because I would be "older".

Real intelligence and wisdom comes via learning from other people. There are things i can learn from a homeless 12 year old kid who never went to school.

Life is more than a # and a degree.

Zero grasp about this war? I take it anyone who agrees with you has a complete grasp of this war
no disagree all u want but at least have some idea about what u disagree with

Obviously, I have and idea about what I disagree with.

saying u don't agree w/ something u dont know squat about is having zero grasp

and remember u are the one calling anyone who doesnt agree w/ u a traitor..... which is a crime punishable by death.... so in essence u are saying if someone doesnt agree with u should die

Big Duh educated, maybe...... informed, not even close.

She said Iraq was involved w/ 9/11 even though 9/11 commission said it was not..... I guess she thinks she knows more than all the people on the commission.

She said no production companies wanted to touch Moore's film, also not true Miramax wanted it all along

she said the film was all lies even though she hasn't seen it so how could she know one way or the other....... she must be psychic to know what's in a movie she hasn't seen

and let's not forget she thinks we should kill EVERY SINGLE IRAQI.... that would include children as well :o

No one I would hope is so niave that they would believe there is no connection between Iraq and Al Quaida.

    Big D
There was no connection found or proven between Iraq and Al Qaeda. It was Afghanistan that sponsored their training camps. The only "proof" we have of an Iraq/ Al Qaeda connection is the word of Bush and his cabinet. Read "against All Enemies" by the Right's favorite Disgruntled Employee Richard Clarke. This man's credentials are unimpeachable and have been substantially supported by others with similar credentials.

And didn't we go to war with Iraq supposedly BECAUSE they had the capability to destroy us and were an imminent threat? You just shot yourself in the foot there big time. With K-Mart bullets.

ok I will since it probably really is the best thing for the site at this point. But it was sure funny and sad at the same time to see how ignorant about the world she or he was. I was kinda hoping some of this stuff that I and others have told it might sink in but alas I now think it had the opposite effect

Big D.. Where do you get off insulting Bridgette? What the hell did she do to you?

And as for your recent insults directed at Isis, Ain, Sandy and Nopink.. You seriously need to cut that shit out. When you have to resort to insults, that's a sign of defeat my friend.

    Cool it.

I haven't added to this thread so far since I haven't seen the movie yet, but I will say this much: Big D didn't even have to do any research of her own since people listed quite a few links for her. All she had to do was read the information presented. Obviously she didn't, but then again why would she? If she did she'd have to admit she was wrong about numerous statements that she made in this saga.

Too much fucking anger in the world as it is. Personally, i don't agree with Dallas' politics, but i think she's a cool chick nonetheless. Melonie, and another girl (who i'm forbidden from mentioning her politics) are also cool chicks. I lean to the left, but i don't despise the right. That shit is like being mad at someone because they say it might rain and it doesn't.

    Hi all....

I saw this movie tonight in Boston. The first show I wanted to see at 10 was sold out...I saw it at 11.

Boston is a very diverse town...many saudi, asian, european, etc. So here we all are together watching this movie...about our countries destroying each other.

Politics is something I never argue with people, I respect other opinions...I listen, maybe I'll be educated.

When this movie was over people stood up and clapped. It was amazing. It makes your own problems feel so small in comparison, and so greatful there are people with pride for this country.

But whats sad is after the hype dies down people forget. We get lazy. We have to remember this is our country, we make the difference. We vote. Or do we?

I will register to vote. I think our country deserves a better chance...we deserve to know the truth and not live in fear. Losing as many soilders as we did in Vietnam? That's scary.

I'm sure this movie was edited creatively, and Moore has an agenda of his own...but those words of arrogance and stupidity came from Bush's mouth.

If this movie was so far off from the truth you wouldn't be allowed to see it still. It would be slander, defamation of character, and many other charges I may not be aware of...

If they try to pass laws about speaking out against your president (like was mentioned in an earlier post) it's because we the people do have power in our words. Our country was founded that way...has it taken us that long to realize?

I honestly feel bad for Bush...this is a terrible term for him (beside his vacations) I don't just dislike Bush, I'm mostly coming to realize I'm a Democrat.

    And I'm going to vote.

    Thanks for letting me rant...

    Alexis

This thread is waaaaay too long! But I have to add this because I've seen this movie twice. And tonight my sister and I had a talk about our friends and family getting deployed. She went to see two of her pals tonight that are shipping out to Iraq tommorrow. What comes to mind is all the sad stories I've heard from people twice my age who had brothers, boyfriends or friends ship out to Vietnam and never come home.
We're in too deep with Iraq. We just can't leave now. I feel that Kerry is capable of making better decisions than Bush in regards to war policy. WTF does Bush know about war? That he won't run out of poor kids to fight it?
I was chilled by Moore ending the documentary with a quote from George Orwell's "1984." Seriously, that's where it is now.
