I wanted to pose a question that I've never seen addressed on this forum before. Most dancers know that the customary method of stage tipping varies from city to city and sometimes club to club. Do you ladies have any preference in how customers tip you on stage?
For example, I have danced primarily in Los Angeles, where customers place their tips on the stage around the tip rail. $1 a song is the customary tip, so if you do a 2 song set each customer at the tip rail is expected to tip a minimum of $2. It also isn't uncommon for more generous customers to place more money on the stage or throw it in the air (sort of like in the music videos).
Anyway, I recently took a working vacation on the East Coast, where I worked in Myrtle Beach (topless) and briefly at Stiletto's in Nanuet, which is nude. In Myrtle Beach, you were onstage with 4 or 5 other girls, and the customers expected to place their tips in a garter or g-string. At Stiletto's, most customers wanted to place their tip between your breasts.
This really aggravated me for two reasons. First of all, you had to go up to each customer at the rail where they expected you to do a mini-show for them as long as you would let them before they would even offer a tip. I found this kind of time consuming and it left me with the impression that I was going around begging for dollars.
Second, although there were some people who were generous and tipped $5 or $20, most people only tipped $1. Now this would be fine if not for the fact that they wanted you to give them a lot of special attention AND get to touch you and try to fondle you while giving you the tip. I'm far from a prude, but I think that's a lot of stage mileage for a measly dollar.
I wanted to get other perspectives on this issue. Ladies, how to you prefer to receive your stage tips? Customers, how do you prefer to tip on stage? (probably the latter method for obvious reasons).
Just curious.
BTW, l've read lots of comments to the effect that LA is a really bad city for dancing. I would just like to state for the record that I haven't found that the be the case.

isn't that common but is done for novelty. I too don't like trying to take the tips between the

As you can probably tell, this was not a classy place at all (not much money to be made there either), and I'm glad I got out of there!
