Default Is it worth it to hire a personal trainer?

I'm 5'5 114 pounds and do not want to lose weight at all. I simply would like a bigger difference in the size of my hips to my waist, you know, that really defined hour glass look.

anyhow, I was wondering if you guys think hireing a trainer is worth it for this, or if you have any experience, or excersize tips.

I just love the way 1940's and 1950's actresses waists look, and that is kind of what I'm going for.
    thanks for all replies.

my personal opinion yes if your serious about it, they can help and make sure your doing the moves/ workout correctly, also they are awesome on those mornings you wake up and feel like shit and dont wanna go to the gym lol they push you total motivators, they can also recommend what you should do to alter/shape your body, i kinda have that hourglass fiure (see my pics in the gallery) but anyways if you want a list of my gym routine pm me oh yeah sorry if there are any typos i hate typing with fake nails lol

I wish I could download some pic's for you guy's to see. I'm pretty thin, but I have more of a straight up and down body, like a boy. only a little bit of curves, and I'd like to enhance that. I just don't know if it's possible for my body type.

I believe that hiring a personal trainer can help anyone stay on track. I know if I didn't have a personal trainer, I don't think I would make it to the gym. lol.

I deff. don't have a problem makeing it to the gym, I go regularly, I am just wondering if my goals are just unattainable for my body type, or if a trainer really could help me get that curve. I don't have a lot of fat on me at all, so thats not the problem. I just want my waist to stand out a little more from my hips.

If you are trying to get a wasp like waist you might try corset training. That is basicly what the ladies in the 40's and 50's did to get the hourglass shape. They called it girdles by that time and corsets were not in vouge, but it was the same idea. A 20" waist line was not unheard of then, due to 24 hour girdle wearing.

A personal trainer can work with you on developing a routine, and push you harder than you would normally push yourself. Also she/he can examine your eating habits and recomend foods to help you reach your goals. Another bonus is that you can tax deduct your personal trainer as a dancer. Staying in shape to prevent injury and to look good is a job requirement, therefore a business expense.

I spend about $1000 a year with a personal trainer, and feel it is totally worth it. I'm not lazy, but I do slack off on myself, but not if my trainer is holding me accountable for progress. She reminds me what I'm paying her for, and kicks my ass on a regular basis for eating junk three days in a row or whatever. She is kinder to me in the gym if my diet is on track, and that is a good motivator for me to eat healthy.

Fawn, I have the same issue as you...I am roughly the same height and weight (although I never, ever step on a scale, so honestly I don't know) and I am pretty straight up and down, too. If you do find anything that works, please let me know. I wouldn't mind having a bit more hips and ass.

Maybe you guys just don't have the genes for that type of body figure, just like I can never look like paris hilton. But Paris has a real point, try a corset(and I mean a real one(they hurt)). After time a corset will change your bodies shape. But be warned, they can cause major health problems. They shift your organs into different spots to achieve that hourglass shape, and that can cause digestive problems. If they are too tight, they can cause blood flow problems too.

where would one get a real corset, instead of the fancy costume ones I see every where?
