What song is out there that just spells *YOU*?
Mine has got to be Danny Elfman's "Gremlins" theme song. Odd choice, i know, but you should see me IRL. Mischief is my middle name...

Damn.. I have quite a few, from different perspectives of course.. LOL
If you go by my Sister, it's "Sweet Little Sister" By Skid Row ("She'll Love You Black & Blue") ~Very old joke.. lol~
The Best Friend: "Beat Me" By Custom ("Wanna be the prayer answered when you meet me, the pain, the bat and the blood when you beat me") ~He's strange, what can I say?~
The Hubby: "She's Every Woman" By Garth Brooks ("And when she gets mad, you best leave her alone.") ~He's not really a fan of country, but he loves this song~
Finally, Me: "Affirmation" By Savage Garden....~The Lyrics say it all.~
Savage Garden
"Affirmation"
i believe the sun should never set upon an argument
i believe we place our happiness in other people's hands
i believe that junk food tastes so good because it's bad for you
i believe your parents did the best job they knew how to do
i believe that beauty magazines promote low self esteem
i believe i'm loved when i'm completely by myself alone
i believe in karma what you give is what you get returned
i believe you can't appreciate real love until you've been burned
i believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
i believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye
i believe you can't control or choose your sexuality
i believe that trust is more important than monogamy
i believe your most attractive features are your heart and soul
i believe that family is worth more than money or gold
i believe the struggle for financial freedom is unfair
i believe the only ones who disagree are millionaires
i believe in karma what you give is what you get returned
i believe you can't appreciate real love until you've been burned
i believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
i believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye
i believe forgiveness is the key to your unhappiness
i believe that wedded bliss negates the need to be undressed
i believe that god does not endorse tv evangelists
i believe in love surviving death into eternity
i believe in karma what you give is what you get returned
i believe you can't appreciate real love until you've been burned
i believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
i believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye
hehe...
You're most welcome, Marko. Amazing words, aren't they? You just gotta love a guy that can write like that and actually mean it..

OMG there are so many. 2 defnites are "Crazy" by Aerosmith and we all know how that goes. Th other would be "To The Moon & Back" by Savage Garden. When I listen to them I feel like they were written about me, then follows a shower of goosebumps LOL.
"To the Moon and Back"
Savage Garden:
She's taking her time making up the reasons
To justify all the hurt inside
Guess she knows from the smiles and the look in their eyes
Everyones got a theory about the bitter one
They're saying, "Mamma never loved her much" And, "Daddy never keeps in touch"
"That's why she shies away from human affection"
But somewhere in a private place she packs her bags for outer space
And now shes waiting for the right kind of pilot to come
And she'll say to him
I would fly you to the moon and back
if you'll be, if you'll be my baby
Got a ticket for a world where we belong
So would you be my baby?
She can't remember a time when she felt needed
If love was red then she was colour blind
All her friends they've been tried for treason
And crimes that were never defined
She's saying, "Love is like a barren place, and reaching out for human faith is,
Is like a journey I just don't have a map for"
So baby's gonna take a dive and push the shift to overdrive
Send a signal that she's hanging all her hopes on the stars
What a pleasent dream
I would fly you to the moon and back if you'll be, if you'll be my baby
I've got a ticket for a world where we belong
So would you be my baby?
Mamma never loved her much and Daddy never keeps in touch
Thats why she shies away from human affection
But somewhere in a private place she packs her bag for outer space
And now she's waiting for the right kind of pilot to come
And she'll say to him
I would fly you to the moon and back
if you'll be, if you'll be my baby
I've got a ticket for a world where we belong
So would you be my baby?
I would fly you to the moon and back
if you'll be, if you'll be my baby
I've got a ticket for a world where we belong
So would you be my baby ... yeah
You think you know... but you have no idea!
Umm, my "theme song" would depend on the mood I was in at the time. But generally is geared around Type O-, song "Christian Woman", or "Summer Breeze".
I'm a very earthy, spirtual girl not to mention kinda goth so there can be a lot said for that.
Kitana
LOL.. great topic...
Let's see...
My best friend whom I danced with in the very beginning used to say that the lyrics to Domino by Kiss should be my theme song...
"Never had confession, never had a home
Never had no worry, until I met Domino"
My hubby says I fit the lyrics to "one hot mama" by Trace Adkins.. and I find the video extremely funny...
But for me, I found a song a few years ago that summed up how I feel entirely.... It means different things to different people, but for me, I love this song and it means a lot to me. The first time I heard this song, I was with my daughter and she was asking me how long it would take for her to "grow up". This song came on the radio and the DJ had announced it as her brand new single and I turned it up a little bit, that moment was captured because everything I wanted to tell my daughter about growing up was already being said thru music. I truly believe music speaks a thousand hearts.
hope you never lose your sense of wonder,
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger,
May you never take one single breath for granted,
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed,
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance,
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin' might mean takin' chances but they're worth takin',
Lovin' might be a mistake but it's worth makin',
Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter,
When you come close to sellin' out reconsider,
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along,
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder
Where those years have gone.
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
Dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance..
Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone

Gynger- I love that "I Hope you Dance" song.
I have a few theme songs, my top two being "Extraordinary" by Liz Phair and "The Lucky One" by Allison Kraus (I'm too lazy to look up lyrics). Rhi, "She's Every Woman" is an awesome song- my honey says it reminds him of me too.... guess you better leave both of us alone when we get mad.hehe
What?
No one's going to mention Gizmo?
Wow what a hard question.:undecided:
I guess it depends on so much, but right now I would have to say "Freak like me" Sugababes and of course "Male stripper" Man 2 man. Hmmm, Marcella Detroit's "I believe" goes in there somewhere too . . .

Desert loving in your eyes all the way
If I listen to your lies would you say
I'm a man without conviction
I'm a man who doesn't know
How to sell a contradiction
You come and go
You come and go
Karma Karma Karma Karma Karma Chameleon
You come and go
You come and go
Loving would be easy if your colors were like my dream
Red, gold and green
Red, gold and green
Didn't hear your wicked words every day
And you used to be so sweet I heard you say
That my love was an addiction
When we cling our love is strong
When you go you're gone forever
You string along
You string along
Every day is like a survival
You're my lover not my rival
Every day is like a survival
You're my lover not my rival
I'm a man without conviction
I'm a man who doesn't know
How to sell a contradication
You come and go
You come and go

My theme song has got to be "Shades of Life (I Am)" by Billy Gilman. It's based on a poem by Mattie Stepanek. Mattie was a young boy with a type of Muscular Dystrophy called: dysautonomic mitochondrial myopathy, a genetic neuromuscular disease that impaired almost all of his body's major functions, like heart rate, breathing, blood pressure and digestion, and caused muscle weakness.
This young man became a poet and wrote five volumes of poetry before he died recently from complications from his condition. I grew up with slight disabilities in my back and legs, which I had to go to Shriner's Hospital for as a child. While I can ride a bicycle today, I still have almost constant pain in my back to this day and while I am able to walk, I cannot run very fast or very far, due to my disability.
I cried the first time I heard this song performed by Billy Gilman. I will take a copy of this song with me at every charity fundraiser I go to, including the one I'll be riding in next month.
Here are the lyrics to the song.
Shades of Life (I Am)
I am black, I am white
I am all skins in between
I am young, I am old
I am each age that has been
I am scrawny I am well fed
I am starving for intention
I am famous I am cryptic
I am hardly worth the mention
I am short, I am height
I am any frame or stature
I am smart, I am challenged
I am striving for a future
The color of sky
Is blues and grays
The color of Earth
Is greens and browns
The color of hope
Is rainbows and purple.
And the color of peace
Is people together
Shades of life
I am
I am able, I am weak
I am some strength, I am none
I am being, I am thought
I am all things said and done
I am born, I am died
I am dust of humble roots
I am grace, I am pain
I am labor of willed fruits
I am slave, I am free
I am bonded to my life
I am rich, I am poor
I am wealth amidst strife
The color of sky
Is blues and grays
The color of Earth
Is greens and browns
The color of hope
Is rainbows and purple.
And the color of peace
Is people together
Shades of life
I am
I am shallow, I am glory
I am hiding from my shame
I am hero, I am loser
I am yearning for a name
I am empty, I am proud
I am seeking my tommorrow
I am growing, I am fading
I am hope amid the sorrow
I am certain, I am doubtful
I am desperate for solutions
I am leader, I am student
I am fate and evolutions
I am spirit, I am voice
I am memory, not recalled
I am chance, I am cause
I am effort, blocked and walled
I am hymm, I am heard
I am reasoned without rhymes
I am past, I am nearing
I am present at all times
I am many, I am no one
I am seasoned by each being
I am me, I am you
I am all-souls now decreeing
The color of sky
Is blues and grays
The color of Earth
Is greens and browns
The color of hope
Is rainbows and purple.
And the color of peace
Is people together
Shades of life
I am

Dancing by Bauhaus
===============
Dancing on hot tiles
Dancing on tender hooks
Dancing down church aisles
Dancing on holy books
Dancing on crocodiles
Dancing on hallowed ground
Dancing nyjinsky style
Dancing with the lost and found
Dancing on rock 'n roll's grave
Dancing on burning coals
Dancing on "jesus saves"
Dancing with old scratch soul
Dancing on flick knives
Dancing a stiletto groove
Dancing our nine lives away
Dancing in the louvre
Dancing in catacombs
Dancing in tuxedo drag
Dancing in dark rooms
Dancing on all your flags
Dancing in the vatican
Dancing on the papal gown
Dancing on the taxman
Dancing on the crown
We're dancing to the dark side of this tune
It doesn't matter if you're somebody in this world, it rather matters you mean the whole world to somebody.
Beautiful Lyrics there, DJ. Mattie is going to be missed. It's such a shame that his little life ended so soon. When I heard of his passing last week, I couldn't help but get all choked up.Originally Posted by DJ_Duane link=board=1;threadid=10500;start=msg129435#msg129 435 date=1088416181
I'm sorry about your disability. I wish you the best of luck and the best of health.
Ella Fitzgerald..."Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered"
(my favorite part of the song...yep this is me)
Couldn’t sleep and wouldn’t sleep
When love came and told me, I shouldn’t sleep
Bewitched, bothered and bewildered - am i
Lost my heart, but what of it
He is cold I agree
He can laugh, but I love it
Although the laugh’s on me
I’ll sing to him, each spring to him
And long, for the day when I’ll cling to him
Bewitched, bothered and bewildered - am i
He’s a fool and don’t I know it
But a fool can have his charms
I’m in love and don’t I show it
Like a babe in arms
Love’s the same old sad sensation
Lately I’ve not slept a wink
Since this half-pint imitation
Put me on the blink
I’ve sinned a lot, I’m mean a lot
But I’m like sweet seventeen a lot
Bewitched, bothered and bewildered - am i
My favorite for years.. Boils life down nicely.
For a Dancer..
Jackson Browne
Keep a fire burning in your eye
Pay attention to the open sky
You never know what will be coming down
I don't remember losing track of you
You were always dancing in and out of view
I must have thought you'd always be around
Always keeping things real by playing the clown
Now you're nowhere to be found
I don't know what happens when people die
Can't seem to grasp it as hard as I try
It's like a song I can hear playing right in my ear
That I can't sing
I can't help listening
And I can't help feeling stupid standing 'round
Crying as they ease you down
'Cause I know that you'd rather we were dancing
Dancing our sorrow away
(Right on dancing)
No matter what fate chooses to play
(There's nothing you can do about it anyway)
Just do the steps that you've been shown
By everyone you've ever known
Until the dance becomes your very own
No matter how close to yours
Another's steps have grown
In the end there is one dance you'll do alone
Keep a fire for the human race
Let your prayers go drifting into space
You never know what will be coming down
Perhaps a better world is drawing near
And just as easily it could all disappear
Along with whatever meaning you might have found
Don't let the uncertainty turn you around
(The world keeps turning around and around)
Go on and make a joyful sound
Into a dancer you have grown
From a seed somebody else has thrown
Go on ahead and throw some seeds of your own
And somewhere between the time you arrive
And the time you go
May lie a reason you were alive
But you'll never know

For some reason every time I see a thread like this I think of what song I'd want to come out to if I were a pro wrestler.
"And in this corner, weighing 250lbs, Edgar of the Fiiiiiiiiive Oceans!"
And then AC/DC's [glow=red,2,300]BACK IN BLACK[/glow] would billow throughout the arena, as I strode to the ring in black trunks, black leather jacket, and black shades. Something about that song just gets me all fired up.

Wildflowers by Tom Petty:
You belong among the wildflowers
You belong in a boat out at sea
Sail away, kill off the hours
You belong somewhere you feel free
Run away, find you a lover
Go away somewhere all bright and new
I have seen no other
Who compares with you
You belong among the wildflowers
You belong in a boat out at sea
You belong with your love on your arm
You belong somewhere you feel free
Run away, go find a lover
Run away, let your heart be your guide
You deserve the deepest of cover
You belong in that home by and by
You belong among the wildflowers
You belong somewhere close to me
Far away from your trouble and worry
You belong somewhere you feel free
You belong somewhere you feel free
Kali
Let me run with you tonight
I'll take you on a moonlight ride
There's someone I used to see
But she don't give a damn for me
But let me get to the point, let's roll another joint
And turn the radio loud, I'm too alone to be proud
You don't know how it feels
You don't know how it feels to be me
People come, people go
Some grow young, some grow cold
I woke up in between
A memory and a dream
So let's get to the point, let's roll another joint
Let's head on down the road
There's somewhere I gotta go
And you don't know how it feels
You don't know how it feels to be me
My old man was born to rock
He's still tryin' to beat the clock
Think of me what you will
I've got a little space to fill
So let's get to the point, let's roll another joint
And let's head on down the road
There's somewhere I got to go
And you don't know how it feels
You don't know how it feels
No, you don't know how it feels to be me
You don't know how it feels
You don't know how it feels
No, you don't know how it feels to be me
The theme from Arthur by Christopher Cross
" When You Caught Between the Moon and NYC"
Once in your life you find her
Someone that turns your heart around
And next thing you know you're closing down the town
Wake up and it's still with you
Even though you left her way across town
Wondering to yourself, "Hey, what've I found?"
When you get caught between the Moon and New York City
I know it's crazy, but it's true
If you get caught between the Moon and New York City
The best that you can do ......
The best that you can do is fall in love
Arthur he does as he pleases
All of his life, he's mastered choice
Deep in his heart, he's just, he's just a boy
Living his life one day at a time
And showing himself a really good time
Laughing about the way they want him to be
When you get caught between the Moon and New York City
I know it's crazy, but it's true
If you get caught between the Moon and New York City
The best that you can do .....
The best that you can do is fall in love
That's a cool song! Not as good as Gremlins, but cool!
Mine is on the sad side but it's one of the greatest jazz songs of all time in my opinion.
Lush Life
I used to visit all the very gay places
Those come-what-may places
Where one relaxes on the axis of the wheel of life
To get the feel of life
From jazz and cocktails
The girls I knew had sad and sullen gray faces
With distingue traces
That used to be there
You could see where they’d been washed away
By too many through the day
Twelve o’clock tales
Then you came along with your siren song
To tempt me to madness
I thought for awhile that your poignant smile
Was tinged with the sadness
Of a great love for me
Ah yes, I was wrong
Again, I was wrong
Life is lonely again
And only last year
Everything seemed so sure
Now life is awful again
A trough full of hearts could only be a bore
A week in paris could ease the bite of it
All I care is to smile in spite of it
I’ll forget you, I will
While yet you are still
Burning inside my brain
Romance is mush
Stifling those who strive
So I’ll live a lush life in some small dive
And there I’ll be, while I rot with the rest
Of those whose lives are lonely too
From Death's Symbolic
Perennial Quest
The journey begins with curiosity
And evolves into soul-felt questions
On the stones that we walk
And choose to make our path
Sometimes never knowing
Other times knowing too much
Filtering out the bad that holds us back...
Take hold of what is true to your hunger
A hunger that will not go away
Plans for tomorrow, they will remain
Chorus:
Won't you join me on the perennial quest
Reaching into the dark, retrieving light
Search for answers on the perennial quest
Where dreams are followed, and time is a test
No time for mental crutches
The maker has moved on
I will take it raw and be on my way
Those that stood beside me
I'm glad you understand
Behind these written words
I share the simple plan
To hang on to the way that we feel
From rivers of sorrow
To oceans deep with hope
I have travelled them
Now, there is no turning back
The limit, the sky
I ask my questions Why? What today?
When tomorrow?
Filtering out the bad that holds us back...
Take hold of what is true to your hunger
A hunger that will not go away
Plans for tomorrow, they will remain
Won't you join me on the perennial quest
Reaching into the dark, retrieving light
Search for answers on the perennial quest
Where dreams are followed, and time is a test

Idealism is fine, but as it approaches reality, the costs become prohibitive.

"Against the Wind" by Bob Seger
It seems like yesterday
But it was long ago
Janey was lovely, she was the queen of my nights
There in the darkness with the radio playlng low
And the secrets that we shared
The mountains that we moved
Caught like a wildfire out of control
Till there was nothing left to burn and nothing left to prove
And I remember what she said to me
How she swore that it never would end
I remember how she held me oh so tight
Wish I didn’t know now what I didn’t know then
Against the wind
We were runnin’ against the wind
We were young and strong, we were runnin’
Against the wind
And the years rolled slowly past
And I found myself alone
Surrounded bv stranners I thought were my friends
I found myself further and further from my home
And I guess I lost my way
There were oh so many roads
I was living to run and running to live
Never worried about paying or even how much I owed
Moving eight miles a minute for months at a time
Breaking all of the rules that would bend
I began to find myself searchin’
Searching for shelter again and again
Against the wind
A little something against the wind
I found myself seeking shelter against the wind
Well those drifters days are past me now
I’ve got so much more to think about
Deadlines and commitments
What to leave in, what to leave out
Against the wind
I’m still runnin’ against the wind
Well I’m older now and still runnin'
Against the wind
If I had a theme song it might have to be this....but there are so many. It's "Some Kind of Stranger" by the
Sisters of Mercy. Beautiful lyrics, and haunting melody. It speaks true of myself and of the failure of every man I've ever loved. However, since the singer is male, the "come here I think you're beautiful" line is something I substitute with "handsome."
<I>
And yes I believe in what we had
But words got in the way
And only yesterday
As I was leaving
Lord knows I tried to say, but I've
Heard a million conversations
Going where they've been before
Seen the way that careful lingers
Undecided at the door
And all I know for sure
All I know for real
Is knowing doesn't mean so much
When placed against the feeling
The heat inside
When bodies meet
When fingers touch
All of my words are second-hand and
Useless in the face of this
Rationale and rhyme and reason
Pale beside a single kiss
And I've heard so many things I
Fail to understand at all
I'd settle anytime for
Unknown footsteps in the hall outside
And all I know for sure
All I know for real
Is knowing doesn't mean so much
When placed against the feeling
The heat inside
When bodies meet
When fingers touch
Because the world is cruel, and
Promises are broken
Don't try to tell me
Anything, don't try to tell me
You'll be true to me, you know the
Real truth is never spoken
And I know the world is cold, but
If you hold on tight to what you
Find you might not mind too much, though
Even this must pass away and
Memories may last for years but
Names are just for souvenirs
Some kind of Angel let me
Look into your eyes
Don't give me whys and wherefores
Reason for surprise
I don't care for words that don't belong
And I don't care what your called
Tell me later if at all
I can wait a long long time
Before I hear another love song
Come here I think your beautiful
My door is open wide
Some kind of Angel come inside
Come here I think you're beautiful
I think you're beautiful beautiful
Some kind of Angel come inside
Come here I think you're beautiful
I think you're beautiful
Some kind of Angel come inside
Come here I think you're beautiful
My door is open wide
Some kind of stranger come inside
Come here I think you're beautiful
I think you're beautiful beautiful
Some kind of stranger come inside
Come here I think you're beautiful
I think you're beautiful
Some kind of stranger come inside </I>
