Default A really really fast stripper

And you gals probably thought that you knew how to get your clothes off quickly!

You have to watch a bit, maybe a minute or more, of the video before anything "interesting" starts to happen.

(Also, for any dancers planning to work in Japan, you might not want to turn your back on this guy for even a moment during a private dance, if he comes into your club!)

And, no, I don't have a clue what is going on or what the point of the video is.

Fwiiw, that is what it is like to live in Japan. Weird, inexplicable stuff happens all around you on a regular basis, and you never find out why or what it means.

I'm here to make money. NOT make friends, if I make a friend then it's a bonus.

I'd rather be absolutely ridiculous that absolutely boring

I definitely agree; I love it there...and the general weirdness is one of the major reasons.

However, some Westerners/gaijin get serious "culture shock" and can't stand the place. In fact, I'd say most visitors either quickly get the place in their blood and want to get back as much as possible (I'm definitely one) or hate it and try to avoid ever returning. Probably most dancers are adventurous enough to be in the former category, I'd guess.

Totally agree you either love the place or hate it, I loved it!!!!! and I miss japan. I love japan because it's so different, I'd be honest with ya I didn't like dancing for the gaijin customers, if I wanted to do that i would've stayed in new zealand. I don't think they stereotype so much, you could walk down the street looking like a freak they wouldn't even give you a second glance and the only reason they would is because I'm a foreigner.

3 - you could walk down the street looking like a freak they wouldn't even give you a second glance and the only reason they would is because I'm a foreigner.
1 - Exactly. I get homesick for the place if I am away more than a few months. I am in the middle of a year long stretch of no trips, unusually long for me, and I really miss it.

2 - A lot of gaijin dancers seem to prefer, or say they prefer, gaijin customers because of the communication barrier with most Japanese customes, but of course, maybe that is just what they say to their gaijin customers like me.

3 - Right, being a gaijin trumps everything else. The expats call it "gaijin priviledge"...foreigners can get away with all sorts of things that would hardly be tolerated from a native, or as one person explained it to me - Everyone has a rigidly defined role in Japanese society, and the role of foreigners is to be really odd and unpredictable.

I have a little bit of what you might call "practical street Japanese" but could not understand enough of the video sound track to make any sense of it. And even if you had a transcript translated to English, it might not be obvious what is going on. For example, see the "engrish" at

I occasionally get a glimpse of the Iron Chef show. It seems the Japanese like these kind of crazy things.Um...for what it's worth I thought it was great! The Japanese seem to be able to laugh at themselves pretty well. Maybe someday I will get to go there.
